- Annayou have been scammed im afraid.
- AlexJust got a call from this number but ignored it, I've just got a Vodafones contract through mobiles.co.uk (which are Carphone Warehouse), both are reputable companies and I would use them again.
This sounds like something I've heard on Watchdog, see my link to the bbc website (the company here has a different name, but the way they work sounds worrying familiar):
http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/watchdog/2008/12/m ... misled_int.html - AlexThis may help protect the reputation of the companies that sell you the mobiles, as they are not passing on your details:
"when it calls it knows practically nothing about you. It has picked your number at random from a sequence of thousands of numbers and knows only which phone network you're on. It doesn't even know your name. When it asks you to 'confirm' your details it is actually getting them from you for the very first time" Source: http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/watchdog/2008/12/m ... misled_int.html - mikewe have recived the same phone call like everybody else and i was lucky that i checked my bank statement before they could get the money from me. i called them back and i told them i will report them to the police for getting money from me. i also had to close my bank account. i hope someone will do something about it and that will not get away with this. when i wanted to report them the people from the bank were not interested to do it. they say they are real estate agency http://www.reifs.co.uk/ . this is the web site. i forgot to mension that i both the phone from phones 4u. i think it's a connection between them and i also suspect that my phone was already used. it was unlocked and it's not working very good. on top of all this my bill came out much higher that i agreed with them
- mikei just forgot to put my caller id
- Caller: http://www.reifs.co.uk/
- BarryI have just got my new contract through Vodafone from Phones4u. Got a call of REIFS stating they can reduce my monthly payment from £9.99 to £5.88 with the first 3 months at at a sum of £22.50 and an admin fee of £45.00 as you can tell alot of money involved so i stayed on the phone with them and also rung them back. ( got straight through no problems )!! well after calling them back i explained unable to pay the £45.00 as to much money to soon. I then got it removed but still pay the £22.50 for the first 3 months then nothing till Feb10 which was only £5.88 I felt nothing wrong with this company. i even checked there website and the FSA an it leg-it. But you have to cancel your old insurance before payment come out or you will pay two charges the first month.
- mikesorry mate....but i dont belive anything u say.....u may be one of them people.
- AlexMy girlfriend has been getting these calls for the last week or so and this evening answered the phone and gave OUR bank details over the phone. They did make it out as tho they had all our details already and really did convince her that it was all legit, and only mentioned an admin fee at the very last second as they were hanging up the phone without saying how much it was!!!!!!
I am not so gullable!!!
Came straight on here, did some research and have had to cancel our cards and now have to wait 4-5 working days before we get some new ones. Hopefully we caught it in time and havn't lost any money!!
How do you get hold of rogue traders, something needs to be done about these scumbags.
We are on vodafone but got our phones through dial-a-fone. I am not best pleased! I also think my phone is a second hand phone/number as i keep getting calls from people asking for jane??????????????????
THIS IS A SCAM, IF YOU HAVE GIVEN YOUR DETAILS I RECCOMEND YOU PHONE YOUR BANK STRAIGHT AWAY AND CANCEL IT ALL!!!!!
I AM ONE UNHAPPY PERSON!!!!!!
BLOODY FRIDAY 13TH - janieJust received a call from these guys, and they sounded genuine, and I took out the insurance. Did think it weird when they said about how no payment till February was to come out, and that I had to cancel the old insurance direct debit (surely it would just change?!) - so come on here and now about to ring my bank to get everything cancelled!
They gave me the name of Super Cover PLC (said that's what the D/D would come out under)
So annoyed, I was having such a good day too. - GemmaI have just got a Vodafone contract from the Carphone Warehouse. I do not answer numbers that I don't recognise but they have called me two days in a row now. Now that I know who it is I can ignore it and hope that they give up! :D Thanks for posting this!
- amirI have had the same done to me - got a vodafone contract through mobiles.co.uk, & I have received lots of call from them, but I have not answered them at all beacause nobody has my number except my girl friend! I use this as second mobile! we should report them to vodafone....& stop them once...for all..
- NessaThey tried the same thing with me but luckily l came to my senses quickly and phoned them back to cancel that say day but the woman wasn't too happy about it. so l ran to the bank and asked them to block all transactions coming from them so thankfully they were not able to get any money from me. also registered with tpsonline today, hopefully all nuisance calls should stop soon.
- Concerned ConsumerBeware of Fraudsters. These types are confidence tricksters, they pretend to be your mobile company , bank, or whatever and cold call to get you to "confirm" bank details or your card number or the 3 digits on the back! They may appear to have some details, so as to get you to believe their story. If it is not a complete scam it may be a worthless phone insurance warranty. They are targeting the vulnerable and those who are easyily misled.
- CeeHonestly these people annoy me, I knew it was a scam as soon as they mentioned that I could not go in store and do it via carphone warehouse, and constantly urged me to give my details over the phone.
Where can I report these scumbags?
I Also recently took out the contract with vodafone from the carphone warehouse. Now do you guys believe theyre selling on our details? - :(starting to loose faith in vodafone
- kevin lakeif u do go through with the insurence and make a claim u will see that they are who they say they are and the policy is cheaper and more cover over ur handset so dont knock it till u try them ther alot better than p.a.s and geek squad.
- Cultysutheru no there in trubl when staff rite on here
- Andrew in BelfastI had these clowns call me at 10am this morning, luckily i missed their call so didn't get the chance to be put on the spot or mislead. Im actually quite looking forward to their call, now that i am familiar with their 'operation', for a bit of scammer baiting as there's nothing I like more. As a thanks i will be sure to come back here with a bit of comedy! In addition both mobiles.co.uk (a part of the Carphone Warehouse) and Vodafone will be getting calls to see which one of them are breaching the data protection act seeing how I did not agree to my details being sold!
If you really want cheaper mobile insurance check out TalkCover, i got BlackBerry 9700 insurance for £4.41 per month and they were recommended to me from a business owner who has been insuring with them for years:
http://www.talkcover.co.uk/- Caller: 'Real Estate International'
- KevI had the same problem as Lucy and they took 45 pounds off my account as well.
Will go to the bank and ask about it tomorrow and their email is fake.
As you cannot send email to them
And will go and ring them up tomorrow and ask for refund. - scepticalI also got a call from them as soon as my new mobile number (vodafone contract through phone4u) was activated. I gave them my name, address and d.o.b. and I start becoming suspicious when they wanted to get more info. So I asked them to send me their offer by regular mail. They immediately close the conversation.
