Get call all times of day and night and just get beepinmg noise at other end of the phone. Has happened for over 8 months

01942 is a WIGAN number - hopefully that should help - also a beeping noise at the end of your line would suggest a fax is trying to come through - just put the phone down

01492 is north wales, around llandudno i think??

I get several calls from this number each week.  Very irritating and would like to find out who it is.

Get several calls a day from this. Similar to other calls, only ever get a beeping noise - not like a fax machine though. Anybody worked out who this is and how to stop it?

Tried to ring it back and I got a message saying that "this service is incompatable with your phone.

hopefully this will prevent these idiots from calling you! Also make sure you register for the Telephone Preference services, this will remove your details from the UK marketing databases.

It's a disgrace that when you call BT they make YOU deal with the call, surely the number should just be barred from accessing their network!

Same for me - about 4-5 calls per day on average, drives me bonkers. I called BT who were actually very apologetic. They proved to be quite helpful in providing some numbers (but, yes, *you* have to do the chasing):

Fax Preference Service: 0845 0700702 (register your number - similar to TPS)
Nuisance Bureau: 0800 411422 (use this to report specific numbers)
BT nuisance number dept: 0800 661441 (Option 3)

To change your phone number (last resort), from a BT line, call: 150 -> option 4 -> option 5 and have your account number ready. I'm almost at this stage...

Just as some feedback, I called the Nuisance Bureau above today and they inform they are aware of this happening from this particular number. It is as a result of a marketing business that sends out random fax messages. This can be as a result of your number once being listed as a fax number and having not being updated to be a land line. This was the case with me I believe.

The BT lady told me that she *cannot* disclose the details of the company (for fear of retribution I suppose) but what she suggests is that you register with FPS (see above) and she will also call the company that sends out these random fax messages and take your number of the list.

I *really* wish I could find out the name of this business, just so i could randomly beep down the phone at him/her at three in the morning. Grrrr.

calls from this number all times for last 3mths beping noise when answered not fax sort of beeping, cant clear line after for several mins. driving me nuts wakes kids at night etc we are with bt and ex direct also

Keep getting calls with just beeping noise. Call 1471 and get either "We do not have the callers number" or the number 01942 233 134 and then "This service is not compatible etc..." when I try to phone.

Very iratating as it only happens on our business' line and therefore cannot register with TPS.

So glad it's not just me getting these calls!! I'm getting them constantly- sometimes up to 7 times a day!! Just called the BT nuisance bureau as suggested above and lady was very helpful and friendly, and (surprise, surprise to anyone who's a BT customer) there was no waiting on hold. Call was answered immediately. She said give it 7-10 days to call again if i receive anymore calls! I'll keep posted!!

Had my first call from this number today and now I've read all these comments I'm not looking forward to the future ones I think I am likely to get.
It certainly beeps, but it's not a fax beep.
