got call from them today asking about credit card payments and that i maybe entitled to refund

Just read through some of your messages. I suspect some numbers are randomly dialled, although the Indian/Chinese lady who said she was calling from First Call asked for me by name. This indicates that they have bought databases. They're probably trying every trick in the book.

When they say that they are doing an "echo test," that sounds to me like a bunch of garbage. I think what they are trying to do is establish if anyone will answer the phone.

This is similar to what sonar systems on submarines do. They send out a signal and "ping" to see what comes back.

These people ought to be stopped, as what they are doing is illegal.

I called the number and a man answered saying he was from a Company called "First Call", so I put the phone down.

I just got a call from this company and got the whole PPI refund spiel. I asked what was First Call's interest in a claim I was well aware I could make privately if I was eligible and she didn't answer, just pressed on to try and ask 'qualification questions' at which point I ended the call.

The call really confused me as I was waiting for a call back about a genuine refund claim I have with a shop at the moment! Hoorah for 'who calls me' ;)

People are stupid, if use dont like your number called then dont give your number out willy nilly over the internet and others sources your not quite sure about, ive had this number call me several times lucky enough I could download mr number of android which blocks numbers you dnt want to call you,

I had a call from this number today and asked for me by name. Usually I don't answer calls from unknown or dodgy looking numbers. But this one came in with a proper London number. Anyway she claimed she could help me recover some lost money. I replied saying I have not lost any money and asked her for her details, company name etc. She said "If you haven't lost any money why do you need our details ?" And hung up with a bang

Got a call from this number this morning.  My young son answered. they asked for me by name and then hung up on him.  I called back and they refused to let me know who they were, they just hung up.

I got a call from a woman with a possibly South African accent.  I refused to confirm my name.  When questioned she said she represented First Call and that they specialize in claims for payment protection insurance.  Since I have never had any, I told her so and that she must be operating a scam.  I'd like to know how she knew my name/number, as we are ex-directory.

I missed this call (couldn't reach the phone in time before it stopped rinnging) so returned the call. An English accented man replied saying, "Must have been a mistake - sorry."

First call said I didn't want to speak to them.  They rang straight back and started threatening that the phione would be cut off.  When asked who they were & where they were phoning from said that they would cut the phone of and that it had now been done.  Called 1471 fro the number & went straight back to them & they said they'd tild me the phone wouldn't work.  Asked again for the name & told it was MICHAEL JACKSON!!!!!  Asked to speak to the ManaGER WHO CAME ON IN AN AGGRESSIVE WAY!  He said we would be arrested by the police  - INSPECTOR MICHAEL JACKSON!
Said we were taping the call & they put the phone down.
Reported to ther police!

Just been called three times by this weird squeaky woman, maybe Chinese but I could barely tell. She asked for me by my surname, at which I asked her who she was and she said First Call Solutions or something. I asked her what she wanted, and she asked me to confirm who I was. I hung up.

She rang back a minute later, and asked me the same question. I said WHO ARE YOU to her. She didn't respond, so I hung up again.

She then rang back again, told me I was very rude, and then hung up on me. Weird woman.

Suggest anyone receiving calls has some fun with this. Tell her you're Superman, or King of the Sheep People or something. I hope she calls me back, I have plans.

I was at my mother's house an hour ago. She is 90, has dementia, is ex directory and in TPS. I answered for her, was given the PPI protection spiel by a young foreign sounding man, said (politely) that it was irrelevant as my mum has never bought PPI. He said 'you are a rude and stupid old man' and put the phone down. I hpope they dont ring my mum when she is on her own as it will be very upsetting for her.

I've had eight calls so far today from this number. None of these have had anyone speaking at the other end. I've now logged this as a complaint with OfCom. I'd suggest that everyone does this - the more complaints that OfCom get, the more likely they are to contact the authorities in South Africa or wherever the calls are coming from.

It appears to be some sort of scam as they hang up and its some weird foreign voice in a call centre (from the background noise) They hung up on me when I returned their first call. I thought it was a london number but it was not english they spoke. Hung up after a few seconds so hopefully there will not be a charge. If there is, I will get it back from the phone provider in UK via OFCOM

Had a missed call from this number today whilst I was at work... looking at the previous comments I'm glad I did miss it.

I have had lots of calls from this number at all hours of the day & evening and when I have answered them, each time first there is a silence, then a lot of background noise, then someone who gives a name and says they are from First Call but as soon as I say that we do not accept marketing calls and ask them what they are selling, they hang up.  Wish I knew why they then try again and again and again and again........................................... !! I have been a bit concerned what these calls might be about but now I have read all the posts already on this site, I am reassured that they are just a rubbish company and nothing I need to know about, so I will just not answer their number again.  Thanks everyone for posting your info on this site and "respect" to those of you who have come up with inventive ways to answer their calls.
