I too received a fake call stating he was Alex Johnson from UKBA Customs Dept - my DOB on the landing card was wrong - they have sent notifications to my home address in India - nobody responded - so i have penalty and charges against me - in the Supreme Court of India - I can pay away all the charges over the phone and settle the case - they are recording this configuration - and will send the call record to British High Commission, New Delhi - I need to pay £202 immediately via Western Union or Post office - if i fail to pay they will deport me to India within 24hrs

They called me twice on the same - saying the same story

    Phone number was +2085440000

i got a withheld number from someone called David, who said he was from the mobile phone company.  He said they work along side O2 and when i said so has O2 gave you my details he said no he gets them from marketing Data !! em, if they work with O2 surely they dont need to get my details from a marketing company ! i asked for the company contact number and they gave me the 02088910237 number.  I think this is just a scam

    Hi Matt,
Some wise advice there, I completely agree with you- these people should be reported. I would like to add to this by saying that: Victims of bogus callers, REMEMBER TO KEEP THEIR NAME, PHONE NUMBER AND OFFICE BRANCH THAT THEY ARE CALLING FROM. Hopefully, this should be helpful in working out if they are legitimate or not, and perhaps even tracing the callers.

I think you're right, I'm sure O2  are a little bit more confidential, and this so called " marketing data" may actually be a team of scam artists. obviously this is just a possibility.

There was a telephone call from and so called UK Border Agency.

The caller telephone 02032872038, and two people involved are Glen Hodgez and Hazy Johnson.

On 21 April I received a call similar one saying that my ISID is not found in the file and therefore I either go to India or meet the British Embassy and get the number or pay GBP 325 as fine if I have continue here. He said in two hrs is the time given for making the payment as they have to close the file within 48 hrs in a post office, and there will be a guide to fill my forms. I got suspicious because the accent was not fully British and that on 21 April 2014 it was Easter Monday and all banks and POs and embassy offices are supposedly closed.

I called up my dad back in India. He quickly ascertained these are frauds and sent some links.

I received a call from this number, someone called Sam allegedly. He said that he was calling from Microsoft, stated that I have a computer, and that there may be a problem. I told him I have no computer, and said goodbye. I have had a call from him before. I was curious then about what he was up to, and played along for a bit. I agreed that I had a computer. He said there may be a security problem with my version of Windows, and that he would need to check. Basically he was lining me up to gain access to my computer. He asked me to do a number of things, change settings, allow a remote host to log on etc. I played along without changing anything on my computer. It go to the point where he was supposed to be able to access my computer, so I asked him how he knew I had a problem with my computer? What his name and contact details were - he wouldn't give the details. So I laughed and asked him what kind of mug he thought I was. I had him on the phone for a good 20 minutes at that point. 20 minutes that he wasn't scamming someone else. He was not a happy chappy. F'ed and jeffed until I hung up on him.

It would appear the number owner has changed and will do so each month!

Came up in my phone as a call from "Alexandria" (not a contact but the place) I have had loads of these with various numbers so decided to answer this one, and got a silent call. As with all the other numbers added to reject list.

After reading others comments I did a bit of digging if you care to read :)
I called the number back and got voicemail for a company called Verso Group. Here is what I gleaned and a bit of the conversation I had with them.

I called the company who confirmed that the number was theirs:
    http://www.versogroup.co.uk/
Number 01582 763 090 for reception, She was very polite and helpful, as was Dave who I was put through to.
    Company registered number: 07484788
    Companies house details: http://wck2.companieshouse.gov.uk//compdetails
I'd be interested to see complaint history against Verve media.

From reception I was put through to a nice (sales)man called Dave who when I asked if they run their numbers through telepreferencing he said yes, He said lots of words about memberships to X Y and Z I really wasn’t bothered, but assume this means that if legitimate and the words mean anything he might loose some licence to trade or some such if found guilty of not abiding by agreed practices.

I stated I have about 15 numbers on block from the service provider, so he said they only use 3. I commented that there must be another company using the same service provider so his 3 are probably in there to which he replied that they call out of 3 numbers (this is one) and that the numbers, ".. are required by compliance to change them every month."

I advised him to run his numbers through telepreferencing again as mine is in there. He advised helpfully that if I had taken part in a survey within the last 6 months then I would appear on their lists anyway, I equally helpfully shared the information that I hadn't taken part in any phone survey, unhelpfully he replied "oh".
He did offer to remove my number, I said I'd rather they ran the list against telepreferencing again and remove it that way, as I'd know that at least they had done so, else if I get more calls it would be proof that they don't telepreference check their numbers. That is where I ended the call.
