So fed up with calls to house phone.  Not just this number, alot are unavailable or international.  The other week was getting them at 3.50pm everyday. Alot of times its unavailable and then 1 minute later international.  Is this the same people ringing, to coincidental to keep getting calls like that.

Up and down like a yo yo from me seat all time.  Was getting loads other week, in the end i pressed answer button never spoke and slammed phone handset down on table while still in the call, hope they heard, was so mega pe'ed off with it all.

There must be something that can be done beciayse its just plain nuisance calling now.

I just had a call to my home number (which IS on TPS) from 01792 311 560 (but it was initially "masked" as an 009*** number, appearing to be from abroad. Caller is an Asian-sounding woman. She asked for me (title and surname) then said "I'm calling about your computer" - alarm  bells rang, so I told her in no uncertain terms not bother me. (And blew a whistle into the handset too, for good measure...)
If you get such a call IT IS A SCAM - please don't engage with the caller or you might land in hot water if your computer lands up with a virus/trojan/spyware.

Interestingly, the number initially showed as as 009xxx but in fact does appear to be local when I rechecked the log on my phone.

There ARE laws to protect us from callers in the UK - if you're on TPS (Telephone Preference Service) and have the number and time of the call, you can register a complaint.
The ICO (Information Commissioners OFfice) upholds the law on this too - but only has jurisdiction over companies operating within the UK - hence the attempt to appear to be calling from abroad, I presume...

On going to report this to TPS, it turns out Scam calls are handled differently to "cold calls":

    "Scam Calls

The remit of the Telephone Preference Service (TPS) lies strictly within the boundaries of live unsolicited direct marketing calls. Scam calls or calls of a fraudulent nature are outside the remit of TPS.

Registration with TPS does not stop scam calls and the TPS complaints team does not have authority to investigate scam calls i.e calls claiming that a computer has a virus and offering remote technical support. Please report such calls to your local Trading Standards Office and/or the police."

Asked for me by name: I said I wasn't in.  Asked for my husband by name.  I've been divorced for 15 years. Asked who they are.  He told me.  Told him I'm registered TPS.  He assured me they check with them.  Obviously from the vast numbers of responses here, that's a lie.

Rang about claiming PPI payments.  The telemarketeer said there was an outstanding PPI reclaim for me, but never said what.  I know I have not taken out PPI insurance in the past 10 years and so said I was not interested.  He was very persisteny and I said thank you and rang off.
For those looking to claim PPI back, do it yourself.  A call or a letter to your provider is usually all that is necessary.

Call @16:00 hours. Asked for an individual who has never lived here. Told them it was a wrong number then they switch into their script saying I might still benefit. It was the usual PPI nonsense. Told he I had never ever had PPI but she then tried I might not have known. I replied with "After 42 years in H.M. Revenue & Customs I think I might know more about finance than you" That ended the call

Anyone receiving unsolicited calls re PPI and Accident Claims should report them to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).  It is easy to do online.  They are in the process of fining 2 of these pests £250,000 each for making these calls and sending texts.

Fourth unsolicited call received from this number, in the space of 3 months. I've now complained to the TPS and also to the Claims Management Regulator, for the Ministry of Justice. Their website http://www.justice.gov.uk/contacts/cmr

You need to complain, as it appears there are lots of people on here receiving calls but the Claims Management Regulator has no idea.

01792 311560 called my home number (which is ex-directory!!!) but did not leave a message, so I dialled 1471 (to get caller's number) and tried to ring them but no response - hence checking this website, so I shan't be calling them back.

But greater question is, where/how do they access people's phone numbers?   Also, these are nuisance calls.

This number called me at 20.28, left no message. Get these calls constantly both on landline and via text message and email. Consumers Association are doing research and want to collect all such phone numbers.

Had a missed call - so rung it.  Man asked me my postcode and house number, would not tell me who he was and why. Lots of voices in background, so I suspect a call centre. He got stroppy when I wouldn't give him my house number.

I've opted out of "cold calls" from sales people - aren't they open to prosecution for ignoring the telephone prefernce service register?

I've had 2 calls from this number today. I am ex directory and also registered with the TPS. Someone at TPS is not doing their job properly if these calls are getting through. What's the point in registering with them if they dont do anything?

READ THIS ALL OF YOU :-)

    Here you go people !!!!

This is what you need to do to stop these calls !!

    Information from "OFCOM website"

Quick tips to stop nuisance calls
To stop unwanted sales and marketing calls, register your phone number – either landline or mobile – with the Telephone Preference Service. It’s free and takes 28 days for a ban to come into effect.
Talk to your provider about services to block unwanted calls. For example, BT offers a number of services to help stop unwanted calls, including ‘Privacy at Home’, ‘Choose to Refuse’ and ‘Anonymous Call Rejection’. Other providers offer similar services.
Some products – such as trueCall and CallBlocker can be used to help block unwanted calls. Please note that these are commercial products and are not endorsed by Ofcom.

The TPS must be the ones handing out our numbers after we put it on their database! These calls are from a UK landline and there's 25 pages of people being harassed over 3-4 years! Clearly the TPS do nothing! From filthy Asian countries they have no control, but calls from UK (Welsh) companies are the ones TPS claims it has the power to stop...obviously the TPS is pathetic!
