I'm pretty sure that if your (landline) number has been called by another party, there's no way you can incur charges on your bill as a result of pressing a key on your phone in response to a prompt from the caller. If anyone has any evidence of this having happened to them, I'd be really interested to understand how it works.

I believe the only hazard you face from responding is that you're confirming to them that you are a potential sucker who understood their spiel enough to press a key as requested -- so the odds are that you'll get more calls from them, and from other no-good scammers whom they sell you number on to.

Had a call from these people felt uneasy about them glad i did

what you mean this company is going into liquidation???? i claimed through this company and had 5k back even tho i tryed to claim myself i was unsuccessful as the bank rejected my claim said i agreed to ppi! i know its a nuisance these calls but they helped me get my money back and was very pleased

We Claim U Gain charges 25% + 20% VAT of what is due to you from your gross PPI claim.

So you lost out on approx £2000. Unless your hourly salary equates to that you've been mugged.

They've submitted their accounts now. No idea what their P&L figures show but if Jack's anything to go by they'll be OK

best bet dont ring back. search for number. you ring back they know your ther and sell on your contact info. also txts from them DONT REPLY its part of ther scheme again to see if your number is used etc

By the sounds of it they are a call centre with various interests. I had a call today where they were claiming to be We claim you gain and can claim me back PPI. I told them I've never paid it and they asked how can I be sure. I told them I have a degree in accountancy and work in the financial industry (all true) and I have checked my policies and know how to spot PPI. She was OK with this but then asked if anybody I know has been mis-sold PPI. I just said no and goodbye. She wasnt rude, just a typical call centre worker trying to get a sale. I imagine they are the type of call centre where on any day the same person can be ringing and saying they are from any company. They get 'campaigns' and will probably spend 6 months calling for one thing or another, anything from re-claiming PPI to bringing energy bills down or trying to sell you a mobile phone, then once they've done a set time on one subject matter they move to the next.
Also, they are not dialling at random. they buy your details from companies you have genuinely dealt with, they just buy a whole database which is put into a computer which dials the number for the caller and displays your info on their screen. They just have a headset and it rings when the computer tells it, not when the person dials. Mobile phone providers, both network and the shop you buy it from on the high street are apparently big sellers of your info. Its written in the small print of your contract which nobody reads so never opt out of it unfortunately.

This company has rang me nearly everyday for the past 6weeks,sometimes ringing 8times a day. I just ignore when i see the caller display.It is a joke,i have never had ppi,,so where they get their info from ,who knows. Just wish they would bog off!

just tell them you haven't got time now and could they ring back on another number? 01283233349. its the claims regulator, they have plenty of time on their hands to deal with these rule breakers.

01792311560-My girlfriend gets these calls all the time.She never answers to u/k hidden or other forms of unknown numbers.PPI is a current favourite,but other subjects get in to.I look them up.They are annoying but people need jobs.You can never escape them.Ignoring them is best then they don't get into your head.Good Luck in 2013 and thanks to site owners for our voice on these nessesary pests! I just got i call from this number i could not get who the company was from, but when i said that the person the were asking for was not here, the guy told me to F..off. and put the phone down so i rang them straight back and they put me through to the manager who apparently listened to the call and said basically that i was the liar. There needs to be more of a law on these sort of calls.

Got a call from this number - no message left - which was very unsettling. I felt someone might have been contacting me re my mother who is in hospital.  Rang immediately - no reply - then did this search.  Hate cold callers.

Thanks! God these muppets are expensive! Think I'll claim my own PPI back, not giving them a third!

Don't get mad, get even. The ICO can fine them up to £500,000 for breaching your right to privacy.
