- Sean Woodcock| 2 repliesHere's a warning guys. These people are about by the station in Coventry. Made me do cold-selling on a '9hr 'observation' day as part of the interview. Have a few adverts on websites dotted about for the same thing. So watch out

- alex mann| 1 replyHas anyone been to an interview at castle road marketing in manchester. Ive got one tomorrow but thinking of not going
- miaow replies to alex mannHad an interview in manchester today (castle road)
I was never going to take the position, just went down because I was curious, and being unemployed is boring (there's only so much Jeremy Kyle you can watch). Anyway, 30 minutes after interview was scheduled, lady walks in calling my name AND someone elses. That's right, dual interview, good start. The other woman had loads of experience, seemed really successful with what she was doing already and luckily walked out half way through because she knew it wasn't for her. It was horribly awkward at the time, mainly because she'd left me with the no-blinky-big-smiley-sales-robot interviewer, who wasn't listening to a word I said.
Like I said, was never going to take the role, been sales raped by a victoria jackson guy in town before who basically tried to force my debit card into a pin machine (ok, I little emphasis, but that's the only thing I emphasize about) but I'm glad I went because now I can tell anyone who is looking for work to [***] this one off completely!
This was advertised as an admin role by the way... Pffft. - AnonymousI worked for this company for around two weeks. It wasn't until my first day working for Castle Road Marketing I figured there was no real salary, and the form you have to sign basically takes away their liability to pay you a wage. Any money you make is purely commission. Some days I even made a loss by spending more on travel than I made in sales; which after an eleven hour day (up to 75 hours per week) certainly makes you question your job.
You geninely have to be good at sales here, and the company only want you to do well for their own benefit. They continuously tell you that as long as you maintain a 'positive attitude' and 100% effort that 'a law of averages' means you can meet your targets every day. I really feel that if your not naturally good at sales, and happy with taking s**t from people every single day you should hang fire and wait for another job to come along.
Good luck with your job hunting :)- Caller: Castle Road Marketing
- Chris replies to Glad to be there| 1 replyyou cant even spell career, so how can we expect you to spot your 'job' is a scam? idiot
- Samantha replies to information provider| 3 repliesI think they have changed their name. I stupidly fell for this. I was extremely suspicious of attending the interview as I had no previous experience yet I was invited along to an interview anyway in their Coventry offices. I made it round to the next stage, surprise surprise, but luckily after researching online I found this blog. THANKS!! Their name currently is SMG Solutions, apparently their website is under construction. I wonder how long for. The same number exists though 02476 220 500. There is also another company within Birmingham which I think is doing the exact same thing, Midland Consulting Centre they're called. Don't be mislead by the chirpy receptionist that calls and congratulates you for making it through to interview stage. I think it is just the same scam. Their number is 0121 270 5379 ext 12.
- eastregion replies to leeI am investigating this issue, so looking for anyone who can help me with further info about the companies. Please email site dot admin247 at googlemail dot com
I look forward to hearing from you.. - MaryMidlands Consulting Centre are in no way related to SMG Solutions.
They are an independent company with high standards and high customer acquisition. - Pissed OffIm not sure if LMC Marketing of Cardiff are the same company but if they are then stay well away! A mate of mine has just been in a job with them and was told that he would earn a basic salary to follow up on leads generated by cold callers then at the end of the week was told that all had changed and he would now be expected to work on 100% commission earning only £5 for every person that signs up and bearing in mind that they only expect 20 people to sign up in a week means he earns £100 per week, so when he works about 9 to 9.5 hours in a day it means he earns about £2.10 per hour which I think you would agree is just not right!
They all say they earn fantastic wages (up to £150000 per year) and yet they either catch the bus to work or drive clios and 206's, well ok so maybe they all dont like cars but then they dont have fancy suits or smart shoes, they all have the watch that shines the brightest but dont have a designer name on it, and they all seem to live in a flat. So either they all dont like the nice things in life or they just tell lies about how much they earn!!!
I would suggest that anyone with the basic level of intelligence to complete any university qualification should hold themselves in a slightly higher regard than to expect this kind of treatment. After all if you put up with all the late night studying and exam stress I would hope you want to provide yourself with a better income than £2.10 per hour. Also if you work out how much uni debt you have and divide your payments by the amount your genuinely going to earn in this kind of role then you will be passing this debt down to your children because it just doesn't add up!
WHY WOULD ANY SALES JOB EXPECT YOU TO WORK FOR 100% COMMISSION? LOOK AT ANY GENUINE SALES ROLE AND IT WILL OFFER A BASIC WAGE + COMMISSION. The only reason why you wouldnt get a basic is because they are not sure if there is any money to be earned and they cant afford to take the risk! - Professional??? replies to Glad to be thereThats not very professional of u to post that on here is it? Surely if you love it so much you wouldn't be going on things like this on the net! U clearly are someone high up in that 'company' and are scared that people will find out about your little shi*ty scam!! Get a proper job u fool!
- Glad to be there replies to ChrisWhat do I need to spot so I didn't spell something right. You must be a student just out uni thinking your great wasting 3years in dept and now prob just Working in a retail store but who cares I am now a manager and earning some amazing money. Weak minded people make me laf yea it's commission based pay but so what I ten to find the people who run away are people who are lazy this is where you have to work for your money if your scared of that then don't go for these interviews but if you like work for real results then cool it's for you. But now I am a manager I decided where I want my office I am there so I now have Greg office 23 people working with me and I'm a 30 sec walk from the beach. If you all are thinking of going for a interview just go ask questions see what you think. God people stop being a sheep and start thinking for yourselfs
- ConfusedI went for interview and then they called me back for second door to door with talk talk not that bad really don't mind pay structure but I'm confused everyone saying this is a scam but to be fair if they are how are they working with one of the biggest companies in the uk and people are signing up for this they get the talk talk services so what's the scam I don't get it

- Its MeI have been working in the Coventry branch for roughly a month now and so far have progressed to a team leader. At the start I was abit unsure about the opportunity and if it was real or not, cause you know I read the blogs and saw the negative press on the internet, but I felt there had to be more to this than on face value. This will be confirmed tomorrow when a guy who visited our office on a business trip and took me out on my second day training as a team leader is being promoted to an assistant manager in London after being in the business for 8 months. I had been told about alot of other people getting promoted but had never actually seen any of those guys in the field. In fact my manager goes in the field most Saturdays, which to be fair is good to see cause it shows that they also still get stuck in too (even if it is only 1 day a week!). I must admit that it is time consuming and my social life is mainly limited to weekends. Now if I put all this into prospective I went to uni for 3 years and ended up in over £10k of debt with student loans and most importantly a Hons Degree. Now here is an opportunity to learn how to run a business which if I do it right should take a year at most which by the way is the most time I plan to invest in this. If it works out then I will be able to make alot of money running an office. On the other hand if it doesn't then I can take it as an experience to put on my cv, after all most employers ask for experience (being a recent gradute making this abit difficult) so worse case I will have a year of direct sales experience. Now I have seen some people complaining about paying for travel and food. Well when I was at uni I had to do this anyway as I didn't stay on campus spending £50 a week on travel and probably another £30 on food.
- SDM| 3 replieshi i used to a be manager for one of these offices, the company was lmc marketing but it was based in belfast then (now in cardiff), i can honestly give the best kind of description as i was with them for over 2 years and ended up taking over the belfast based office for door to door sales of talk talk (phone and broadband provider)
For anyone just out of uni this is a good place to gain some sales expierience - this is all this place is useful for, it 100% commision based, so if you are told otherwise, its a lie, if you dont sell this means you make absolutley no money, which i confidently say will happen alot!, you will be working in the winter, rain snow selling products door to door with no guarentee of it being worth it, to be honest it will test your mentallity alot, and make you realise how hard you are willing to work for something
As i said i was a manager and i wont diss the whole expierience because i gained alot of expierience from it and very good sales skills making my cv look shiney putting me into a good position now,
So all in all anyone looking for a career, this is not the place, but anyone looking for some expierience it definitley worth a blast for something to add to your cv- Caller: lmc

The name on the email title was a Laura Mccarthy but the email is from someone else. Who am i dealing with here?
I have just replied to the email and said i will not be attending the appointment tomorrow as after some research i feel cold calling is not for me. No reply...surprise surprise.
I am actually gutted as i was made redundant 2 months ago and am desperate to get into work again however i am not that desperate that i am prepared to wander the streets in all weathers for hours on end knocking on doors of people who really arnt interested. I know they arnt interested as i myself as a homeowner hate people knocking on my door trying t convince me to buy something. The people on here who work for these people and enjoy door knocking in the rain must have had very little previous job experience as a REAL paid job is muh better than this even if its min wage...at least you are guarenteed some earnings for your hard work.
Glad i found this site. DONT FALL FOR IT GUYS! - Eve replies to EveSorry to the person above who i seemed to have replied to. It was the only way i culd see to post. Just to let you know this reply was not to your post inparticuar but a general comment on the topic. x

- louise| 3 repliesI worked with Castle Road Marketing during the summer as part of my Business degree and found the skills i learnt within just a short while very beneficial. They work alongside legitimate multinational companies and are based in Newcastle and so this telephone isn't even relevant to them?
