Report a phone call from 01642878714 and help to identify who and why is calling from this number.
- JohnReceived at least five calls over two weeks, the last one was about 2am. Being elderly that frightened us a lot. Did not answer any as we did not recognise the number (which is coded for Cleveland UK) and no message was left. On two occasions tried to call them back (having withheld our number) but got the standard network response "the number you have dialled has not been recognised, please check and try again". How can that happen when their number came up on our phone caller display?
- Caller: Not known
- AnnieHad call from this number at 10.30pm last night, when I had gone to bed. Got up to answer it, as calls at that time trigger alarm re family etc, but answering machine had kicked in by the time I got to the phone, and they rang off. 1471 gives "number not recognised" - how do they manage that?

- GillJust had a call from this number, gentleman unbelievably called Archie. When he said 'Microsoft' I told him I didn't believe him and put the phone down. A few minutes later I had a call from the same number but didn't bother to answer.
- Caller: "Microsoft" though very unlikely
- Call type: Prank
- KTThis number rang my 86 year old grandfather today and managed to scam him into giving them access to his PC by claiming to be from Microsoft. They continued to state they were from Microsoft after I arrived and questioned them, they even almost took his credit card details but I stopped them. His computer has now been checked and all the security had been turned off and remote access granted. This is a massive scam by complete scumbags please make sure all your family know so it doesnt happen to one of them.
- fredboatsJust silence.
- manofkent9921.05.15 - 16:14 Aggressive male telling me that my computer was badly infected and he could clean it for me. Told him to remove my edtails from his data base.

- GWSTRAVENShame on whoever is responsible for making tthese calls. Someone phoned me from this number last evening at 10.43pm!!! but they hung up before I answered my phone. Fortunately I have a "blocker" phone and I have now added this number to my blocked list so they won't get through to me again. "Cheeky Inconsiderate Sods".
- Gerry LawThe usual introduction from an India accented woman - "we have traced suspect activity on your computer", I told them that what they were doing was illegal and they I was reporting them to the police. The hung up very quickly.
- Darren porterCaller stated from Microsoft said my computer needed turning on so he could check out whether or not it had been hacked I said did he think I was stupid he said he would have to lock my computer

- SK| 1 replyReceived several calls from this number today. Answered the last call to be told that they were calling from Microsoft in London (although I thought it was a call centre in India) and that hackers were using my computer to download a variety of illegal materials. They asked for my Microsoft licence no and started to give me instructions on how to find this on my computer. I refused to do this and they told me that my licence would be cancelled. They were very persistent and aggressive as I did not believe who they were claiming to be and I hung up.
- Jeeves replies to SKThere is no such thing as a Microsoft Licence which can be cancelled. This is just a threat to scare you into doing what they wanted. The scam has been running for years. The calls are from Inia and the telephon numbers are fake and changed with great regularity. The caller is NOT from Microsoft, or any of the Microsoft associates. Neither Microsoft or its associates would everasit is against their privacy rules. The rats who do 'phone have one objective and that is to get remote access to your computer. If successful they will install spyware to steal personal information like bank details and passwords. Sometimes they ask for money to "fix" the none existent faults but that is only after they get access. They know most people will refuse to pay but, unfortunately, by then the damage has been done. There is a warning about this scam scam on the Miccrosoft website and it has featured on several Consumer Programmes.
- WendyHad a call from these people, getting so many of them these days. Usual thing, trying to tell me I have a problem with my pc and when I say I know I haven't he gets rude. I said that I believed them to be operating illegally and that they were aiming to commit a fraud by trying to get into my pc. The stupid guy just kept on talking, nastily, over what I was saying and trying to convince me he was genuine. In the end I had to hang up - he didn't even have the sense to do that. Someone should do something about this as sadly there will be some people out there who will fall for it and allow them access to their PC's - a friend's elderly relative almost did last year.
