I have had a slightly different experience - had a call from a female from Hannay Associates asking who the advertising contact might be so I gave them my name (I know, I was half asleep and wasn't really listening!) and then the phone was hung up instantly!  Later that afternoon I had a call from Hannay Associates asking for me but I was sadly unavailable at this time.

Today I have just received the call that after speaking with me two months ago - my memory must be getting really bad because I remember none of this - our advert is ready for print and they are ready to send me the relating paperwork, I confirmed that I had not placed and advert and we were not interested in supporting the emergency services through them.  Hung up end of :-)

We too have been scammed by this company and did receive the magazine with our advert in it but never at any time did we agree to this. We have asked for the order recording to be sent but to no avail and the staff are quite agressive over the phone.  Please do not get taken in.

That sounds exactly the method these crooks use. They scour business directories like Compass for businesses and call them up asking for their marketing director or a contact dealing with advertising. They get the name, and make a note of it for later use.

Sometimes months later, they ring that number again and ask for the contact's name and try to fob them off with the same old line of "You arranged this months ago," when you clearly didn't, but a lot of companies fall for it.

It works even more to their advantage if the previous contact they managed to find out has left the company, thus they can blag it even further to the new guy - who probably doesn't know the ins and outs of the company and are willing to honur the 'agreement' - which then turns into multiple runs in several magazines and diaries, sometimes costing thousands.

Best thing to do is make it company policy to not give names out to random phone calls, and sort your advertising out through an agency.

I'm surprised companies like this are still going, but where there's a loophole, you'll have the [***] to go with them I suppose.

So, from the previous post from Mark W, you've found out what company he works for or owns and whether it's dodgy or not. Yeah, okay.

Wouldn't be surprised if this was some phone monkey from Hannay associates trying some covert tactics which have stupendously failed. Roll on, roll on.

Hannay Associates (To the rescue - emergency services journal) are a SCAM COMPANY, they rang our offices claiming we had already pre-booked an advert with them months ago. The person's name they claimed booked this advert hadn't been at work for over a year and the advert they claimed we sent them was a low quality scanned PDF which had been created for a different publication a few weeks before they rang not months ago for them as they claimed.

No information can be found on the publication they claim to be publishing in. All their claims of the booking are false and hasn't been approved by any of our departments. I would ignore all calls from them.

A complete and utter bunch of b*stards... if they phone you, put it down immediately. We are involved in the public sector and especially the police and our staff were under the impression this was a reputable organisation. However, endless calls, the sending of invoices that we DID NOT agree to and very rude and stupid sales staff lead me to also confirm - AVOID this company like the plague!

I have made a formal complaint today to Merseyside Police.. who are one of MY customers and will keep others informed as to the outcome...

I will also be raising this company and it's approach/dealings with the SFO - again, another of MY customers... Hannah Associates, you tried it on with the wrong person!

Just had a call from this company - they told my collegue that I had placed an advert with them for an emergency services company when I had not. When I questioned him (Shaun Roberts) about why he had lied to get through to me he said he had made a mistake. When I googled him and saw this I asked him why so much bad press about them lying to companies - he said he was aware of this and that the company was in a legal dispute. I said if he was aware that his company was engaging in legal action over accusations that they were giving out false information, why on earth was he again giving false information to us today!!! Lots of excuses from him avoiding the point. I advised him to get some scruples in the way he conducts business and not to call us again. To me this company seems very dishonest and has an underhand way in which they conduct themselves.

We were recently called by these scum, and after previous dealings with Weinstein Williams, we are fully aware of the scams, so we played along with their call until I put the phone down when they said they would send out an invoice.

I think a simple Google search points out how much a devious company they are, with many fake websites and videos on sites to make them feel like a legitimate company, to try and hide sites like this and blagger. I just don't understand why this company is still active when Weinstein got shut down, and they're exactly the same?

I love this company!  They have been asking for money for an advertisement for months so I just tell them it is on its way.  I don't mind having the call as my company is closing down!  Keeps them going back and forth thinking they're getting the money.
Do they think we're stupid.  If you use an old company logo for us then that's the giveaway!!!!

TAPA is a scam mate, just like Hannay Associates and collaborate together. That's why they're not on TAPA's scam ledger but will appear shortly so TAPA don't look like the idiot scammers they are. I will post the primary TAPA scam thread below if you want a laugh. TAPA plant stooges to defend the scam on lots of forums. Eastway is their latest on here. Lots of shills and TAPA stooges on here all using the same phrases and illiterate spellings and arguments. Just hang-up if Hannay ring you but call the coppers and let the Insolvency Service know if you get demands for payment. Trading standards too. They are all keeping tabs on them and the TAPA criminals but need hard evidence to go for the kill. The Simister bloke is Anthony Michael Simister. He runs TAPA and a bunch of scam support publishers and call forums from behind the scenes because he was disqualified from being a director. Expendable uneducated kids are left to front the support publishing companies and man the phones on commission.

Another giveaway is that they have hoovered up the domain name http://www.hannayassociatescomplaints.net/

and fill it with articles.  Clearly people searching for complaints against them has rankled so they are trying to skew search engine results.

What company would title their news page 'Complaints'.  Idiots.

Hannay associates are a typical scam company, sound very confident on the phone except for a lot of stuttering like they are nervous. did a quick search and found that there registered address is not the address they are working from.
