I got a call from Holly today inviting me for an interview next week.your right she did sound nice.
She asked if I had heard of the company & as I hadn't I thought I should look them up before attending. I think it's the best 5 minutes research I've ever done. Saved my self 3 hours & a load of embarrassment by the sounds of it.

My boss also got an iphone, it came with a confirmation that the bill would be ~£130 only, yet he received a bill for almost £500.  And on top of that the signal he receives is shocking.

In short, avoid this company completely

DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME GOING FOR AN INTERVIEW TO 5G

In one sentence, how would you describe your experience at 5G Communications?

This is the worst company I have worked for. Look at all the forums online.

Describe some of the best reasons to work at 5G Communications

There  are no positives to work here. You will get constant abuse from the interview stage where you are asked to quack like a duck and role-play a chicken to telling a joke that they don't laugh at.
This all to make you look like a complete moron. Danny Williams will constantly swear at you and say that you are useless at sales.

Describe some of the downsides of working at 5G Communications

Selling customers a scam rolling contract on their telephony and broadband. You will loose all self confidence by the way you get treated and bullied verbally.

    Advice to Management

Firstly get rid of Danny Williams. He is the reason your company is in the poor state its in. No vision and zero interpersonal skills. Start by looking after your employees and treat them like gold. Your staff turnover  must be the highest in England  and I think management is proud of this. You obviously do not realise how much it costs to train up a new employee.

Thank you all for putting up these messages. I was offered an interview with 5G today and thought something seemed weird about the call. You have all saved me a lot of time that would have been wasted, so once again thank you.

Oh the person i recieved a call from was Chloe. She had not idea about anything that was on my CV ( I doubt she even read it) and had no idea how to interview someone on the phone.

Well I'd give 100% in Kudos for all the guys that have done their homework here. I too was contacted after placing my cv on open source job search sites. I know which one it was, - it wasn't Reed -.
The give aways were despite my insistence of my career leanings, the newbie lady (as her name hasn't appeared before) still maintained that I should attend an interview. Now fortunately I am not a young dude and have been streetsmart worldwide for many many years. There was a time when I would attend time share selling for the shear pleasure of getting the free gift and walking away with the saleman dribbling and frothing at the mouth because I had done a reverse sales job on him. There were times I'd bring along the wife for good measure.
However, I am severely tempted to stroll into the lion's den again as a Trojan Horse and have some fun again.
I was trained many years ago on role playing and all the American sales skills needed to close sales. Unfortunately (for them) I'm post graduate Industrial Psych. and my gut is itching to have a wind up again and determine the angle and objective that they are trying to achieve.
Now these people must be making money from somewhere. The web site is very professional and well presented. I have only uncovered one customer/contract complaint.
The MD is Michael Holland, perhaps the Mellanie Holland is related?
I watched their promotional video on their Customer web site, all the names mentioned or captioned are new or have no previous mention within this thread.
They are now using a building in the same road for the interview process whilst the original "interview building" still exists... for normal uninterupted business?? (no loud quacking or clucking sounds disrupting telesales?)
The number that is used to call is 0149 483 3809
I did a Google Earth walk about at ground level and both the premises are very professional and modern.
I must admit that this thread was not an easy one to come by and only after a - employment scam + 5G - Google search, did I find this thread. I had spent the last three days chasing everything "5G"
What puzzles me is... what are the objectives of these people?
There is a well known old saying:
    - You can fool all of the people some of the time,
    - You can fool some of the people all off the time,
    - But you can't fool all of the people all of the time!
They have been trading under their new guise for some time and I concur that their trading name has been change from a previous one, according to Companies House.
They must be generating money from somewhere, and that's where I dicovered the one and only contract complaint posted on the net. It was via a legal advice blog and the conclusion was that 5G has done it's homework in putting together a very water-tight legal document that pays them (5G) handsomely if the client wants out.
As this business has been going for some years now, just how many potential clients have not had a visit yet. And... considering the rep turnover, how much credibility does 5G have out there now?
The promotional video shows one client who professes satisfaction from his small-shopped business.... a little strange because I would have expected a large company, perhaps a multinational being portrayed for promotional business. (Yep that's one of the ingredients for "smell a rat" gut feeling).
Incidentaly, this thread was blocked for direct connection via Google and I accessed it via cached in the side pop-up.
For those of you with further interest, repost and or come back to me. I do have a few "Higher connections " should there be a distinct case for public interest.

I too previously worked for this company and i can tell you everything on here about the interview is true. I'm not saying i agree with the way they interview but this is for a reason, if singing a song and dancing like a chicken in front of one person in an interview room embarrass's you then you should not be in sales. its about personality and confidence.

i must say i enjoyed my employment here but after a while i realised the bosses lie to keep you there, promises of payrises, commission and bonuses that never materialise are not uncommon. however the rest of the people that work there are all very nice and i would say if you need a job give it a go, dont let this thread put you off. this is a reputable company and alot of the people that work there have been there for years and years. if you can prove you are there for the long run they will accept you and provide payrises and perks such as cars, i've seen it myself but left due to personal reasons.

with regards to Danny Williams, yes he is an a hole, and thinks he's amazing and wont hesitate to tell you what he thinks but if you stand up for yourself he will respect that. this company is not for weak people, you need a backbone.

in all i think people are too quick to judge, the comments saying 'people farm' and 'sheep' surely the sheep are the people who read this and make up their mind depending on your opinions rather than going and making their own judgements.

Good luck to anyone who decides to interview or work here. i hope you are a strong enough person to make your own decisions in life! and i can truely say that this company will teach you all the skills you need to be a successful sales person, the sales training is next to none so if you get through the interview at least stick out the training, they pay for it all! :)

    Regards,

    Ex 5G employee!

I had a call from 5G on Monday. The conversation did not feel right and alarm bells began to ring.
But I went on and answered the questions. Chloe had clearly not read my CV. I got the same questions as others have stated.

Later on I got a call saying that I had been accepted for an interview on Friday.

So I went on line to do some digging on the company. Glad I did. I will not be going.

    Hi

Thanks everyone for your comments. I was having a read through as someone I know has been offered a job for 5G and I thought something seemed a bit odd.

You might be intereted also in this link
    http://company-director-check.co.uk/director/900980518

Mr Micheal Holland seems to be director or has been director of about 20 companies all operating from the same place in high wycombe. Lots of which have dissolved. If the account info is accurate on the site then it would seem that none of them have any money in the bank.

This all looks a bit strange to me.

Thank you to all of you that have posted a comment/reply in this thread. THIS post that im replying to was the icing on the cake!
I have been called today, blah blah blah we really like you (or so does the 'manager') we want you to come for interview blah blah!

She was REALLY eager to get me to travel there for an interview. BUT, i then proceeded to ask my usuall list of questions i always ask when speaking to a recruiter:

    Q: Basic Salary?
A: We don't have a set/basic salary, it's strange i know, but thats how we do it. We look more about the personality?
My Reply: What do you mean you don't have a basic salary? Whats the lowest band? Average?
A: I really don't know, we have people here that range from £16.000 - £100.000
My Reply: Oh right, sooooo whats the salary for a sales rep (internal)?
A: We don't have one. If you like i could ask my manager to call you and you can hear it from the horses mouth?
My Reply: That would be good, OR, you could save him the hassle and ask him now. Then you can let me know.

*By this time i had got the last 1% confirmation that this was a load of bollox, making it now 100% CONFIRMED! Now i want to have fun! Let the games begin*

A: errm errm...He's alittle busy right now, but i can ask him later on and give you a call back?
My Reply: That would be great. I'd love to chat with him.
Q: I've been stung before with interviews and i'm just wondering, how many people are attending the interview process and will it be a case of 15+ guys/girls in a room all filling out applications? Because i find that to be one of the first signs of a seriously unprofessional company.
A: We do hand 'everyone' an application form to fill out before speaking with the manager.

    *Now for the best part!*

Q: I've been looking around and doing some reasearch on 5G Communication ~~~ BUTTED IN ~~
A: Oh that's good we love that...
~~ Yeah, anyways. I saw the company building and was wondering how many other companies you got there?
    A: Just us
Q: Then why has there been 22 similar companies registered there with approx 9-10 of them dissolved?

    BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP

    *Hung Up!

    Thank you.

I just was called earlier today by a girl called Chloe. She got my C.V from a website, totaljobs.com, although never confirmed. She asked me a few questions, about what jobs I've done, what I want to do etc. She called me back later that day to say I have a interview with them this Friday. Needless to say I thought I'll do some research on them, then came to this page. Admittedly I'm desperate for a higher paying job, but not this frigging desperate.

I'll be at work as usual on Friday :-/

Leaving aside the interview, the worst aspect of the job is the way they expect you to sell their services. You have to dress up like an engineer (boots, cargo trousers, white socks, cheap watch, hi-viz jacket) and knock on doors of small companies claiming that you are carrying out a telecoms survey. This is a ruse to get sight of the customer's bills, which you then fax to a controller at head office, and he will offer them cheaper calls and faster broadband (as long as they sign one of those rolling 36 month contracts that cost a fortune to get out of).

You have to meet with the sales team at 8am every day, and knock on doors until 5:30. Sometimes the management stalk the area to check up on you. Then you go to a team meeting in a pub somewhere around 6 - 6:30pm, so it's an 11 hour working day, the majority of which is spent being told to fcuk off.

Hi. I'm intrigued by all this.
I was called out of the blue last week having put my C.V. Online with Read. My experience was, somewhat different to many of you.
I wasn't bothered by the fact that they had been fishing for C.V.s, I would imagine that's fairly standard practice. The girl I spoke to was very pleasant, asked me loads about what I was looking for. She then asked her boss if it was ok to give me an interview as my work up to now has been so far from this field that, whilst she thought I might be ideal, the boss might not think so. She called me back half an hour later to tell me the boss would indeed like to see  me.
I was in two minds whether to go; the girl on the phone had told me there were a number of different positions available. I didn't honestly expect her to be able to give me details of salary etc. and fully expected it to be sales related.
I decided to go, if only for the practice of doing an interview. When I got there, the girls were perfectly pleasant. I filled in the application form and did the test, then filled out the personality profile.
It was fairly obvious from the fact that we weren't called for interview in the order that we had arrived, that they were seeing people who's tests and personality profiles best suited their needs first.
I am curious. I was told in both of my interviews that I had got 100% in my exam which was very rare. One of my interviewers actually told me that nearly half of the applicants don't achieve the pass mark of 27/36 and a surprising number get around 15/36. I wonder if this is something they say to a lot of people or whether it was the truth. My only reason for asking is that the exam was so ridiculously easy, I would have been ashamed if I had not got 100% and I'm far from being the brainiest person I know.
At the end of the first interview I was told that the position they were looking to fill was sales. He thought I would be ideal but that I wouldn't, ultimately be interested.
I went through to the second interview where I did all the things others have listed, but I can see the point of it all. They need to know what happens when you have to think quickly and use your imagination. They need to know how you will react in a hostile atmosphere and whether you can turn it round. Bear in mind, these people are not the sort of people who are saying "full training given" and the giving you a morning with one of their people before leaving you to sink or swim. They invest in you immediately by sending you on a three day residential course which, I know from experience, costs loads. They know that they demand a lot and that most people can't stick it, so they have designed an interview process to sort out the promising people from the rest.
I thought it was kind of fun, and I set myself the challenge of taking charge of the interview, which I thought I achieved successfully, getting my interviewer to sell his company and his product to me in such a way that I would be interested.
After he had done this I said "Are you offering me a job". He said "yes, but I don't think you will be interested as it will effect the other things you do in your life".
He did not, at any point try to force me to sign a contract. He did arrange for me to chat, at length with a guy who is working there. He has been there for about 18 months, if bright, very well spoken, a bit older than the average and is loving it. He had no reason to encourage me to come but gave me lots of reason to think it was a good idea. He apparently earned around £60,00 in his first year.
Before I left I went back to speak with the man who did the second interview with me. He did tell me what the wage structure was and agreed I could give him a call with a decision this coming week.
I have been unable to find any judgement against Universal Telecom, despite looking up the links suggested, although there are allegations. I tried emailing the person in charge of the investigation but the email address was not valid.
There is also nothing technically wrong with having several business set up with an address you happen to own or lease. It may well be that the MD likes to try lots of things. 5G have just signed a deal with O2 which would seem to make them more bona fide.
Maybe I'm being naive, but I do think that a great deal of the negative press on this site has far more to do with the people who went for the job and not so much to do with anything being particularly wrong with the company. Certainly, the people who have worked there or who are working there, with one exception on the site, all  seem to think it's great.
I would be grateful for feedback on the exam issue.

Likewise...  Got the call from Chloe yesterday morning who sounded bright and cheery - but clearly hadn't seen (or read) my CV... Asked some strange questions, and then asked if I'd be interested in working for 5G. I said I'd research them and get back to her.. I then stumbled across this site before she called back asking me in for interview..

ME: What does the interview process involve?
HER: Well you arrive and do a bit of paperwork, then have an interview. You may get asked for the 2nd interview the same day.
ME: The interview process according to some sources seems a little embarrassing?
HER: Some of the interview process is touch, but if you are willing to believe a web forum (she was clearly talking about this one) then you're probably not the right person for us!
ME: OK, supposingI did want to come see you, what is the job (!) that you'd like to talk to me about and the OTE?
HER: We have internal and external positions(!). They all have a basic and uncapped commission.
ME: OK, what is your top salesperson earning?
HER: You would need to speak to the sales director?
ME: Can I speak to the sales director?
HER: I'll see if he wants (!) to give you a call.
ME: I won't hold mny breath.
    HER: Ok, thanks, goodbye.

In short - a JOKE of a set up. Avoid at all costs!

Phone call 10:00 this morning. Rhiannon (sounded hot by the way hehe) we've found your CV (posted on Reed only the night before) and are interested in offering a position at 5G, have you heard of us before?
    Me: No not really,
Well that's fine (didn't explain to me what the company was involved in), Then tell me about yourself /  interests / hobbies / aspiring jobs, such and such. How long have you been unemployed?
Me: Never ( CV would probably confirm this????)
Oh good that's brilliant. Have you any Interest in telecoms sales?
Me: Nope, don't really have an interest in phones and computers (Barman/construction/landscape gardener by trade) nothing remotely close to sales on my CV,
That is fine, its personality were after (enthusiasm for the product your selling can sit this one out hehe) were not looking for a no it all, we can teach you the job. Are you interested?
I though for s***s and giggles I'll agree at least i'd get interview experience from it.
Good I'll talk to the boss man and call you back about 12:00

12:30 came, I've spoken to the boss, an interview is available for you tomorrow 11:00. Its a 2 part interview and will take most of the day. Is that ok?
(feeling uber suspicious, as a similar circumstance happened with another company a few moths before that turned out to be mega bogus, half way through the interview he literally described the company to work on the principals of a pyramid scheme, when I said this to him the interview was terminated and I was told to leave haha (GKR Karate) long story short did some research nothing but bad press. I'll go with my instinct and avoid it. Sent an email saying I'm not interested now waiting for a reply, got a feeling it will be a while :-).

Lesson being "If something sounds too good to be True, chances are it is"
