- SarahWhy do I keep getting phonecalls from this number that just wait till I answer then they hang up the phone? Do they not think that people are busy with a life of their own to lead. I have 2 kids and normally win they ring they wake one of them up. Its so annoying it's unbelieveable. It winds me up so much, how would they like it if somebody keep ringing them up and putting the phone down when they answer.
- Caller: ?????
- XZrang many time. when answered the phone, no one there.
- Jenifer WardI have had 15 calls from this number. I don't answer calls from numbers I don't know so I don't know who it is calling me. I figure that if it's important they'll leave a message, but they never do. Sometimes they call when I'm putting my little boy to bed or reading his bedtime story and it really pisses me off when I rush to get the phone and this number shows up.
- Caller: Don't Know
- Chrissend this letter to homeserve they should then disappear!! if not do report them!
Dear Sirs
Harassment by telephone
Account Number: XXXXXXX
I am writing in relation to the quantity and frequency of telephone calls that I have received from your company, which I deem to be personally harassing.
I have verbally requested that these stop, but I am still receiving calls. (Delete if necessary)
I now require all further correspondence from your company to be made in writing only.
I am of the view that your continued harassment of me by telephone puts you in breach of Section 40 of the Administration of Justice Act 1970, and the Protection from Harassment Act 1997.
If you continue to harass me by telephone, you will also be in breach of the Communications Act (2003) s.127 and I will report you to OFCOM, Trading Standards and The Office of Fair Trading, meaning that you will be liable to a substantial fine.
Be advised that any further telephone calls from your company will be recorded. (**Even if you don‘t yet have recording equipment!!**)
Yours faithfully,

So im actually off to complain to them now. :)
- Miss MT MurdochThis number calls at least twice a day, but nobody ever speaks.
caller ID: 0192242057 - Pensioner replies to Homeserve EmployeeHomeserve Employee - Yes, you are right, it's your job and you're lucky to have one, I wouldn't begrudge you that.
However, you state that if we tell the caller that we do not with to be contacted again, we will be removed from their database.
That is NOT the case as I have politely asked not to be contacted again on several occasions.
So far today, we have had three calls. This has been going on for around four months now and we simply don't bother to answer our own phone anymore and it has become distressing for my wife.
These have become intrusive nuisance calls and as such, we have reported the number and your company to Ofcom.
I hope you manage to keep your job in these difficult times, but if you are able, would you be kind enough to pass on to your employers that when we ask to be removed from your database, we really do mean it.
Thank you. - MickIt's perfectly possible to find out the name and home phone number of Homeserve's CEO. (I've just done it via a home pc).
I wonder how they would like it if everyone with a complaint 'cold called' their home number? I think that THEN something might be done about it.- Caller: Homeserve

- Demurph replies to AnonJust wanted to say that when you go on comparison sites such as confused.com or gocompare, when they ask for a phone number just put a fake one in. The only reason they want your phone number is so that the broker who has given you a quote can call you to persuade you to buy it. Sadly, this is all in the small print on the website, but who really takes the time to read that? They should make it clear. When you consider that you can get up to 50 quotes on one of these sites, that's 50 companies all wanting to sell things to you that you've given your number to. Some of these places are open til 9pm! I used to work for a home insurance broker and it gets quite annoying having people be so rude when really, they're the ones who has given the company their phone number. Never put your phone number anywhere unless you really have to.
- Demurph replies to Homeserve Employee| 2 repliesI'm with you there! People can be so rude. I used to work for a broker and you always used to get the "how did you get my number? I'm ex directory and what you are doing is against the data protection act blah blah blah..." when really, they've just been on to a comparison site and entered their real number! It's not against any laws of you actually give someone your number. I agree that yes, sometimes when people ask to be removed from the system and the aren't that is a pain, but there is just no need to be so rude. I bet if someone called them while they were working and started shouting and swearing down the phone, they'd be outraged, yet sales people have to deal with this on a daily basis. What's wrong with just hanging up?! Anyway rant over. Good luck for the future, Homeserve Employee!
- Rob replies to IainI've just called their normal complaints number and left a long pause before answering the: Hello; Hello? Hello? Who's calling? Then I said: "Not nice is it? Then went on a rant about constant phone calls whilst I'm trying to work. In the end the operator agreed to take my number of their list. Fingers crossed.
