- Babs| 2 repliesI would like to know how they got my number considering I am supposed to be on the preferential calls list!
- Shell replies to nobbyThey just called me and after making a mess up of saying my name said i was entitled to PPI back i said no i wasnt and he was positive i was. He then told me my post code which was 6 years out of date and then the matching address which was again invalid.
He then asked if i had outstanding cards or loans and i said no.
Flipping idiots, now have the number stored on my phone as do not answer. - PrunellaThis number belongs to a company called First Call.
Two days ago a phone call woke me and, before I could answer the phone, the answer machine took it, at which point the caller rang off. I dialled 1471 and noted the number. Today the company called again and the caller introduced himself by name and gave the company name as First Call.
I told him that he was breaking the law by calling me, at which he protested that he was not. I repeated that he was breaking the law and that I am registered with the Telephone Preference Service. I requested that he remove my name from his list and then I put the phone down. I dialled 1471 and confirmed it was the same number as the call two days ago.
I am making an official complaint to the Telephone preference service about the activies of First Call.- Caller: First Call
- Prunella replies to BabsCompanies like this get your number from all sorts of lists sold to them by other companies with which you have done legitimate business.
It is a legal requirement that the company should check with the Telephone Preference Service to make sure that your number is not registered with the TPS before they call you. Evidently this company is not doing so.
I urge anybody who is registered with the TPS and who has been called by this company to make a complaint to the TPS about the company. There is a very simple complaint form to fill in on the TPS website. - grrYet another company claiming to help recover mis-sold protection insurance premiums. Avoid like the plague.
- DaveReceived call a few mins ago from this number, picked up but person on other side immediately hung up.

- DonReceived a call today - Indian gentleman with very badly spoken English. Eventually understood him to be from First Call who went on to explain that it had come to his attention that I had been overcharged for PPI on my Bank Loan. I told him I dont have a Bank Loan, so he said it was my Mortgage - i told him I dont have a Mortgage either so it then shifted to my Credit Cards. I explained that I dont have any Credit Cards either so he apologised and hung up.
I called the number back and simpy got recorded music.- Call type: Telemarketer
- AmusedofTW| 2 replies"Hello this is [unintelligible]. Am I speaking to Mr AmusedofTW?"
Yes. Is this a sales call?
"Mr AmusedofTW, This is not a sales call this is a confirmation call"
Oh ok, confirmation of what?
"Basically you watch the telly, yeah? Well, 90% of banks have mis-sold PPI to their finance customers, ok and we have received data that your bank or lender has mis-sold PPI to you and you are entitled to a refund."
Which one, my bank or my lender?
"Uh... Mr AmusedofTW, so basically, either. Your bank or your lender. If I can just explain that 90%..."
I understand that bit, but what does your data say happened in my case? Who mis-sold me PPI?
"Basically, Mr AmusedofTW, 90% of UK banks, like Barclays, NatWest, uh ..."
So which one of those mis-sold me PPI?
"Ok, Mr AmusedofTW, I'm sorry but this call is taking too long ... "

- Liz BiliasThe telephone number 0207 060 3887 appeared on my mobile whilst at work this morning @ 09.46am.
They are a PPI related company called First Call.
The guy started the call with; 'Is that Mr Elizabeth Bilias?' then I corrected him - it's Miss Elizabeth Bilias! Then he repeated what he said 'Mr ......' then I corrected him again and he said 'this is not a sales call - I am calling from a company called First Call.' so i interupted him and said 'and it's PPI related isn't it. Can you remove my details please please remove my details!' during which he hung up!
This is unbelievable - I am sick of these calls, they are a nuisance!! Why do they pass on your mobile to everyone!! Arrrrggghhh!!! Please stop them!
And in the end they are after your money - so it is a transaction - therefore a sale - why do they say it's not a sales call!! Clearly they are told to lie!- Caller: First Call
