- Krutika replies to S| 2 replies+441614081201, extension number 0292, name said- James Thomson, got a call from this number and they told me pay them £ 513 through western union money transfer, i almost had a heart attack, then I read UK-CISA website information about this fraud and am waiting for their call or might go to police now, Please be alert, hopefully people wouldnt be fooled by this!!
- Pravin| 2 repliesHi, I have also got similar call but number was different. It was from 01614081201. In my surprise they have all my details available with them like passport number, my address, DOB, contact number, my work related details etc. I feel they have hacked some very secure database of Immigration or there may be some other agency. They also asked me to pay 375 Pounds to get CIS Alien Number from British High Commision India and pay this amount to name of Mukul Dubey through Western Union. I tried calling back on the same number and person had attended call with welcoming to UKBA home office and I thought its genuine call from UKBA and ended up paying them money as I landed very newly in UK and not aware of any such stuff. After that I search lot on google and found UKCISA site and found there that its fully telephone fraud but it was too late for me. Some group of people showing them as executive of UKBA and making people to afraid of telling that there is case open against you. After this insident happen, I report it to UKBA Home office through online form filling, reported to local police station and also action fraud.org.uk about this incident. I got reference numbers from all them and just waiting for furhter action update from them.
I hope you should not do any such mistake. I believe there is no any such process in place if you holding valid UK visa. - tested replies to Sharmai got same call
- kumar saurabh| 1 replygot same call from someone pretending to be from UKBA. i hung up the phone and called UKBA actual contact no to verify things. was told not to entertain such calls and it was total fraud. thereafter i reported this action to ukba crime prevention cell.
However 1 thing still cant figure out - how can any fraudster know that my application is lying at home office for visa extension. how unsafe is my privacy in this country. It scares me a lot as i had sent my application to them only few days back. Shame on UKBA that my personal info with them has leaked to some wrong people. They owe me as well as all other an explanation. however such a major issue would never be highlighted here in this country. Sure they will highlight the laurals that UKBA has suspended the license of London metropolitan univeristy and screwed the future of 2500 international students currently studying there.
disgusting is the only word that comes to my mind- Caller: UKBA
- Manjunath RaiturkerI received a suspicious call today from a lady named Cyndi Parker claiming to be from UKBA Manchester office (phone number - 01614081167). She said she is working on my file and if I do not provide CISA number (apparently a number on the landing card which I did not fill up on my last visit to India) within the next 24 hours, I will be deported along with my family. Moreover the British government will charge 2000 pounds per head from me towards deportation charges. She had all details of my passport and mailing address in the UK which is very scary.
The caller also said that the CISA number must be obtained from British high commission in New Delhi within the next 24 hours. She then asked me if I have any family members in India who can obtain this number from British High Commission in New Delhi to which I said no. Then she started convincing me to walk with the phone to the nearest money transfer office and pay 512 pounds. I asked her for the account number to which she wants me to transfer the money to and she would not reveal the number.
Guys this is a big time scam. Please do not fall pray to this. If you receive such a call, cut it off and report it to UKBA which is what I did.
When I called the number back someone answered the phone saying it was UKBA Manchester. These scoundrels are apparently running a parallel UKBA office and that number is traceable. UKBA should take strict action against this as such calls are very distressing especially when you are engrossed with your work.- Caller: UKBA
- Manjunath RaiturkerBelow is the email I have sent to UKBA.
Dear Sir/Mam,
I am writing to you to make you aware of a large scale money laundering being conducted by some unscrupulous people posing as staff of UKBA and thereby bringing the name of your esteemed organisation to serious disrepute. This is happening at the moment and many people are getting affected by this scam. Please check this link to gauge the scale of this scam - https://whocallsme.com/Phone-Number.aspx/02032398294/3#p445550825088464990
