0208

Just had this 0208 number call me 10 minutes ago never heard of an 0208 number in my life nor is my number old it was a brand new line in September, never had this before so Why now?

continually getting calls from 0208????? no one speaks and you cannot ring it back, antone got any ideas what it is??????

had 10 of these this morning   1471 only gives 0208
really really fed up now.   don't have caller display and don't like to not answer as i'm expecting an urgent call today.  
we seem to be inundated with these type of calls again.  telephone preference doesn't help as they claim its a survey not selling and telephone preference only covers sales calls
i'm going to try the wistle next time.

I just had this number call my house...after looking on here I decided I'm probably better off ignoring it - I have caller ID so that's easily done. :)

Just had a call from them, soon as i answered, it clicked and hung up. Deff a system where it auto dails, and if there arent any operators ready or free it will just hang up on you.

Also for those saying that there number was new, its probably a refurbished number thats been hibernating for 6 months. Companies hibernate numbers for 6 months before dishing them out again, and this is why it happens. Happened to me with my number, after 10 months still getting calls for Mr Jones....

I just received this phone 0208 call, and I'd just realised few weeks ago I registered with one of the appliance insurance online, before I registered, I hardly received this call. Today I received a phone called looking for Mr. Kennedy, and yesterday looking for Mr Sawyer. Don't know them.. maybe next time I will say Abrakedabra..wkwkwk.. I really get annoyed.. with this phone

Have been called three times today by 0208. No one speaks, the line just goes dead

BT don't stop these calls because it is all part of their money grabbing system. If you want to create a list of calls to automatically block or allow, including International and number withheld, get yourself a Truecall box. Mine stopped this number getting through. I got an answer phone message from this number, just a man saying "hello" I won't be answering if they call back....

i got a call from 0208 number then discovered all that was previously written here, i contacted virgin and there is no law yet governing international calls coming from outside of and into the U.K., but the government are aware of the problem, and are working on a solution, how long that will take is anyones guess but the only option i was given was to change my number to stop these calls at this time, or get a law made to stop these harassing calls from outside the country.....

ive had two of these phone calls now, first one answered and said they were the tumour survey centre
they asian and kept asking for the previous tenant and then his family

second call just no one at the other end

i hope i dont get charged for answering

Have had several calls from this 0208 ??? number over the last few months, always asking for me by name. The caller is usually female, speaking with an American or perhaps American/Asian accent. The stayed reason for the call is always 'carrying out a survey'. When I ask them who they are, or what their full telephone number is, they hang up on me abruptly. Rude! Dialling 1471 comes up with this partial (useless) 0208 number and I am dying to find out who they are.

Received a call today from this number. Asked for me by name which is interesting as I'm ex directory!

Glad I found this site though, at least I'm not alone. Going off tomorrow to buy a whistle.

This number came up on my caller ID so I ignored it as I do with all unknown numbers. My thought is that if it's important and the do actually know me/need to speak to me - they'll leave a message.

I was just puzzled with it coming up as just 0208 on the caller ID and wondered if there was a problem with it so dialled 1471 and got the same number. Googled it and got little info other than it's a London area code so checked here and found others have had it.

Very weird and the first time I've seen anything like it!

I received a call from an Indian sounding gentleman saying he was conducting a survey and that he was not selling anything, he just wanted to know if he was speaking to the home owner.

I am ex directory so how would he get my number unless a company I deal with sold it to him?

When I checked 1471 the last number who called me was 0208

we have recently bin having random calls from a number which when we dial 1471 the number is 0208.
which is well strange as i neva knew ya could get a four digit number but the problem is they started calling at like 9pm at night but dont say anything and jus hang up. very confused!!

Had a call from this number today. Never seen such a short number on my caller display so I ignored it. Googled the number and found this board. I have a call blocker so will be entering this into my device so I never get disturbed again.
I used to get a lot of calls from sales and marketing people, even at stupid hours of the night, so I got a call blocker and have had peace since. I would suggest you get one if you get lots of calls. There are a few on the market - true call, call blocker, etc.
