It is me again. Phone number of Clark Carbon Capital is now 0041 435082226 from Switzerland but I believe they are still operating from the UK. As I mentioned before that they have no authorisation in Switzerland.

I was several times contacted by a company raremetals, www.raremetalinvestment.co.uk to invest as little as GBP 3500 in as the name says in rare metals( making 22% profit). It is the same structure as the carbon credit scam, only the product is different.
If you compare all their websites, they have all similiar phrases like, "We have combined 30(50) years experience". It is recommended that you keep the carbon credits, rare metals, etc. at least 1 year.
If it is such a good business why do the need to call people out of the blue to ask for their money?

I believe there is a certain group out there who know each other and that they circulate details from clients to each other particularly people who have fallen as least once victim to them.

As previously indicated, there is not much you can do to get your money back from many of these guys as the company has no assets. However, I am in litigation about mis-selling of carbon credits from a larger company. Would like to hear from others who have been mis-sold and who through as a class action is possible

This is not strictly true so those of you who have lost money contact solicitors who specialise in fraud. Obviously the company bank accounts won't hold the money - the thieves have it. Search, search and ask questions and don't take no for an answer is all I can say on here.

I have an investment with Enviro and I can confirm that I paid the lowest price that I have ever been offered for carbon credits, and they are still open for business, what does that tell you? If they were doing something wrong they would of been shut down by the FSA long ago as many other companies that are scams have been. Why are climate care charging over £7 for credits and condemning ENVIRO for selling cheaper?

Its a risky investment but if you are buying at prices lower than companies are able to obtain to offset then it is definitely a good investment for the years to come.

Good luck with that Chris, I hope it works for you. Remember to take profits AND hang on to them.
Have you seen the BBC article on Enviro
    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-hampshire-20265034
There was a BBC South Inside Out investigation on the company but it is not now available on iplayer.
You can pick up CER credit for about 50p a Tonne. Be interested to hear what you have bought and at what price and have you seen any registration?
    Again, good luck.

June 12 - Carbon Credit fraud

The NFIB is alerting investors to the dangers of purchasing carbon credits from cold-callers.

In the past year the NFIB and Financial Services Authority (FSA) have received a hundreds of reports from people who’ve been promised massive profits by investing in the regulated market used by companies to off-set their carbon emissions.

Fraudsters with the appearance of professional financiers are selling carbon credits that they claim companies will later buy back at much higher prices. Sometimes they say you are legally obliged to buy them or that a business is legally obliged to buy them back in the future.

The reality is victims are handing over their savings for worthless vouchers from an unregulated market, with individual losses running into hundreds of thousands of pounds.

The NFIB needs to inform all investors that:

If you buy carbon credits you WILL NOT make any money no matter what the salesman says
Companies will not offset their carbon allowance by buying carbon credits from individuals – as the salesman claims.
Companies will purchase carbon credits from other companies/brokers and these deals take a lot of time to set up and are heavily regulated – for this reason carbon credits are not investments that an individual can make money on.
There is a heavily regulated market for carbon credits and this is the market that the salesman will be referring to. However individuals do not invest in this regulated market. What the salesman will actually sell you is what is known as a “voluntary” carbon credit where environmentally conscious small businesses and individuals pay to off-set their carbon emissions. This is not a “regulated” carbon credit.
These are bought by the salesman for around 50p and sold to victims for a massively inflated priced dressed up as carbon credits from the “regulated” market.
If the salesman believes that the victim has more money to invest they may even give a return on the initial small investment to build confidence in the victim. They will then request a larger investment promising higher returns. The victim will jump at the chance and then lose all their money.
If you are cold called and offered carbon credits – HANG UP THE PHONE IMMEDIATELY!
Director of the NFIB, Det Supt Dave Clark, said:

“Investors are attracted to carbon credits by the promise of big profits coupled with the legitimacy and security of buying into a regulated market. The reality is if you buy carbon credits you will not make any money, no matter what you are told over the telephone.

“Carbon credits are just the latest line in mass-marketing fraud, placing them alongside shares and land. The sales pitch is slightly different but the objective is always the same – to take for you as much money as possible. Fortunately there is a simple way to stop the fraudsters in their tracks – put the phone down.”

Anyone who thinks they have fallen victim to online fraud should report to Action Fraud on www.actionfraud.org.uk or call 0300 123 040.

You cannot believe everything you read on the Internet or in the media (including BBC), either positive or negative. The real fraud/misselling is conducted by brokers who promise an exit plan to justify an inflated price - which turns ot ot be make believe. They then hide behind the small print in the contract which indicates that any representations made cannot be relied upon. The Unfair Contract Regulations provides consumer proteaction against this. I have spoken to Enviro (though have not invested through them) and it is true they offer some of the cheapest credits around and did not try and induce me into buying through an exit plan, though thy naturally over-hype the potential.

To my discredit I invested through a major wholesaler on the basis of an exit plan I have in writing. I cannot release their name as I am in litigation with them.

I have not found a single investor who has yet been able to sell. But this does not mean it is a dud investment, though perhaps more speculative than we were lead to believe.

I have been through the mill on this. Do not believe any broker that induces you to invest based on an exit plan. It is almost certainly bogus. The market will open up and when it does we will see where the land lies. Pressure on companies to show green credentials will grow as our environment deteriorates and we see more and more catastrophic floods and storms. Carbon offsetting is the only mechanism to do this. Companies wont do this because they care about the environment they will do it because it will make them money in the same way that supermarkets started offering organic food. Not because they care but because it will make them money.

May I ask what you have paid for your credits and on which project(s)

It seems odd for a wholesaler to sell direct to you, normally they only go through a broker. How did that one come about?
  • 0
Indeed it is odd - I think they set up a small internal 'retail' unit as well as selling mainly through brokers. The good news from my point of view is that they are less likely to simply disappear. I will release much more details to interested parties once I have settled.

i have now heard somewhere in the region of about 30 names in connection with this company, as i have said before i have spoken with my solicitor had i have been told there is no chance for justice unless we have video evidence of people making calls or someway to prove what these peoples roles where within the company they will always walk free we need to go after the directors and banks they are the only people who can be help accountable, unless we can get this evidence!!!
