Thats exactly what happened to me. I moved into my new home and had a telephone put in.  Within 3 days this number started ringing me. How are they getting hold of phone numbers so quickly?
I dont owe anyone any money.

Sounds likely that the number issued to you was not "new" but had been previously allocated to another customer.

Ruddy pain in the rear companies like this need to be shut down.

I'm a pensioner with a bad chest and heart, twice today this number has called, both times it's stopped after only 4 rings. Now I've looked the number up I will not be answering even if I do get to it in time.

I'm sick of telling these companies I am not the person they are trying to reach. They obviously have a wrong number but just keep passing this account around. I just manage to get one lot to stop calling and it starts again from another number. Until now it's been 08707513077 which I found out was Lewis Group debt collectors, they have not called for a few days so I guess they are playing pass the parcel again.

TPS are uselss, Ofcom won't do anything, my phone company will not bar numbers if they are debt recovery. What the heck am I supposed to do ?

Keep calling leaving no message

I invested in a set of cordless phones which have call barring on them so you can add them to a bar list on the phone. Much easier than paying to have the numbers blocked. Hope this helps.

I have a Blackberry, a nice feature is to call forward - I have numbers like this one auto forward to.... the same number they call me on so some muppet sat behind a desk calls me and gets put through to another muppet on a desk in the same company - I can just see them scrapping over who is who and who owes what. Done this for a few companies now and eventually they get the message and stop phoning

I got a call, picked up the phone and, somehow, knew by the initial silence (no breathing, no background sounds) that this was yet another one of 'those' calls. I'm keeping a diary of these cold calls and 'just press 2' nuisance calls so I can report it to the authorities. I'm fed up with this waste of time stuff of answering calls where they get a machine to do the job! Advantis: Shut up and go away! I'll make my own mind up to ask for anything I need!

Advice to others, pause before speaking so you can listen first...and definitely don't answer with a cheerful 'hello, this is 01234 000000, can I help you?'

this lot phoned asking for someone i had never heard of told them i was with tps said they would remove number from database

The company is called 'Advantis Credit Ltd'. They are a debt collection agency based in Stoke-On-Trent.

Just received a call from this number and on answering heard the message "This is an urgent call from Advantis, please press one to be connected to an advisor."  On doing so, the call was answered and immediately cut off.  

On googling the name they appear to be a debt collection agency.

Another call from this number, this time when I answered there was nothing but the engaged tone.  Tried to call back and got the same engaged tone.  

Getting a bit sick of this company now, I will be reporting them to the TPS today.

I called them as they left me a message to call, but i called them from a private number, they proceeded to ask me what number they had called and left me a message on. They did a search and told me that they must have phoned incorrectly as there was no listing for my number.

got a call from this number picked the phone up the auto message said have an urgent call please press this number never said who it was for or what it was about i just hung up

I keep getting calls from these people. As my phone service provider now offers "Caller ID" my "Truecall" unit can operate to the max! When I get a call from this or other numbers I don't want, my Truecall answers them (which costs them money) and says "We do not want your call, please hang up and dont call us again!" my phone does not even disturb me by ringing. Nice one!!  this is not meant to be an ad!

Its a loan company, my elderly father in law keeps getting them. Don't answer cos they will know line is active and u will get even more calls.

I am being pestered daily by this and another number which i think belong to the same comany.  Report to OFCOM.   If they recieve enough complaints they will investigate and hopefully fine them big.   I feel sorry for old people who probably fall for it.  Its legalised fraud.

They rang this morning asking for Scott Christian. Pointed out there was nobody of that name here and we had held the number for over six years. If they ring again I will record it here

I received 2 calls from them today, one in the morning & one call around 5pm.
I called back and a young guy answered, very polite. He asked my name and number, I gave gave it to him, he apologised and said they had called the wrong number!!!!

Just a quick heads up to everyone.

I don't think this company are your usual pests..........They are actually looking for a relative of mine who stayed with us a few years ago, she obviously used our address and phone number when getting herself into debt. Silly girl!

'Running a small business myself, may I suggest if any company pesters you and you have their contact details, simply send them a bill for your time (I'm not joking) '

I aso received a call today from this number 01782401123 with automated message for me to speak to somone?? very strange as my number is very new  like 2 days old and i havent gave it out to anyone!

This company continue to call me twice a day.  I have no debts so they have no reason to keep harrassing me by calling my number which i have had for 12 years.   If someone wants to inform me of something then let them write to me.   I will continue to report them to ICO.
