- Potential fraud victim replies to Ash| 2 repliesHello All
I just now received a call from a person by the name of James Thomson claiming to be from UKBA and was asking to pay £520 stating that I don not have a CISA number.Heasked me to go the nearest post office and get a form or WEsternUNion Mney Transfer and that's when I realised that there is some problem.
They have my following personal details:
First Name
Last Name
Current address
Date of birth.
They did ask me to confirm my passport number and luckily i did not have the details with me.
I have reported this to Action Fraud and they said that they will forward these details to the police.
I am not sure if police will do anything with reference to this but just wanted everyone to be aware that UKBAhas confirmed that they will never give a call like this to the immigrants at the first place.
So this is a FRAUD!!! BEWARE
I haven't given my bank details to them however for my satisfaction, I have spoken to my bank and they have confirmed that till the time we have not given out our Bank Details, no one can transfer the money from our bank account.
So everyone please be safe. Donot give out any of your personal information. - sweety replies to SPhello... i got the same call today. i have one doubt as to how did they get our passport , phone number and address details and also i have given all my details. pls help
- shalini replies to SS| 1 replyguys i am an Indian girl ,,, it happened to me today and i lost 750 pound,,, i am very upset,,, i make a police complaint,,,
we should take an action against it,,,, guys they ask me to call tomorrow i wish i could teach them a lesson.. - SatyaHi,
I got a call from the Unknown Number and saying that I have missed the CISA number . to get the number he told me to make a payment for £352 through money transfer. He said they will refund the half of the amount once I payed the £352. He said UKBA will send the payment received mail I need to take printout ans need to go to nearest UKBA office to get refund back.
I prepared to pay the amount. When i called my husband and informed him about this call he checked with his collegues who are on same visa they said they didn't receive any call regarding this. I got a doubt and checked in google. I found this website. after reading all above statements i have come to conclusion that i got a fake call.
Please do not make such payments. - akI just received call on requesting my cisa number, scary part is that they had my personal details. I cross checked their question and them prove to me that if they are from ukba. The phone got cut off straight away... I ll be calling ukba to report this today....
- UKBA scam replies to Potential fraud victimHi,
I have also received a very similar call from a guy named Peter Owens calming to be from UKBA. I called UKBA to confirm this because he asked me to pay through western union money transfer which is very strange. They told me this is a SCAM so please be careful. - Mylius replies to shaliniInform your bank about this transaction, they might get a refund for you
- MyliusI am an international student from India. I got a call today from 2 guys and a lady pretending to be from UKBA and told me about my CISA no. expiry. I checked with my Univ about this and they adviced me that it was fraud and helped me report the matter to action fraud
- Abhishek SharmaI too got call from this number, they said that you need to get this CSIA number today and we have sent you letter one month back but you have responded and today is last day.
After this they said you need get this number either by some one of your relative or we could appoint a solicitor for you (by paying 458GBP). And when I said could you call me back then they said this call is conected to deportation team and if disconnected then will send massage to the team and will deport you.
So put them on hold and called UKBA Edinburgh and they said no, there is nothing like that requirement. - MelbourneI got a call from a lady who said she was calling from Australian High Commission,Canberra and said my CISA no. Is missing. She said she will send a person to my address next day with some refence no. and I need to pay $900 to him (half of the amount will be reimbursed later as per what she said). I found it strange...no government works like this! She also took my details(address, date of birth, etc) in the name of validation. She was so restless to know my passport no.I told her I can tell her if she calls me back after half an hour as it wasn't handy with me.I felt as if instead of verifying my details she was noting it down...another clue of a fraud call as they must have my passport no.!! That person didn't turn up next day....Today again I got a call from a person saying same things and he was surprised when i told him I already got a call reagrding same issue a month ago.He just kept on speaking and said today is the last day of money submission.I asked him thrice to send all the details on my mail ID and asked for a no. Where I can call back and inquire....he just made excuses.I'm sure they are fraud because:
1-The guy panicked and made excuses when I asked him to send the details on my e-mail ID, called from a private no. And didn't give me any no. to call back in case of any query.
2-He mentioned my permanent address correct but only I know that I have mentioned another address in my visa form.may be he got my previous address from facebook or so.
3-I immediately searched for CISA on search engine and got this link.- Caller: Australain high commission, canberra
- Nitin replies to ShanI got a call from MARK ROBINSON today, and again from a lady threatening deportation if I don't co-operate.
well i just asked them to f.o and send the team. can't find a valid ukba number to verify this. enquiries was not very helpful, but at least they did not know what CISA is. if anyone has the complaint number, please do let me know. - A C replies to ChanderHi
I received same call today claiming I am calling from UKBA agency. She verified my date of birth and current address at first. I genuinely thought she was from UKBA. She told me the same story she has sent two letters and no one responded. I was on the internet while I was talking to her and just googled as she mentioned CISA Number to me as was not aware. And saw its a fraud. I did not verify the details to her like passport and visa details its a big fraud they can use this as identity theft too or get credit.
I have reported the scam to UKBA I would recommend anyone who gets such kind of call to report as UKBA can take action and stop such people from using our information.
Do not give your date of birth, address or any personal details over the phone unless you verify or sure of it.
I hope this people are caught. - farooqsir.m hi sir mister abdul aziz abbasi date of birth 14.08.1969 b66 2nn birmingham.super toch company.this is a unllegal man.his not paper and he is a teralist man.please hurry up arest.home addres 25 linwood road b21 9jg .birmingham.he is morring 7.30 in offices is comed.

- jeetuI also got call from an private number claiming to be from UKBA asking me for CIAS no. they were forcing me to transfer amount of 500 pound on name of UKBA high Commission in New Delhi.. they told me if i don't then UKBA will deport me. they spoke with me for 1 hrs telling they cant cut the line as it recorded and need to transfer money now. i realized that this is defiantly a scam call so i disconnected the line.

- Manoj Singh| 1 replyI just got a call from a a number +501 by a lady claiming to be from UKBA.
She already knew the name and the phone number.
'For confirmation' she took all the details - DOB, address, date came in, etc.
Sounded like a genuine call - she said my CISA number is not been updated- Citizenship Immigration Services Alien number - which supposed should have been sent by the British High Commision in India. Govt. of india have sent a letter to UKBA stating my number have not been updated and today is the last day to do it: this is what she told me
She said by paying of £204 they can assign a solicitor to do this work on my behalf. I feel this is scam as none of my friends in UK did this kind of registration to get CISA number.
I feel I should now report this to UKBA, just posting here so others are aware.- Caller: UKBA
