So Chewin's dodgy www.pensionbackedloansuk.com site was the introducer - what was the name of the company that provided your loan called ?

Can't ask Chewins because he only speaks through psuedonyms like Finally and Lifesaver who never name companies.

It's not your own money. It's eqivilent funds from an opposite scheme. Therefore, you have not liberated/exploited your own pension fund.'

You really don't get it do you... if the government pulls the plug on these pension loans, (which everyday is looking more and more likely.) then the firm who gave you the money from the 'opposite scheme' could come back to you requesting the money. What happens if you don't pay them back? DEBT COLLECTORS! And then bye bye credit rating and peace of mind.

I would steer clear. Not FSA authorized. Always use an established firm on the FSA register.

City watchdog the Financial Services Authority to warn over pension loans

The City watchdog is to issue a warning about firms that encourage those with poor credit records to borrow money against their pensions.

The firms entice borrowers to borrow up to half the current value of their pension and repay only the interest.

One firm called Pension Backed Loans UK charges 5.5 percentage points above the Bank of England base rate, currently 6 pc.

This increases if repayments are missed.

The firms may take control of the pension, switching money into a Self- Invested Personal Pension.
The idea is the loan will be repaid from the 25 pc tax-free pension lump sum taken when the person retires.

If your tax-free lump sum has not grown enough to pay back the capital, then the lender says the rest of the debt is written off. The pension must be worth at least £15,000.

Other firms offer variations on this scheme.

The Financial Services Authority plans to look more closely at these companies.

Justin Modray, of financial advice website Candidmoney, says: ‘Avoid these schemes like the plague. These firms are not authorised or regulated by the Financial Services Authority.’  

Pension Backed Loans UK stresses on its website that it does not provide financial advice. It failed to respond to Money Mail’s inquiries.

Sorry I havent been around - been working and life stuff - urgh!

Yes I am fairly worried about it - but I cant cry over spilt milk now can I?  Its also my mistake so I need to sort it nobody else - I am trying to impart information to others to both stop them making the same mistake and also if anyone is searching Google they will stumble across this site .... if I can help one person - excellent.

The company that did the deed is called Ark Business Consulting LLP - and the new trustees are Dalriada - who I have spoken to - and they seem to want to help set everything straight.

I definitely dont think its limited to one company, theres a multitude of the damn things out there - but the government is doing nothing to legislate against it - I am lucky - I am 39 and have another pension pot I can fall back on - I dont think everyone would be in the same boat.

I havent heard from Dalriada Trustees for a few days - but theres always next week.

Short version: Pension Backed Loans is product name of the Spanish property developers offering this, and they have a large number of websites promoting it passing on leads to them, all of them originating in the Bournemouth area, and the same people behind it previously found by the Office of Fair trading to have been running IVA scams had their licenses revoked. Indeed pensions2cash is also a website part of this Bournemouth network, and is mentioned in the blog.
