- j lumsden replies to Dieddy| 2 repliesHi had a similar experience Sigma is the company name claiming to place adverts in blue light emergency service magazine which as far as i can find out does not exist , we are a small business and they did seem very professional until i questioned them today at which point the female got very nervous and at the same time tried to be arrogant and make me pay for something that simply does not exist . I only hope other people read this before getting scammed i plan to post this as many sites as i can find complaints about them its disgusting.
- HobbyI recieved the call from bluelight in oct last year and thought it sounded to good to be true.
I think the caller was called bob and sounded very friendly. He explained that I had been recommended from a good source and the emergency services would like to use me for carpet and flooring jobs.
I said the deal sounded good but would like to see a magazine and how many were published in my area. I gave my details stupidly!! And now regret it!! I had the phone call 10 mins later about the payment and discount con! I said I wasn't agreeing to anything but would like to see the proof of publishing.
This was just the start of a very stressfull time and is still going on!! Sigma then got in touch with me about the advert and I gave them details explaining that I had not yet received proof of distribution. They sent me a mag with my advert and wrong information plus there was another flooring company even after been told I would be the only one!it's a scam and very easy to fall for if like me you are very busy and caught unawares!! Has anyone heard of peardrop?? or
Harvey and young? They have been sending me invoices and threaten letters!! Please advise all friends and business people to avoid these scamsters!! - jocelyn replies to j lumsdeni had a very similar experience last call i asked them to prove that they exist the female got very nervous and to date all i have had from them is invoices and reminders with threats of legal action i am prepared to go to court as i firmly believe they do not exist.
- Jonathan StephensI too had a call from Harris Cromwell offering my services in the local magazines for the police depo's in the area. I was completely taken in thinking it would be good to generate business.
absolutely p**** off with these type of idiots calling wasteing my time.
I now have a bodged up invoice and artproof of my trade in my hand with Harris Cromwell wanting £295 plus VAT! Good luck getting that!!!
what annoys me is these fools are going to be calling me for the payments
Surely they have no leg to stand on for payments etc?? I really dont want anything affecting my credit ratings.- Caller: Harris Cromwell

- i hate sigma and mr parker replies to Julieplease let me know there address if you ever get it as i am sick of them calling me and my girlfriend.
since we started a new company on the web they have some way of finding newly listed companies.
I will go and see the mr parker and sigma as i think they may understand my way of communication
is a better approach - Jonathan replies to James Monk| 3 repliesHi James
Just curious how have you got on with Harris Cromwell?
I fell into the trap and they have sent me an invoice for £354!
They are saying they will take me to court and are in their rights to do so as
It's a verbal bussiness agreement
Thanks
Jon - Alsby replies to SCAM OUSTERThanks so much for the info on Vision group I was well miffed I received an invoice they were assumptive and very underhanded I never submitted any artwork and they just took a screenshot of my website and said it's gone out already and hence an invoicd arrived before I ever said anything.
I heard that this company is connevted with a debt agency who basically invent your debt so they can terrorise you for it! they are criminal and tell trading standards immediately! - Shaun replies to James Monk| 1 replyHi there, i also had a call regarding some advertising in the magazine, i decided to go for a half page for £395. The week after i confirmed it i received a phone call asking how i would like the advert and do i have any logos or images i would like on it. ive seen a final proof copy and i am very impressed, im not sure if the figures of distribution are correct as they told me 8000 per quarter but im expecting the magazine this week. I am happy with how they have dealt with me so far. lets see how the magazine looks. will keep updating when and if i receive it,

- JD replies to JulieAs a genuine media sales person I can tell you there is no viable advertising opportunity, you will be wasting your money and the sales people on commission will be laughing all the way to the bank.
- FosterWell spoken young lady called Rebbecca contacted me from Sigma with much them same story as all the others before me
again pushing for the money via debit card and again pushing giving little time to check things out
They even offered me a discount based on two different people giving me a different story as to who actually receives the magazine then continued to ask for the monies saying that i had given a verbal agreement so I had to pay up
After I had seen the above comments I questioned them I am am waiting for the customer services guy to call me back, which i doubt will ever happen- Caller: Sigma

- tedHi there...
Same story with me the call ... this time Richard or whoever said it was afor an advert in a crime busters magazine-to help illuminate rouge traders, only approved traders would be included and that I'd be the only plumber in said magazine. I didn't catch that it was BLUE LIGHT. I had the follow up call from the girl, I said I was busy send me the details in the post... Anyways forgot about calls-which was supposed to be recorded? I never got any info in the post until about a month or more later I received a glossy advert with all my company details, but how horrible!! Anyway I thought well if they wanna send me stuff... Then about 2 weeks after that I got a phone call- the same girl I think, just calling to confirm my ad, blah blah- I said hold on a minute I HAVE NOT CONFIRMED OR ORDERD ANY SUCH ADVERT. Oh she cried I'll have to check and ring you back. Which she never did. Then I opened my post today and ta da... there's a BLUE LIGHT magazine with the horrilble- not approved advert in !!! AND AND!!!! an invoice for £210 payable in 14 days!! wot the hell??
Sort code 20-80-33, acc 83993345, bank- Barclays....
I mean ...as Gran used to say..'no wonder a person drinks!' AND how much time have I wasted trying to find out stuff and if my company will be black listed or something... grrr

- Adam L| 2 repliesJust received a call today from a scouser, number witheld but a Google search for 'Blue Light' Sigma brought be here. Apparently my small business could have an exclusive advert blah blah ... July edition ... generates lots of work ... linked to Emergency Services work ...
There are a couple of ways of dealing with this (bearing in mind I get called at least once a week with similar scams):
1) Tell them you are so inundated with work that the last thing you need is more advertising. They don't tend to have an answer to this.
2) If you are mildly tempted ask them to email you a copy inc terms and conditions of what they are proposing, the full costs and what you get for your money. Rarely do they send an email, they just run down the list (I'm sure they use Yell/Yellow Pages as it's the only place I advertise) and pick on the next unsuspecting victim.
How do I go about reporting each and every scam?- Caller: Sigma for Blue Light Magazine

So mad about this as I've been in business over 17 years and thought I could avoid scams but have already paid over 200.00 to Imperial Media for advert on Thinksafe web site, so dont expect I'll see that again! they have sent me a legit looking receipt with tel numbers, address etc and aa card payment machine print out showing my transaction when I paid over the phone
Have also been pestered by Harris Cromwell. They have emailed an invoice offering a discount if paid by mid -day tomorrow. It looks very suspicious and unconvincing with small pay pal logo etc. Thank goodness I decided to check them out then found this site and have not paid. Will talk to police tomorrow. - Doneuplikeakipper replies to HeatherHi all,
wish we had known about these scammers a few months ago!!!
My husband was contacted by telephone about placing an advert with Blue Light Magazine,if he payed for the ad in a certain time limit he would get a discount,he said he would think about it.Cost for add £174-00.
A few days later Blue Light aka Sigma (or so he thought) telephoned again and ask if he wanted to place the add in the magazine -cost £174-00-----so husband said yes and payed with card.He recieved an invoice from Imperial Media thanking him for the £174-00 for an 1/8 page advert in the Thinksafe Community Magazine---WHO!!!!.by now he is getting letters from Blue Light/Sigma regarding his advert in the Blue Light Magazine(and by the way the BLM arrived and his small badly printed ad is in it)demanding their payment of £174-00.
This morning my husband was contacted by another company who's name he can't remember but not Blue Light or Sigma) demanding payment for advertising to the amount of £330-00,he told them he did not know what they were talking about and slammed down the phone,5 mins my phone rang and a man with a Liverpool accent asked for my husband-I said he had gone out and asked if he had just phoned with a demand for payment for advertising-he said yes but he could'nt speak to me about it.
I told him I thought something fishy was going on and I thought it was some kind of scam.He then started shouting down the telephone that if my husband did not pay up by 5pm tonight that he would be sendind bailiffs to our address (which he then quoted to me).I asked him who he thought he was speaking to and he then told me to stick my head in a bucket of p***s!!!!!!-I know what I'd do with a bucket of p**s if he was stood in front of me!. UNBELIEVABLE!!!! of course the telephone number was witheld.
This is all rather worrying,we are working class people and are struggling to get by.My husband took out the ad in the hope that he would get some work from it,we are nearly 60 and have had a terrible year looking after both my parents who have been very ill.We could do without all this worry.Help. - Simon Winters replies to James MonkHi James,
I too had Paul Spencer telephone me and it wasnt until I was receiving calls demanding payment early that I became suspicious so I googled the company and ended up here. I have spoken to citizens advice and they have told me to write to them recorded delivery cancelling my order but when tracking the letter they did not accept it, I have now got to re-send the same letter and get a certificatation of postage. How did you manage to cancel I have been trying but they do no answer my calls or messages.
