Had a call from this number at 9am on the house phone, my mother then called me at work and said that someone frm this numbet said they needed to talk to me urgently regarding a car accident i had recently, called the number back but cant get through at all, i`ve never had a car accident?

Been Bugged by these low lifes myself - after many many calls from the [***] I answered one and spoke to a bloke claimed to be from a claims line and he did have a manchester accent and said they were a claims company action something I gave him a piece of my mind and asked where he got my details from he said my insurance company. I called them and to be honest were useless (Churchill) they said they do share info but did not know who to and they would not give it to just anybody under the data protection act. I am waiting for a call from a manager to discuss the data protection act!!!

The guy that I spoke to said I called back on a pay as you go phone to test it and was charged 10p (I only let it ring 3 times)

Suggest like one person suggested if you are being bothered by them buy a whistle or an air horn and engage them in converstaion then give them the full blast. trust me as a training manager in a service centre with the headsets they will use they will feel it. Also I think they use what is called a dialler that will just keep calling numbers then when someone answers connects to a call handler that will explain the delay when you answer.

If you are being bugged by these [***] make life as hard as possible buy an airhorn or scream down the phone if we all do it they will stop.

I have had this number today, but i have put my mobile number on various compare car insurance sites so well.  I hope it will calm down after my renewal date, we will see hey ho ! !

Had missed calls last week and typed the number into Google and came across this site. I found a gas powered air horn in the office and have been keeping it handy waiting for them to call back. They have just called again and I got the lady chatting before giving her it full blast down the line for a couple of seconds then hanging up. Not expecting her to call back !!!

0161 Is a manchester code yes...but...if you use skype then you can buy a skypein number, (lets people without skype or even a cmomputer call your computer via the skype network), with all sorts of codes. I'm in cardiff and have a birmingham coded skypein number, perhaps this is the reason for american ringtones etc with seemingly english codes.

Had a missed call on my phone when I got back from work.  Called it back as I  recognised the Manchester code and thought it might have been my dad calling from work but got the weird ring tone and then tried Googling the number which led me here.

Thanks to some of the other posts, I'll be ignoring this one if it comes up again!

ive had over ten diffrent numbers call me and this is just the last in a long line when i looked up another of them it was from wales there was a phone number but it was out of service so presumably when they change the number calling me they discard the previous line completley but the company was called libramentum if this helps anyone!most annoying though yes

I had these fools calling me at 9.00 today american ring tone and dont answer...report them to police or BT best bet

keep receiving calls from this number- hangs up when I answer. I typed the number into google to try and find out who it was- found this website. I know not to ring it now

Called me around 4-5 times over the past three days...mainly whilst i am at work.
Really annoying, anyone know how to block these type of calls

This number is a call centre in manchester,who by law are allowed to ring if they have the number,however they only have 30 staff and call 50 people at the same time, so someone gets dropped if they cannot talk to you.it is to sell you something and the best way is the "telephone preference society" to knock it on the head. Ask your operator to give you the number for the call barring service,give the number to them and they will sort it out...
