Exactly same thing happened this morning to me.Except for the address, land line number and first name I have not given any other information. But the only difference is it was not from any of these above numbers but BLOCKED. Though I have a genuine visa valid till 2014 september because it was blocked I was panicking whether to believe this or not. Went to the cops, crime stoppers blah blahs but no use. UKBA contacts are grounding to zero as there is nobody to take the call to find out whether there is any serious issue with my visa.tried half a dozen of numbers.

    Hi,
    you can try this link.
    http://www.actionfraud.police.uk/report_fraud
i also got a call today itself from a guy called James Thomson. and i suppose the story is about 90% similar to what most people on this forum have faced.
However, I called up the action fraud guys from that link and I am told it is most definitely a scam. Hope this helps.

They had taken my below details from my wife. They claimed they are calling from UK border agency and a case is registered on my wife name due to incorrect entry date while entering U.K. Not sure what they will do with those details.
    Address
    D.O.B
    Email
    Phone
    first name
    last name

After taking all address details and move-in details from my wife. they called me and said me my details and claimed he is from UK border agency. But why did they ask me to pay the penalty through Western Union, Are they residing out of U.K? The number from which I received call is 02032394362. Is this outside U.K number of inside U.K? So the called person inside U.K and funds will be claimed outside U.K through Western Union?

They called me on 7th Sept and I reported them to the UKBA (the real UKBA). They made the mistake of calling me again today. The person at the other end will curse this day for calling me for sure :)
The moment he said he was from UKBA I bluntly asked him how much money do you want from me to stop my deportation? The line was immediately disconnected. lol

    Hi All,

I received similar call from 02070978953. They asked me to pay £550 as penalty. I was about to pay money as I was quite frightened at that time but by luck the shop they told me was not accepting Western Union hence they were guiding me another shop. Meanwhile I texted my fried to enquire about number and he messaged me that it is a fraud. Then I said to the guy that I am disconnecting the call and suddenly his tone changed and said are you a f***ing Indian.

But they have got my visa and passport detail. Can anybody tell the number whre to complaint so that my details can't be used in any illegal activities.

    Thanks
    Lavaneesh

Sadly, there is no chance of getting your money back. The people running this nasty scam are based overseas, which is why they as for vouchers.

Same thing happened to me today. no matter how many times I asked for a contact no. or confirmation via email, the guy didnt give me the details. first they said it was india high comission who has asked for the no. and then it changed to british high commission in india. When I tried to probe further the guy threatened me saying if I want to verify if it was genuine he can send deportation officers. he said ukba had sent me letters n today was the last day. on first instance fee was 60 pounds when i argued n said i want to speak to someone senior the price wne up to 260 pounds. I panicked even though I have a valid visa and confirmed the details he had and gave them my new address. i feel a bit stupid but my phone battery died and I didnt transfer money. the person insisted that he has to stay on the line untill I transfer the money. First I had to transfer through govt. post office and then it changed to western union.

The number came up as a private number. One guy was called Pete but had an Indian accent and the other one was called Mark ( I am sure he was a desi trying to talk in a scottish accent). they said they are based in 2 Marsham Road office in Victoria, London. This is UKBA headoffice address which you can easily find on the internet.

I called the ACtion Fraud line on 0300 123 2040 and the guy told me to email ukba on UKBApublicenquiries@ukba.gsi.gov.uk He said I shouldn't do anything unless the UKBA reply and confirm. Also I have lodged a complaint with metropolitan police.

I received a call from a BLOCKED number which was exactly like the calls mentioned here. The man said he was calling from UKBA and that my CISA number was invalid and I needed to get it ASAP from the British High Commission. His name was MARK ROBINSON and he was the one in charge of my case. After explaining everything, he passed on the phone to another lady who had a VERY INDIAN-PUT ON BRITISH accent (if you know what I mean) and she gave me details of all the money I need to pay which was 275 Pounds. The bifurcation was as follows:
    125 for penalty charges
100 for processing charges (this was refundable)
    50 for international postage
They asked me to go to the nearest Post Office and deposit this money and they would then put up a Solicitor to take care of my case. They did not let me hang up or contact anyone when I was on call. They said if the call is disconnected, the recording would go to the Deporting team and I would be deported out of UK. But when I disconnected the call, they did call back again and this time since I had googled about it, I told them I will take care of it. Their last statement was do Take care of it else the Deportation Team will be at your doors.
I called the Frauds And Complaints Team UKBA (you can get all details on their website) and reported this crime. She took notes of my complaint and was very helpful. She asked me however to give a call to Immigration Department in order to cross-check and I did that too. The lady there very politely mentioned that it is a scam and that once your file is done and complete and you have a valid visa, there is nothing more you need.
If it's Indians who are doing such a thing, its disgraceful at the least.
Spread the word, don't let hard-working innocent people to be robbed off their money.

Received call from person claiming to be James Thompson from UKBA based in London asking for CISA number. He had my name, DOB and permanent address on passport. He was most keen on knowing my landing card details. Luckily I found this site on googling about the call while talking to him and further questions from me made is very evident that this was a fraudulent call.
I also noticed that this thread is active from July, which means this particular scam is now active for several months; this is quite unacceptable. I will be reporting it to UKBA and the police. If you do get this call please alert UKBA to try and put to stop this fraudulent activity.
