I had a call from that number asking re my health, I asked if he was trying to sell me anything he said no and after furthed dicussion re arthritus/Rpsehip then Gopo, then started trying to recommend Gopo at discounted price of £14.95 for 30 Tablets.

I said I would investigate and if wished to call back in a weeks time, we could talk further.

After seeing this website this is obviously some sort of marketing.

I received a phone call from 02086190746.  The lady asked me a few questions.  I said that I didn't answer personal questions over the phone, and hung up on her.  She called back to complain that I'd put the phone down on her.  I asked her how she had got my number as I was with the Telephone Preference Service.  She said that I was NOT with the telephone preference service, so I put the phone down on her again.  She called back a THIRD time - so I got my son to answer.  She still insisted that I was not with the telephone preference service, so my son asked her for her name.  She said it was Catline Smith.  He asked to speak to her supervisor.  She said she was the supervisor, so he asked to speak to the manager - she put the phone down on him!!!  No more calls, but out of interest, I googled the number and came up with page after page of complaints about this company.  I have also checked with the TPS and I AM registered with them, so surely they have broken some law by calling me?

Cold call  received from 0208619074 at 17:55 this evening-caller said he was from the Wellness Centre in Berkshire. An obvious scam-nobody should provide this company with any personal information under any circumtances.
I kept the caller talking for a while without answering any of his questions. I asked for the company's website, which he told me was www.wellnesscentre.com. I checked this and told him this relates to an organisation in Canada. At this point he told me to stop wasting HIS time and hung up!
I imeadiately called him back and quoted some of the information relating to the company he was calling on behalf of mentioned on this site. I told him if I hear from him again I will call the police.

Thanks to the paper coming through my door and affording me an excuse to drop the phone call I avoided being caught in the ways that the above have been caught.  I went to thank my neighbour for the paper and mentioned that I had been talking to these people on the phone and it turns out that she had also had the same phone call and warned me about the company.  She pointed me towards this page and I read some of the comments.  Thankfully I haven't given out any details nor parted with any money, and having read all the above comments I won't be doing so.

They called tonight. Said they were from Wellbeing Centre in Huntingdon (strange, I thought as it was an 0208, London, number).  He was trying to talk about 'Vinter' something (i.e. very strong accentI guess it was Winter Fuel payment, I don't know. He asked for my dad. I told him if he had any up to date info he'd know my dad died two years ago.  I didn't hang around. I just told him to take me off their 'list' and not phone me again.

I have blocked the number so it'll never get through again.

I was receiving up to 24 calls a day from telemarketing numbers. After a quick search I came across this site http://www.tpsonline.org.uk/tps/
The telephone preference service, register with them and these calls should stop within 28 days.
You can register landline and moblie numbers, I did and all calls have now stopped.

I suggest that the fact that this company has all your personal details including your bank details then they are committing offences under the Data Protection Act. I suggest that you report the offence to the Police. Also the Datat Protection Office.

They will probably try to fob you off stating that it is a civil matter. IT IS NOT  it is a CRIMINAL OFFENCE to hold persons personal data.

I have just received one of these calls and that is my reason for looking at this web site.  I am afraid that I am not very polite to these callers I resort to telling them F*** O** and they usually ring off quite promptly

    I hope that this helps

Keep bombarding my elderly father with phone calls, but fortunately because he can't hear them he puts the phone down.

I received a call this morning from someone who seemed to have difficulty with English, so I couldn't understand who he claimed to be ringing from.  He said they were ringing elderly people.  I asked how he knew my age and he gave a garbled answer about data manager (except that he couldn't pronounce manager).  I tried to find out who he was representing but couldn't understand the answer.  He claimed that he was operating within the law but I said that I was registered with the TPS and always ticked the boxes that my information should not be passed on.

He claimed to be ringing from Bedford but the number is, I think, a Croydon number.

My concern is that this is clearly being targetted at "soft targets", ie the elderly.

I don't think it is helpful to make this into a racism issue.  It's the employer you should be blaming, not the person trying to make a living.

Just got a call from Wellness Centre. Asked for Mrs which i am not. Proceeded to ask me really quite personal questions about my joints and then if i was menopausal or a lactating mother. Asked me my age. Stupidly i gave the info as i dont like to be outrightly rude to people.
Then she satrted going on about Pomy supplements and how good pomeragranate is for women with hormone imbalances.
The penny then dropped when she mentioned breast cancer. How cynical are this company that they will come out the day after the news is full of stats on the rise in breast cancer and try to play on womens fears about getting this awful disease.
Eventually informed her that i do not buy things over the phone from cold callers. She then became quite indignant and why this was the case as she was a woman and had childern at home and was only trying to help. At that point i hung up

An interesting chain of comments.  I've been doing a little research as I've now had at least a dozen calls in a little over a week from the pest number, but they also use 02086190070 and 02086191234.
I've just sent this email to their complaints email address (complaints@sandawellbeing.com)
"Telephone number 01234 567890 - obviously not my real one for this forum!
I am receiving telephone calls on my ex-directory telephone number which is registered with the Telephone Preference Service on a recurrent basis from a number which is used by your company or associate business.
I do not know how you came to be in possession of my ex-directory telephone number which is registered with the Telephone Preference Service, but upon returning one of your previous calls which I identified from my call logger, I requested that my details be removed from your database.  As the calls have continued, this has clearly not been done.
I am sure you are well aware that you that you are breaking the law insofar as my ex-directory telephone number is registered with the Telephone Preference Service and in addition you do not have my permission to hold my details in your records so YOU ARE IN BREACH OF THE DATA PROTECTION ACT and THE PRIVACY AND ELECTRONIC COMMUNICATIONS REGULATIONS.
I therefore demand that you remove my telephone number stated above from your records immediately, along with any details connected to it, as failure to do so will result in any appropriate action that I consider necessary being taken against your company and / or associate businesses.  You clearly have my ex-directory telephone number which is registered with the Telephone Preference Service as you are using it, but I have no intentions of providing you with my name and address as you should be able to locate all such details yourself when deleting my ex-directory telephone number from your records."
I know it's a bit repetitive, but the "ex-directory telephone number which is registered with the Telephone Preference Service" bits I typed in bold and underlined, so it looked really good!  Feel free to cut and paste the same letter to them if they keep bothering you.  If they don't stop, I am going to complain to Advertising Standards Authority, TPS, Information Commissioner's Office, Trading Standards and a couple of others that I will have thought of by then, if the need arises.  Meanwhile, to save you looking it up for yourself, here are details of the company:

Received a call from Anna at 'Well-being' this morning (07/02/11, 10.10am).

This number is subscribed to TPS and is also ex-directory.

Unfortunately, it appears the homeowner has filled in a questionnaire at some point and foolishy provided all their details.

It's so annoying being inundated with this type of call. We are having to resort to buying an answer machine.

But mainly I feel angry for elderly and vulnerable people who fall victim to these scams.

Don't ever confirm the details they have for you, and please don't ever give your bank details.

And one more thing, I agree with the poster who said it's not helping bringing race into the matter. There's frankly no need for that kind of talk.
