Had a call from Felix Wade asking to arrange a teleconference call between our MD and Charles Falconer who heads up the energy sector from the Parliamentary Info Office.  Asked him to send me an email and I would respond but refused to do so he was not allowed to do so at this early stage of our conversation.  I offered to send him an email so he could respond and again refused to do so.  i got suspecious and looked this up and discovered that it was a hoax after all.

Cut glass accent and pushy cold call sales, not an obvious combination. "Robin Taylor" called to say I'd been identified as a leader in my field, but couldn't quite tell me what field that was. Wanted  to talk me through the Parliamentary Yearbook Information Office website but didn't have his own email address. Told me that I would be appearing alongside other leading lights, but a look at the adverts suggests it's more  like conned wannabes and organisations that don't look too closely at how they spend their marketing budget.
Most alarmingly, needed an answer within 48 hours. Now I've seen this site and the warnings (and the r elated phone numbers/names), he'll have to wait rather longer for a call back!

Just had a call from Robin Taylor of 0208 956 4110 from the Parliamentary office. (His number came up as UNKNOWN on my phone but this is the number he gave me). Heard I am a Barrister and have been recommended as the only Queen's Counsel specialising in crime. I was asked to write an article of 500 words or 1,000 words in their prestigious book which will be read by all Solicitors and members of the legal profession and a copy will even be sent to the Queen for her to read! They are a charitable organisation so need a contribution to publishing costs of £2,750 for a 500 word article and £4,900 for a 1,000 word article. No worries though I would generate at least £50,000 of work as a result!  It had all the hallmarks of a scam so I checked his number and Blakes parliamentary year book and came up with this useful site. They have a site www.parliamentaryyearbook.co.uk. It is pretty amateurish. Asked me to phone back by lunch having looked at the website. Sadly he will be waiting a long time!

Another Robin Taylor call. Pressing for immediate confirmation of payment of £2750 for an article. Very pushy. Full of promises as to circulation - and appearances on TV - Question Time!
    Beware.

William Henshaw called claiming to have “good news regarding our outstanding contribution to agriculture”.  When I pressed for more detail he just said could not say any more due to ministerial involvement!

Interesting how the callers in this thread are all upstanding British characters - William, Charles, Edward with equally splendid surnames.

Sadly my employer was caught by this scam - they got through to a director who thought it was a genuine government call relating to the contract we were working on. We ended up paying about £3,000 for a non existent article despite cancelling immediately we realised we'd been had.

The directors behind Blake are David Blake and Judith Briers. Both were previously disqualified by Companies House as 'unfit directors of insolvent companies'. Our lawyers advised us that they must have been seriously naughty because only a tiny number of deviant directors are actually disqualified.

They have a history of selling advertising space in publications of doubtful circulation by misleading the public to think they've been selected on merit to write a prestigious editorial.

The cold call is followed immediately by an order confirmation & the trap is sprung. They then have a well rehearsed (& morally bankrupt) debt collection routine. It was headed by a Dinker Navsaria when they got us.

I have been reading the previous posts about the PIO, and found contact information for an office to report them to for running a company after being disqualified. I do not know if the disqualification is still in effect; it could be anywhere from 2 to 15 years, and may have been lifted.

Click on box #3 below, and look for the comment by Observer to PA, dated 24 May 2011, and scroll down to numbered paragraph 6. Read the entire comment for a history of the company including their legal troubles.

    Best wishes-I hope that helped.

Had a call from "William Henshaw" on this number today.  Sounded like a call centre in the background and his "I can only give out the information to the director" almost invariably indicates a sales call.

I told him we'd had similar calls before and they ended up trying to sell us something.  Of course, he said that they weren't!

So, very useful to have my suspicions confirmed by "whocallsme.com".

Today - 23rd August 2012 - it was the turn of William Henshaw asking for one of our Senior Partners by name and saying we had been selected as a company of excellence in our field.  Now that I have read all of the above, I will not be passing on anything to the Partner concerned.  I also look forward to "William" calling again.

We had a call from William Henshaw at the Parliamentary Information Office requesting a call back from the MD in response to our 'outstanding performance'. Fortunately this gracious and flattering call triggered our sales offices' acute fraud antenea and we googled them. So grateful to read all these similar threads and avoid scammers, thanks.

    Mr R
Had a call from "Victoria Barnes" claiming she had made an appointment for a phonecall with our CEO (impossible as CEO) was on leave) about a government fraud initiative.  she refused to give me any further information about what the call was about and was extremely condescending.  I realised that this was some sort of scam immediately due to her appaling manners.

Presumably they wanted to sell us an expensive advert or something similar

someone called and was really snotty saying they could only speak to a director as it was confidential government business. i was suspicous and googled them and found this. i was sure they had called before and it was spam and i was right. the woman called 'Victoria Barnes' said it was her direct line which it clearly wasnt as when i called her back no one seemed to know who she was. Clearly not so important after all!!

so unethical these things. Everyone has a job to do but dont lie to get there you should be ashamed of yourselves whoever you are.
