caller phoned neighbours despite me having a phone.

got a call from these people today 03 oct 2011 Debt Collections Agency. Person Wouldnt Clarrify themselves properly. Think its a dodgy fraudulant person looking for bank details

These people are chasing a relative who once lived in our house. Despite telling them we have no connection with this person anymore and no forwarding address they have continued to telephone us several times a week for the last few months. I am heartily sick of them but cannot make it stop. They are probably also telephoning our neighbours which is an embarrassing thought, as they are debt collectors.

these people have phoned asking about a neighbour surely they are in breach of data protection?

What a bunch of scum bags!! Been receiving nuisance calls from them on & off for about a year chasing money on a very old debt on a credit card. Basically, they're a debt collecting agency & have "bought" the old debt from a credit card company. In a nutshell IGNORE THEM!

They've only paid approximately 10% - 15% of the total debt owed & pressurise you to pay 90% plus of the debt. Hence they make their money on the difference on what you "may" pay them above what they paid. Any creit card debt is UNSECURED, so is virtually non-recoverable! They will threaten legal action, doorstop visits etc, all a load of cobblers!! If it's under £5000 (+/- a bit) they don't realistically expect to get anything from you, so, just ignore them.

They'll only get some money if you pay them................DON'T!

these people are harrasing us all the time asked about neighbour. This is sinister. Are they trying to find if you are in or out in your house.

If you can ban number from your phone.

I just receive a call asking if a neighbour still lived up the road.. He was very vague when I challenged him asking who he was and why was he ringing me . He said he was trying to find her over a personal matter.
How did he get my number when he doesnt know my name ? Because you cant search for a number with just an address... not a nice call... a weird call, but I see I am not the only one who has had this

They claimed to be a company called 2s asking for details about my neighbour. Dodgy.

Bumped into a neighbor at the local shops, who told me someone had called them asking about me, there number was unlisted, so didn't know how this person had got hold of there number, anyway, she called around a little later and gave me the number of the person who had dialed, i did an on-line search and came up with this forum, what an unbelievable method of trying to get hold of somebody, whats really annoying is that i have been in communication with this company through solicitors and personally!!!!! Don't know if these actions are illegal, but certainly seem to be un-ethical

hi ive just returned from doing the school run and my neighbour has imformed me that someone ahs rung his house asking after me i know i have a debt but am not financially able to pay as my  husband has just cleared off i feel hounded can someone help please

Basically as someone else said they are a very dirty underhand debt collecting agency and they have bought a debt.

They'll write to you, threaten you with court proceedings etc

FACT if you're debt is unsecured they can't do a thing, file all their letters in the bin, if they do send someone to your house (highly unlikely) tell them to F*** off and slam the door in their face.

If they take you to court the court will send you a letter THIS IS THE ONLY LETTER YOU SHOULDN'T IGNORE fill out the personal circumstances form and make sure you fill out the maximum allowed in each section.  Basically work it out so you only can afford to pay them £1 a month, the court will use this to work out what you can afford to pay.

The court will usually agree with you and make the judgement for £1 a month no matter how much you owe AND wescot pick up the court fees.  If you own £5000 it'll take you 416 years to pay them back, always pay a CCJ by standing order (never direct debit) and ignore anything else they ever send you.

Chances are they'll never take you to court because its not worth it, total scum bags.

Ps never default on a CCJ because then the court can order in the bailiffs

I've just had a call from these people, but I have caller display and never answer any calls from numbers that I don't know until I've googled them.

They're going to be out of luck because I don't know my neighbours.  I'll just suggest they get off their backsides and knock on my neighbours door if they want any information about them.

Just had a call from 01482483251. It was the second time they had called, the first time I had missed the call. I Googled the phone number, which is why I am here. The second call was from a woman with a Glaswegian accent claiming to be tracing a friend who lives next door to me. She was calling me on the off-chance that I knew them. There was no explanation as to how she got my number. I challenged her about calling me from Wescot, which she denied. Once she realised I was not interested in giving her any information the call ended.

have just had these people call requesting info on neighbour whom i dont know so they had no info from me...... but they shouldnt be allowed to do this.... didnt say who they were

I have just had these people on the phone, having missed a call from them yesterday and googled the number, so thanks to everyone here I was prepared.  The girl on the phone did inded ask me if I knew a neighbour down the street.  I have never heard of him as people often come and go in that house as it is a rented property.  I proceeded to ask her who she was working for and told her that they are ringing people all the time for info on neighbours. She denied it when I said they were a scam company and said they were regulated by the Office of Fair Trading and everything they do is above board.  She also said she hadn't called me before but I said you tried yesterday and I had found all the negative things on the internet about them.  I then ended the call.

Had them phone me about a address i have not lived at for 7 years now, when they asked for my street number of my old address i sais"I cannot remember it", they hurried and said "we shall see you in court......" and hung up

Rang my neighbours trying to find out my number they already have it and I have already made a payment plan with them. I have been making payments for a while. They text my mobile number everyday and now they are ringing my neighbours. I will ring them today and tell them to stop or I will sue them. The number is 0844241155.

what a pain these people are asked for someone who supposedly lived two doors away no one of that name lives there what are they really after

I answered a call today from 01482 483251 - from someone asking about one of my neighbours! Even if I knew them, I wouldn't give these people any information. Personal data is private to that individual!
