What's been said before is correct - the company needs to provide evidence of debt and can get nowhere on threats alone.  They never bother to even forward CCA requests onto the client, because every debt they get is so old and has already been through several different companies already (usually First Credit somewhere down the line).  Even in the credit industry, MH is regarded as an industry joke - that's why they're usually one of the last agencies to be passed accounts to chase.

I received a call from Mackenzie Hall at 9pm this evening. I too do not owe anyone any money, so I googled the phone number and found all these comments....I won't bother contacting them as I know I owe no-one anything. Useful site, I hope they don't bother to contact me again!!!

got a text on my l/line today from MacKenzie Hall. my l/line only been active since 1st Dec, and we moved to our current address on 4th Dec. i'm bankrupt and my fiance has no debt. IGNORE!

Received automated text msg on my ex-directory landline today from company called Mackenzie Hall asking me to contact them urgently,as I didn't recognise the number I googled it and found this website and having read all the comments posted on it, ringing them back is the last thing I will do as I am debt free and always have been.Oh! by the way,the telephone number threy are using today is:

and the contact name at MH was David.

Wish I'd goggled then first too, Rosie, as they were very rude and patronising to me.  I won't be speaking to them again.

Can anyone tell me how long these text messages go on for and what happens if you don't answer them?  i know I have no debt and even checked my credit record in case someone had been trying to contact me at a former address.  I have had 5 text messages in a month.  They usually message me between 15:30 and 17:00 every Wednesday.  Today they seem to have stopped - does that mean they've realised they've got the wrong person or are they planning to call?

Yes, do NOT call them back - and if they phone you, do not confirm any personal details.

If what they wanted to contact you about was that important, let them write to you.  But you'll get no further forward by telephone.

I've lived at my current address for 18months having served in the army before that, I know I dont owe anyone money as I have no loans or credit cards or a mortgage but I have had several letters from debt collection companies and have now had two messages from Mckenzie Hall one on my mobile and on my landline.
The calls came from this number 01563556057 but I'm damned if I'm going to pay for the phone call to phone them back, seems to me that they don't know who they are looking for or are unsure who lives at the address/phone number they are calling.
I've looked into them and the other debt collectors and they all buy old unenforceable debts or statute barred but harrass the debtor into paying them as its a nice profit for them, apparently they keep the all of the debt since they purchased it from whichever financial company it was originally with.
I'm going to refer this to the OFT and would urge all to do the same.

i too have had a txt... saying this is urgent and to call grant and it stated a ref number... i will not be calling as im not in debt and never have been.... but if i hadnt of looked up mackenzie hall i would have prob called.... i dont know who these people are.... but if they think they can con me, im not having it.... anyone who hears from mackenzie hall... I just had the same experience - today's telephone number for Mackenzie Hall is 01563 556720, contact Lucy.  My caller ID gave the text source number as 0845 6021111.  Thanks to all for the information - I shan't be calling but more importantly I won't be worrying about it either!

A good contact for any formal complaint you may wish to lodge against Mucky Balls is Alan Stewart at East Ayrshire Trading Standards.  He's very well aware of this company and its practices.

My text message was from somebody requiring me to call Mackenzie urgently on 01563556544 and to quote reference number 10017790926.
This caused trouble, suspicion, denial, and unpleasantness in my household, until I googled these Kilmarnock-based cretins! These scum bags ought to be rounded up and treated like Basil Fawlty thought Franco treated the dogs in Spain!

Just send them round to my house.

Received two messages from McHall while I was out. One was live from 'Mark' calling from 01563554540, who left a ref.no. beginning with M and urged me to call him back on 01563556057.

The second was a text message delivered via the BT text-to-voice service, so I had to listen to the BT robot trying to pronounce McKenzie-Hall before it urged me to call Amy quoting a ref. no. beginning with 1000, on 08444115648.

I might just call them back quoting the 1000 ref. no.  I suspect the BT robot read the M as the Roman numeral for 1,000...

Of course, if they won't let me speak to Amy or Mark I shall hang up.  I don't want everyone knowing my affairs... :D

I received a text voice call from Macenzie Hall saying that I need to call them urgently.  They left a reference number - when I asked who the company were and why they were calling me they became very aggressive.  The woman would not tell me why I receiv ed the call (without me giving her my details) but would also not confirm who this company is.  The women then hang up.

I have no debt as far as I know, but when I explained this and asked if this was simply a sales call - she was very rude and defensive - but still would not give me details of the company.  I will not be contacting them again.

i do have a debt outstanding  they call mywork startimg to really piss me off they are obnoxious rude cheeky bxxxxrds m debt is only about 2 years old and i have been paying Black horse but now mackenzie are saying that they are now dealing with my debt and that they want me to start paying them but i have already been paying black horse so dont really know what to do now to be honest, as when i spoke to black horse they told me that they have been recieving our payment ??? please someone help.
