    Hi,
Im not sure if this post is still active but i will give it a go. I have also been contacted as you have to the letter, albeit the amount they requested from me was £135 + VAT, hence why i dont need to type it all out! My line of enquiry took me to the HMRC due the fact i wanted to check the VAT number since they were charging the VAT.HMRC said the number was no longer in use and the matter was being forwarded to the fraud department. In essence it is not only the net value they are taking from you it is the VAT which is not being handed over to HMRC. I would suggest that anyone else does not pay the bills unless you can verify the VAT number exists. I had another call yesterday from a very polite young lady who asked if i had paid my bill, despite only having it for 2 days! i informed her that my accountant wasn't happy with the VAT number they had provided so i was unable to pay any invoices. She said she would check it out after trying to convince me it was legitimate. I suspect it is my responsibility no doubt to check these things out before paying so i expect everyone else should. I also have the police coming to my premise this afternoon after logging a complaint as a close business mate of mine got threatening letters  years ago for the same thing. I remember the stress he went through when told that bailiffs would come and remove goods if he never paid the bogus bill!! They need stopping ASAP as i have to earn my money like many others! Todays date is the 18 - 09 - 2012 so they are still very active at this old trick!

I too have just been done by this mob. I had just paid the money over the phone to them as they offered a 10% discount if I paid there and then. Little did I know that my mother was talking about it to my brother who is in Hants Police when they realised it was a scam after doing some research as my brother had never heard of the Blue Light Magazine.I was mortified as I had just started my own buisiness and thought naively it would be a good place to advertise.
With advise from my brother we contacted ACTION FRUAD who were very helpful and spent time taking all the details and then gave me a crime reference number for me to take to the bank.Hopefully I will be able to claim my money back and the bank can deal with SIGMA.

I too have been scammed by these people, got the magazine in with only 10 adverts in it all in south wales, I have a heating company in ayrshire (scotland), had the girl call me about getting the payment even though the guy told me payment wasnt due till febuary, Has any one gone to sigma with details of the fraud/consumer act or not paid the bill and or been taken any further than a debt letter?

If you haven't paid then don't.  Presumably they told you you would be the only heating company in your area? Then it's misselling. Ignore the calls, you can write to them also saying you reject the contract on that basis.  They won't take it any further as they already have hundreds of complaints via Trading standards & Action fraud.  You should contact your local trading standards office & get a reference number to show that you have taken action against them.  I haven't heard from them since I threatened legal action, don't listen to their threats, they are just trying to scare you into paying them the money when they don't have a legal leg to stand on.

I went to trading standards on monday and got free advice from a lawyer, there is so many counts on not to pay them, sent an email & a recorded delivery letter to sigma stating all this, then the girl rebecca george phoned me today saying if i paid up today i would get 205 off, when i told her i was holding payment as they do not have a valid vat no. she hung up the phone on me, my lawer told me to contact watchdog as apperently they have already done a programe on the guy andrew lownsbrough???

I shall not be paying them, so glad i didnt pay up front,

yeh the guy told me id be the only heating company in the mag, and they had got my number from recomentadion from gas safe

Just like the others I have read. Had a call from Jason, informing me about Blue Light magazine, stating they had a publication of over 200,000, distributed free within the emergancy services. Cost would be £175.00 per year for an advert for my buisiness. After asking for more information, of which I was told would be sent by email and it never came, I then recieved a call from a young girl asking for bank account details and to confirm the order. This I obviously declined.
As my wife works for the emergancy services, I asked her about blue light magazine. She has heard of it, but never seen it.
A week later, I receive a letter, with my art work on it. An exact print out of what I have on my web site and a letter saying that I have 7 days to cancel if I am not happy with the t&c, of which were not attached.
Needless to say a phone call from myself to cancel and a word of worning to others on this web site.

My hard working husband initally agreed to take out advertising with Cromwells (which he thought was a police charity).  He was then targeted by Vision and I guess possibly others!!!  Today I received a call from a young man from Vision who initially refused to speak to me when my husband passed me the phone.  He said that my husband had agreed to more advertising and a space had been reserved.  When I stated that we would not be taking up the space he ranted about how it had to go ahead and that he had received confirmation (quoting my husband's birth date).  Now that I have seen this blog I am really angry and feel that they have exploited us. It is such a shame because these people make it difficult for bonafide charities to secure funding.  We will now be reporting them through the channels already discussed.

I had a phone call from 01695575100 again regarding an advert in a magazine. I had a return call from Lisa who spoke so fast that I could not take all of what she said in. It seems this is a hoax where details are taken when you put your details on Yell.com. I said I would like a small advert but now it appears they just want my money. They taped the call can anyone tell me what will happen if I don't agree to the advert?. I have not given any bank dets etc. Thanks

I had the same call two days ago from Sigma and asking me to advertise in the Blue Light magazine. I confirmed I may be interested but I wanted to see a legitimate Blue Light magazine. Until which I did not want a advert. Twenty minutes later I get another phone call regarding accepting advert and asking me to pay asap and get discount. I advised I was not paying the invoice until I see previous magazines. They advised me I could pay in 60 days after advert is produced. I advised not to do advert until I saw the magazine.

Now to help you all. 1 contact action fraud and explain what as happened and tell them it is ongoing and crime numbers exist... I know Coz I have one. 2 - action fraud advise do not respond to any telephone call with them or even answer them. If you do politely hang up. 3 - your.local trading standards can do nothing believe me I tried... They just refer you to consumer direct online. 4 - consumer direct online no longer help they refer you to citizens advice online lol. 5 - report to watchdog.. Their director is well known for scamming. 6 - save All information sent and update citizens advice and action fraud. 7 - contact your MP and update him with their mis selling and that's, also staying they were approved by the local authorities even though they are not. I contacted my local authorities and they had never heard of them. Some.one on here create a Facebook group and state their lies, threats and scams. I can't as I only have mobile Web access. 8 - They are in breach of contract, they do mis sell, they are known of to the authorities but.only for committing  fraud. So next time they ring give them no time, if they threaten you tell them they are being monitored by action fraud and give them the action fraud number lol. Remember pay no money, report to Action Fraud immediately, speak to citizens advice, report to your MP...save your crime number... Fill in a watchdog report.

Foresters fund have put an advert in a shoddy looking publication.  I have never heard of them or spoken to anybody about advertising.  Firstly we received a proof of our advert (which was too late to change as it had already gone to press), I immediately thought my partner must have agreed to the ad space.  We phoned to cancel, and were told it would be passed on to the cancellations department.  Next thing we get a copy of the "magazine" and an invoice for £149.  Had lots of calls today from different mobile numbers.  Told them under no circumstances are we giving them money, to which i was told they have a recording of my voice!!  WTF??  And would pass it on to the debt collection agency.  So glad i have done some research on these people.  Will be contacting trading standards and reporting Vision group.

Just went on line to find an address for Sigma, and found this, I am gob smacked. I took an ad in 2011, didn't have any problems and was sent a copy of the Blue Light some months after the initial contact with an invoice they even dropped the VAT cos I wasn't VAT registered, I paid it and never gave it another thought. Couple of months ago I was phoned again and told they were doing this years edition and would I like to come on board, same terms as last year, I said yes.
I wanted to change the add a bit and we had some problems with the proofs but sorted it in the end, eventually a magazine came through the post with my invoice, I wasn't happy and rang them, I live in County Durham, and every other add in the magazine were for company'a in County Tyrone, County Antrim and every other County in flaming Ireland. I told the Girl at Sigma this and she said don't worry the copy they have sent me is only a mock up and they have not gone to print yet, she assured me that my advert would be in the edition for my local area. It seems I foolishly paid my bill, today a magazine has arrived from Ormskirk Lancashire, thats the postmark, My add surrounded by adds in Ireland.
I now realise I have been had twice.  Having read all of the above I am going after them.

I was contacted by police community clubs and foolishly made a payment to them. Immediately after i was haarassed by up to 7 different companies ranging from @helping kids with cancer charity' to blue light magazine. These people operate by pretending to be 'real' organizations, with a complex maze of websites to back their stories up. They all seem to come from the Liverpool/ Lancashire area.
I disputed the transaction with my bank who took it up with visa. (Apparently i had over 100 days to do this)
Visa incredibly awarded the dispute to the company (who appeared on my statement as 'Red Dragon Publications) as this company provided proof of postage because they sent me (recorded delivery) a copy of the magazine when i asked for one. I immediately sent them all the paperwork i had, and info from Actionfraud website and other sites, and got the full amount back. Anyone who has parted with money should do this and get your money back, i did

John Green and 'Lisa' from Sigma called me. I kinda got drawn into it, didn't have to give any detail straight away. Googled the name Sigma, found it was a load of b*****ks, checked with the police etc. Decided to ignore them. They did send a proof copy, which was pathetic, wrong details, wrong images, just plain nonsense about me. I think they tried to get another 'publisher' involved called  Security First, possibly based in Reading. Reported all details to Action Fraud, and kept everything as evidence.
