I was called by this lady saying me and a friend had won a £250 photo shoot. I asked her to let me look at the website - although she talked me through it I couldn't find the site only a FB page.
She then asked for a deposit which I would get back when I went for the shoot. I said no thanks and hung up.

***PLEASE READ THIS IF YOU'VE HAD A CALL FROM THIS NUMBER***

    Hi everyone

If you've had a call from this number, you were called by the Bookings Promotions number of Paparazzi Studios Ltd.  Some of the information given above isn't completely accurate, so we just wanted to confirm who Paparazzi are and what we actually do.

We're a makeover and photography company, based in Great Portland Street in London's West End.  If you've been called by us, it's probably because you've been referred to us by a friend or family member who attended a session with us, was satisfied with our services and thought you might be interested in having a makeover and photoshoot of your own.

We do require a booking deposit to ensure that everyone we book for a session actually turns up, but this is fully refundable once the session's been completed.

We don't offer free prints to all of our clients and we do make people aware that they will have the opportunity to purchase their pictures at the end of our session.  We are currently looking to get a price list on our new website, once this is up and running, but in the meantime we're quite happy to advise clients of our prices in advance of a session.

If you have been receiving calls from us and would like to know more about the services we offer, our website address is www.ilovepaparazzi.com - there are examples of our work on the website and an FAQ section.

If you would like us to stop calling you, please contact us on 020 7323 5888, option 1 or send an e-mail to mail@ilovepaparazzi.com and we'll remove you from our system; this is never a problem and you will not be called again.

Paparazzi Studios Ltd is a completely separate company from The London Portrait Company and Studio London Ltd.  We have no links or association with any other makeover and photography studios or agencies, and we're not going into administration!

I hope this helps clear up any confusion or uncertainty about who we are or why we're calling you!

    Many thanks,
    Paparazzi

Craig, pull the other one mate, it's got corks on it.

You're the director of a set of kangaroo companies as can be verified from the data below, sport:

Given your track record, Paparazzi Studios Ltd is more likely to go down and under sooner than not.

Barge poles out and avoid like the plague would be better advice.

And they're getting smarter people!!! I just received a call from them and I asked how do I know it's not a scam? They gave me company's registration number which is 7348522 and asked me to check it on www.companyshouse.gov.uk website, this looks really convincing, but in fact, I could call anyone and tell all those details myself, I could say that I am from paparazzi and take your money if you see what I want to say :) I could even make a website myself easily, so fact that they have a website is not a proof! Don't get fooled! Otherwise you will end up somewhere in london looking for your free pampering session which which does not exist!!!

I was there last year with a friend, one of the girls i know went there for a photoshoot and put me down for it. After looking at the pictures we decided to go there so when they called we approved to go. But had to pay a deposit of £90 to secure a place for both of us, this was returnable within 7 days. One we got there it was quite busy and waited our turn ta have makeup and hair done.

We had to rush for the photoshooting because they said they were busy and the photographer didnt really care just felt like he wanted to do things quickly. Anyway once shooting was over had to wait for two hours and in the meantime were given questionnaire to fill and had to give 40 phone numbers to win a competions.

After that we went back where we were given champagne and waited until to review the pictures. The woman who dealt with us showed us the pictures on screen each and went through each of them that we liked and showed us other photo packages. We didnt have much pictures taken since they were in a hurry but most of them were edited twice altogetehr i had less than 50 pictures.

Her first price was £3000 which we thought was ridiculous since we didnt know how much their price list start. we felt like she was just making up the price as went along so she reduced it down up to £1600 and wouldnt go any further. We deciced taht it was a rip off and didnt agree to pay this now and my firnd who went there she paied half the price we were charged. We decided not to continue paying for this and since then they kept harrasing us with calls, unknown calls and messages threatning us that they will take us to court..
But as consumers we have rights and believed they abused us and are using evryone who goes there by taking people's numbers and ripping them off by going there. First of all they didnt have a start price or anything that woman just made the price up and now i have found this site i now know for sure that they are a scam.

Just got a call from them too, number 02075801023. Actually, I got a missed call and when I rang back to see who it was, the guy told me he could ring me back so that I didn't have to waste any free minutes nor money. Very clever.

He told me I entered a competition a while ago and that I had won a free pampering session for me and a friend, it was all very convincing. The guy was called Joe Hazell who gave me his email address and two phone numbers in case I needed to contact someone. I let him go through the whole story - he told me about how the day would have gone, told me I could bring a friend, that I'd have had hair, make-up done etc...- hilarious. I made him waste some serious scamming time.

Then...he told me there was actually a deposit of £30 that I should have paid just in case I don't turn up. Errrm, what? But I made him talk and pretended I was interested - they had my e-mail already anyway so they sent some information and then, the question "so what's your card number?". Excuse me??? I told him I wasn't going to give ANYONE my account details because I had no idea what it was all about.

Must admit though, he was quite polite about it (although some people here mentioned they were quite rude) and told me to think about it, call the next day and then said bye. Thank God I found this forum, thanks guys.

if you do not buy any photos does that mean you get your money back ?? i have been called by this number from a competiton win, ( which i did enter) but they asked for a £39 refundable deposit per person and for certain bank details-apparently nothing sensitive. but im not sure whether the deposit is refundable, or even if its a scam.

I disagree with the anonmymous quote dated 23 May 2011 above stating "The fact is every company has a selling point studio london/paparazzi clearly have one thats working for them so listen to the terms and conditions carefully and ask more questions or dont go through with it. People are soo easily ready to pass the blame after they give the deposit FACT no one forces you to give the deposit".

Anybody using pressure and hard sell techniques is a CON no matter what this anonymous writer thinks. Such techniques were being used by banks to sell Payment Protection Insurance (PPI) to people. Luckily, the Courts have ruled this was illegal and banks are now having to pay millions of pounds back to people if you can prove that you were pressured into buying. They should be reported to the Office of Fair Trading.

In my experience, Paparazzi Studios called my teenage daughter one morning and told her she had been recommended to them by one of her friends for a free photoshoot and make up session for herself and a parent/friend. She is aspiring to be a model but I can't afford to pay for sign up fees and photoshoots hence she was was jumping up and down with excitement when speaking to the Paparazzi caller. When they told her she had to pay £30 deposit on phone to ensure she attends, she passed the phone to me as the parent. I spoke to the man and said I don't even know who they are and which friend had introduced my daughter to them.
They gave me two names of her friends who had attended the same free offer. I told him I wanted to speak to the friend first then call them later as I didn't want to give my card details to a stranger on phone.

They refused and said this is a promotional offer and if they hang up they can't call her again and they will be calling the next customer in the list so I needed to make the decision there and then. I MEAN WHY SHOULD THEY EXPECT YOU TO GIVE YOUR CARD DETAILS TO STRANGERS WITHOUT GIVING YOU TIME TO THINK UNLESS THEY ARE A SCAM?
At that point I had not even talked to the man about the offer and what the offer entailed and what they would do with the pictures. I thought they were offering her a free photoshoot and to sign up with them to be marketed by them as a model! The man should have explained more to me about the offer - being the parent, as he knew he was talking to a child under 16 but all he wanted was for me to make the booking and pay the deposit there and then without even thinking about it.
I felt pressured as I didn't want to lose such a seemingly attractive offer and I didn't want to let my daughter down. However, I refused to do the booking at that point and told them I would call them in 15 minutes after speaking to my daughter's friend which the man agreed and gave me his name and the company's number but as soon as he hang up he called my daughter before 5 minutes had elapsed and he didn't wait for me to call them back. WHY WERE THEY SO INTERESTED IN GIVING ME A FREE OFFER AND SPENDING TIME/MONEY TO RING ME BACK UNLESS THERE IS A DARK SIDE TO THEIR STORY?
When I was still on phone with them, my daughter had called her friend who confirmed she had given them her name/telephone number but I did not get time to talk to the friend about their experience with Paparazzi studio nor to research the company in the internet.
So when the man called the second time, I felt pressured and agreed to make the booking and gave him my card details as I didn't want to let my daughter down.
He gave me the booking reference number but I wanted to know if the company was authentic so I later called them through the number he had given and asked for the payment receipt number which he had not given me on phone. I spoke to someone else who said they would email me or write a letter to me which they did SO IT ALL SEEMED AUTHENTIC.
I live 4 hours from London and my daughter, her sister and her dad have already travelled to London 3 days ago to attend the session today 20/8/11 but luckily after reading the above comments and other worse comments elsewhere in the internet I HAVE DECIDED TO CUT ON MY LOSSES AND TO STAY AWAY FROM PAPARAZZI STUDIOS AND NOT TO ACCEPT ANY SUCH OFFERS IN FUTURE NO MATTER WHAT PRESSURE THEY APPLY. IF ANYBODY IS OFFERING YOU FREE OFFERS, THINK TWICE THERE IS ALWAYS A DARK SIDE TO THE OFFER AND NOBODY GIVES THEIR TIME/MONEY FOR NOTHING. I agree with the former Paparazzi studio employee who commented above that they rely on people not turning up as they will make their money by keeping the deposit. I was still wondering from inside on why I needed to pay a refundable £30 deposit when all I needed to do was just to attend. But that's the catch, they pressure you into paying the refundable deposit on phone without giving you time to think, then you research them on the internet and find out they are SCAM ARTISTS, then you decide not to attend the session and lose the deposit - no losses to them.
Unless you live in Oxford Circus and have the whole day to waste, hang up the phone as soon as they call you!
And if you decide to go, don't give them any names/numbers of your friends unless if you have discussed with your friends first.
If you want any professional photoshoots, there must be many studios or modelling agencies out there who don't need to use dubious means to make money.
I am still worried about my debit card details which I gave them. I haven't rang them to cancel the appointment or to tell them I am not bothered. Any advise?

In the phone call they have been known to refuse to confirm who they are ("you will find out all in good time")

I wish I had not given names of people I know. they are now being harrassed by this evil company.

I have tried to call them numerous times but no one is ever is the 'customer care' department.
I went to their offices personally and wrote numous emails. They replied that they are 'gratefull for the feedback" - HELLO!!! it is a complaint not feedback on how they can further train their staff to con people.

Have you found yourself handing over payment knowing that you could not afford it or did not want to purchase any of the pictures?

The company are using NLP and covert hypnosis sales techniques to persuade people to hand over money.

THIS IS SERIOUS AND THEY ARE GETTING AWAY WITH IT WHEN PEOPLE ARE TOO SCARED OF THREATS TO BE TAKEN TO COURT BY THEM.

Post here your full details of what happended to you - did you pay knowing what you were doing?

Post here and tell everyone you know to avoid this company and the people who work there.
