PPI refund scumbags, these people are only just second from bottom of the list of low life scum out there, in bottom place it is Debt Collectors.

DO NOT use anyone to help get PPI refunds use the template letters on the Consumer Action Group website and keep all the refund money for yourself not give it to these low life thieves.

I got a lot of money back from RBS and Lombard by doing it myself and it cost me one stamp each.

    Have a nice day.

Had few calls from these people in last couple of days.  Just tried to access their website (www.1stcallclaims.com) and surprisingly enough you can't get on the site.  Tried calling (withholding my number) and line was silent.

The caller said he was calling from a compasny called First Call.
When I said he should not be cold calling me because I was registered with Telephone Preference Service and that I would report the call to the TPS. He then said he was calling to arrange a refund, and because of my attitude he would not now arrange the refund.
Needless to say I have never had any dealings with First Call

Just finished posting a message after a call from "016306941356   24/7 PC care", Scam for un-necessary PC maint. when 02070603887 calls, Wishing to inform me that I could have been mis-sold PPI over the last 10 years via my mortgage, loans, credit cards etc. Then wanted 60 sec of my time. No doubt to gather more personal info. about me. Played along for a bit then told him it was a scam and was not interested. - Hung up.

They wanted to confirm my address - They had the correct details.
Home owner status - Failed to reply truthfully.
Which Bank I used - Gave wrong info. (no request for account number yet)
What credit cards I had. - Gave wrong info. (no request for account number yet)
If I was in arrears with any payments on loans , mortgages etc - Lied said yes.
Tried to get details of who - Said I would have to look it up, could not remember details exact amounts etc. Wanted me to look it up. Said no.

Called identified himself as from "First Call" which could be true, as could be gathering info. on their behalf or it could have been a general "hunt for personal info." scam to be used by others.

NEVER give them any correct Personal info. without calling them back after checking the number they provide belongs to the company they say they represent.
They all seem to already have your Name, Address and Telephone number. They just other bits of info. like your  Date of Birth and then various scams are possible. i.e. Identity Theft, Fraudulent Loans in your name.

Call to my mobile just now from "First Call" very hard to hear but felt the need to spell it out as if I didn't know how to spell the word "First". Said I was entitled to money from PPI. I stopped him, asked where he got my mobile number from and refused to say where exactly, just said "various market place websites" I told him to delete my number off his system to which he put up a bit of an argument that I was entitled to money (which I know I'm not as we have no loans or credit cards), when I told him again I'm sorry but this call isn't going to go anywhere he then said I was "being a bit of a dick madam" and hung up.

Just adding to this list of people called by this number. The more we report or log it somewhere, it hopefully will be seen as a problem and something gets done by someone. Well, one can hope anyway!

A nice sounding person told me I was in line for a refund from being incorrectly sold a PPI. I managed to keep them on the phone for sometime by asking for explainations of every thing they said and to repeat things because "I didn't hear it properly" but not giving back any info from me. She finally got around to asking me what insurance I had taken out, when I told her that I didn't give out financial  info on the phone, particularly to someone I had no knowledge of.

Anyway, they waste our time and I try and reciprocate! Gives me a mission in life! Don't lose your rag. Waste their time (which is their money)

A note to the genuine companies who wish to use phone / e-mail etc. to conduct their work. You will have to get rid of these con merchants before you can hope to use the internet to everybodies advantage. A wonderful resource for business and a happier life being ruined.

    Rock on All!

Just received a call from this number, lady knew my name and said the call shouldn't take any longer than 5 minutes... I said 5 minutes?? what's it regarding? (that's a long time to talk to someone if you don't know them).... she said " I said no longer than 5 minutes" in an abrupt voice.

She said she was calling from First Call and wanted to help me recover my costs on a PPI insurance I bought... (for your info I am actually a Financial Adviser, so I know what I am talking about - but acted a bit naive). I told her I haven't bought any PPI, she said, "that's what you think, you have been missold and have been paying for years".... Can't believe the cheek of her, if I was vulnurable now, I would have listened further.

I told her she was lying and how dare she try to coerce me to believe her. When I said I was a Financial Adviser and actually know more about PPI and refunds than she would, she panicked and hung up.

My main concern about this call, was not that she was trying to make me believe she could help recover costs, it was the way she tried to make me believe I have definietly been paying for something I didn't know I had, like I was stupid enough to be conned by someone in the first place.

There maybe some very vulnurable people out there, the elderly for example who would believe that rubbish and get sucked in..... I have found a petition online we can all sign to get this number blocked from UK networks...... it's worth signing it to see if it works.

    Thanks for listening!!!

Said he was from First Call and "don't worry, this is not a sales call just validating details" or something like that. I hung up on him as any caller who begin with "this is not a sales call" is making a sales call.

This is not the first time they've phoned presenting that number but I didn't have my crib sheet of known bad phone numbers to hand which is why I'd answered. A minute later we got another call without CLI so I let it go to the answering machine but they hung up as soon as they heard it kick in ;-)

Here's a list of warnings put out by Staffordshire County Council:

    http://www.staffordshire.gov.uk/community/con ... hdogAlerts.aspx

Scroll down the list to 'Bogus PPI Refunds'  (there is another scam listed as 'Bogus PPI refunds UKASH' which is different).  According to this, the scam  is aimed at getting your bank or credit card details (so the 'refund' can be paid directly into your account, allegedly) after which "most victims have gone on to discover that £59.99 has been debited from their account".

My wife was called from this number today, and she got suspicious.

They claim they are a south African based company called FirstCall,
trying to find people who have been mis-sold PPI payment protection insurance,
they claim to represent a UK company(s), but when asked who the number belongs to
they just put me on hold!

I will be reporting them to the telephone preference agency as they call me several times
a day and my number is registered with the TPA already.

Had a call from this number just now. Silence for 20 seconds and then an automated 'Goodbye'. I had a call from another PPI company today even though I have no credit cards or have ever had a personal loan!!
