They just rang me to ask about a neighbour. I stupidly admitted my address but had never heard of the person they were tracing. Very disturbing call. Not happy about it. Will wait to see of get any further calls. Thanks for starting this thread.

Had a call from a neighbour who had, had a call from 0148248321 (he is ex-directory) asking if a family member still lived here.  He put the phone down and informed me of what had happened.  Have read messages herein and decided to email company concerned.  Awaiting response.

Recieved a call during our evening meal at approximatley 8:00 pm. Caller knew the identity of myself and asked if knew my next door neighbour very instrusive and sinister !! ( big brother's watching you )

These people should be stopped as this is against the data law to ask about other people business.

Much like the previous comments- I've just received a call from them- did 1471 afterwards.  They were asking about a neighbor. The caller didn't give his name or company details. Just began asking questions. He had a Scottish accent.

I thought it was against the data protection law to ask about people business. Westcot are a shower of [***].

Have had 5 calls, now from these people. Are these practices legal? They pretend to be an "ordinary person" asking about a person at such-and-such an address but, having googled their telephone number, I've found out the reality. Not deception, as such, but a) bloody annoying phone calls, and b) dubious in OFT practice!

Had another call from a man today at 3.12pm asking for a neighbour whom i have never heard of.
I have asked them to stop after previous calls but they appear not to understand and so i have got in touch with them via email again as well as the TPS and will also be getting in touch with BT,my local Trading Standards and several others which have been mentioned on here as well as sending a recorded letter so a record is kept if any legal action is needed.

just recieved a strange phonecall at 7.29pm from a scottish sounding person asking for details of a next door neighbour whom i have never heard of. Asked where he had got our number from and he replied, electorol register. googled number showing it to be westcott credit services. Quite disturbing and wrong as others have highlighted.

Scottish bloke called asking for me by name, then asking if I knew where a neighbour was as he couldn't get through to him. I refused to talk to him and hung up.

Called me twice in space of 10 minutes - second time I was checking missed call from first time.  Asked about neighbour.  Didn't give out any details (you don't around here).

My neighbour received a call from this number this afternoon asking for someone at our address...I googled the number and came across this site, I have been back to speak with my neighbour and apologising for teh call and informed her that they are not allowed to do this...we have called the alternative number 08448241151 and they do not have any record of the call!!!  Bit embarrassing as now dont want my elderly neighbour to be bombarded with calls that have nothing to do with her or us

Funny how their identity is protected but they feel within their rights to contact random people requesing information about others!!!!

01482483251 Westcot credit services ltd. They are a debt collection agency using illegal means to get information on debtors and break the law in obtaining it. Contact the Office for Fair Trading or the Information Commissioner if they bother you about neighbours or other poeple whose debts are nothing to do with you.

Had another neighbour knock on door last night as they had also received a call from them....have contacted LLOYDS TSB collection department/solicitors to advise that I will make arrangement to pay whateve it is that I owe...stems from reclaiming bank charges, as I will not deal with Wescot myself and she refused to accept my efforts to make a payment arrangement!!!  Have reported to office of fair trading and compliance people

May i suggest that having being pursued by these people and consequently committed suicide, currently being pursued by my family,the case, that is, ifeel it only fair to "invite" these people to an address they feel relevant and "KICK THE [***] OUT OF THEM".  The powers of citizens arrest allow for "adequate means of restraint", therefore allowing the means of "restraint" required to restrain the subject.
(1) Spray sufficiently with a solution such as, MR MUSCLE OVEN CLEANER.

(11)fill the subject lungs with water sufficient to make them speak.

(111)Pour boiling water over the genitalia region.

There are plenty ways to seek revenge and my brother waits to serve it !!!!.

This number phones me every day and as I am work leaves no message.

Only by complaining to MP's, OFCOM, The Office for Fair Trading and the Information Commissiomner can we get the law changed to properly regulate scum like Westcot. If Westcot call you twice a day or more you can also report this as harassment to the police.

Dear Ms Jowell,

I am writing as one of your constituents and long time Labour supporter to raise concerns about Debt collection agencies and in particular Westcot Credit Services Ltd.

I do not owe this company anything, as they freely admit and yet I am being subjected to harassment calls by Westcot.

They started with a series of silent calls, which when calling 1471, came back with Westcot's Hull telephone number 01482 483251. I decided to call Westcot and find out what was going on. At first their staff said I was mistaken and they had not called. After the next silent call I looked them up on various websites and emailed one of the directors Paul Jenkins, asking them to stop phoning me. I have had no reply just an automatic email response saying my email had been received. After further investigation, I got hold of their "customer service" department who admitted they had called me in regard to “somebody in my area“. I made it plain that I considered their calls harassment as they were nothing to do with me and again asked them to stop. I received another call last night at 8 pm and for the first time there was a person on the other end. A bored incoherent Scotsman asked me if I could supply any details about one of my neighbours who lives at number 33. I refused to answer his questions and told him not to call again.

I have today sent a recorded delivery letter asking them to desist once more and remove my details from their database. Although, looking at their record, I doubt they will do anything or even reply.

I have reported them to OFCOM and the OFT, but they can't seem to help in stopping these calls. I am also considering making a complaint to the Police, but I gather it has to be a minimum of 2 calls per day to qualify as harassment, whereas Westcot cleverly only call once a day, so that's not likely to lead anywhere either.

I am not asking you to get them to stop calling me, but rather to inform you of this company’s trading practices and ask if there are any steps being considered to moderate how this “industry” conducts it’s business.
