This number rang me to ask about a neighbour and asked if I know them, I said 'Oh yes, ++++  P+++++.  An elderly voice said they were trying to get back in touch but the number they had jusr rang out and they would keep trying.  The silly thing is, if they had stayed on the line, I would have told them the person had moved about six months ago.  What is more worrying to me, is how they got my ex-directory number to phone me in the first place, is this a case for TPS? Definitely an unsolicited call, even if they weren't selling anything.

I'm so embarrassed, one of my neighbours (who I have never spoke to in the 5 and half years we have lived her) has just knocked on my door. He gave me a piece of paper with this phone number on, said they'd just had a call from them, asking about our house.
2 weeks ago we received a letter from Wescot for someone who I've never heard of, I rang them and told them they didn't live here, they said they'd take this address of their system.
How dare they ring my neighbours asking about this house and a debt someone owes from this address, when it's not even us, and I've told them its not us.

I've just rung them again to have a go at them and they say they have to ring neighbours because we're ignoring letters from them!

Does anyone know if there is anything I can do about this, feel like I should complain to someone but don't know who

Hertfordshire Police Constabulary have issued a warning on this number and are following it up after several complaints to them.

Their statement reads:

Please be careful of the above phone number, we have received several calls trying to find details of residents who live in the same street. These people are very crafty they say does Mrs xxx live at a certain address they are waiting for you to give the correct name.

Never give any details out.

who is calling, asking after someone who hasnt lived here for years?

Just received a call from 01482 483251. Very posh English "gent" asking about whether a certain person lives two doors away. Very strange. I don't know my neighbours so could not help anyway. Then found several websites all reporting the same thing...I don't like this at all.

They are obviously still up to no good because I have just had a call from them asking about a house a few doors away from me. I said I had no idea who lives there.

I didn't think to ask who they were but then decided to investgate because it sounded weird and I was worried about how they got my number. That's when I found this site. I'm glad I did because I will be reporting them now!

Similar to above - constantly calling about neighbours in a tenemented area I have no idea about.  Do not remove my number from their list despite repeated requests that they do so.  SCUM!!...especially the "friendly" sounding man!  HAHA

cheeky fu*kers just foned me asking for a neighbour that lives in a block of flats around the corner asking if i knew this person when i said no they hung up cheeky [***]

Got a call this morning from 01482 483251 asking if I knew if someone by a Spanish-sounding name (can't actually recall the name) lives next door. Gave me her own name when asked, then quickly thanked me and hung up.

Got a call at 8.20am today, but no reply when I answered.  This number does not ring back, but they have another one on (08448241155), and were very cagy indeed when I phoned.  Don't like the feel of this at all.

Had a phone call about twenty minutes ago from a woman telling me she was ringing from Scotland, enquiring about a neighbour in my street.

She referred to me by my surname, where did she get that information? I rang 1471, Googled the telephone number and stumbled across this website, where I discovered the number originates from Hull.

What are they playing at? If they call again, the gloves are coming off.

Had a call earlier today from this number about a 'neighbour' a few doors away I said I'didn't know him ,which in truth was correct' .
