Just got call asking if a neighbour lived at a certain address on my street.

Yes have been getting lots of missed calls from this number so when I looked it up was clues up to Westcots antics. A slightly older sounding lady called and in a very "friendly granny" way said she was trying to get in touch with Deborah from number 15, two doors down from me. I said "oh I don't know a Deborah, it's just Marge and her husband who live there....oh what's his name again, yes it's Homer" I said. They have some kids but none called Deborah, just Bart, lisa and the little one, Maggie I think". I think she got the message but I told her not to call again....

I got a call from this number, checked online and saw that it's just a junk company calling up for no good reason...

So I called 0141 300 5300 (someone up the page wrote it and it was correct)

I asked for my details to be taken off the system (they were no help)

I spoke to a lady called "Sarah" and it is "company policy" to not give out your surname (also right from someone up the page)

Her extension was #10308

I'm expecting more calls from this place, as they are just really really dumb

Just had a call from this number saying you do not know me but I am trying to find and gave a christian name at number * do you know them I said no he said oh probably moved on then.

Why would anyone in their right mind call people and ask them to tell them about their neighbours, this is absolutely wrong, infringing on peoples privacy.

nobody should help tricky minded debt collectors....

got a call from this number asking if a guy called x lived 2 doors away

The number had called numerous times and I never answer what I do not recognise!  
It was someone asking questions about an old neighbour - whether they still lived there? whether I knew where they had gone? Surely it's an infringement on their and my privacy?

They rang me up asking about my neighbour and when I asked who they were they wouldnt tell me. The guy just kept asking if i knew anyone by my neighbour's name so I just said no.

01482 483251  Called me today (10th May 2001) enquiring about someone 2 houses away from me.Gentleman came over fairly pleasant saying it was a "long-shot" in trying to trace this person as he wanted to speak to her. I said i did not know the name in question  that the people in that house had a totally different name from the person sought.He seemed genuine enough & thanked me for my help..But the more i thought about it the more strange it became..Hence i googled the number & arrived here..

That's just happened to me too. Very sneaky.

Had these guys calling once a month for the past year for someone allegedly on my phone number (which I have had since 2008 and no-one has lived in the property prior to me) who I do not recognise.

Repeatedly advised Westcot's "assistants" that the person has certainly not had the number since 2008 and get promises to "remove the number as it would be stupid of us to call it if he is not there" ... then why do you call the same number again a month later?! The situation is not going to change.

Complaint raised to OFT and accidentally copied in Westcot's general e-mail address from their website. Probably have a rule on their spam filter that anything with "complaint" in gets binned. Also linked OFT to here so they can see it's not an isolated case of bad practices by a company with supposed values.
