- Laura replies to louiseHi Louise, I have an interview with castle road marketing in Newcastle this week. Did you find them completely legitimate, as I'm feeling sceptical!
- Jen replies to information providerJMS Marketing is another scam!
- Jen replies to louise| 1 replyWhat did your job actually entail?
- Escada| 1 replyHas anyone been for an interview with a company called Source Marketing Direct Ltd in Luton tel number 01582455134?
I applied for this job on total jobs and they were advertising for customer service advisors, admin staff etc.
I had a call within 2 days by a woman giving her name as Lauren, o how enthusiastic she was by firstly telling me congratulations you have been invited for an interview, my manager and I looked at your CV and was impressed.
I am not only worried, I am not happy cause now I really wish I was a private investigator!!
I found a website for this company stating it is in London, but when you look at the site it looks fake!
I looked up the name http://www.ripoffreport.com/multi-level-marketing/source-promotional-g/source-promotional-group-the-2a48f.htmof the said director Hector Montalvo and all I kept coming up was scam, this is what I came across
The more I looked the more it smells! I even googled this mans name and only this sort of info comes up.
I won't be a victim, I will go along to this interview and listen to what they have to say, but will be reporting them if I Iook around and notice anything strange, though I know nothing will be done, they will probably move on to the next poor city or town.- Caller: Source Marketing Direct Ltd
- JamesHad an interview with LMC marketing in cardiff last friday, first impressions werent great, as soon as I walked into "reception" I was greeted by some dippy tart called ali shove who's voice annoyed the crap out of me. This was the same ali who had replied to my application, and sent me a confirmation email under a different name (laura mccarter). As I sat down on the chairs, accompanied by the bellowing drum and bass from the radio, I noticed that some of the other applicant were dressed in tracksuits and trainers, indicating that perhaps everyone had been asked for an interview who had applied.
When it came to my interview i was greeted by a forty something year old woman who stunk of B.O and not to mention had a massive build of ear wax. She led me in to one of the adjoining rooms and proceeded to tell me about the business whilst I tried as hard as i could to get in any information about myself as she appeared uninterested in anything I had to say and didnt bother asking me questions. She didnt really describe what the job entailed, but she told me that i would effectively be on "a six month fast track to being a manager, with the responsiblity of 15 people". I thought that was great, as anyone would. She then said that she would ring me back between 5 and half 5 if i had got the position, and said the next stage would involve a day out with the team etc. to see how i fitted in.
The phonecall came around 5 pm to tell me the news in some X factor esque manner ("your through to the final 3!!!")
After reading these comments its clear my gut instincts and general common sense assumptions were correct. I will not be attending the interview tomorrow. Now clean your ears out you dirty fat mare.- Caller: LMC Marketing

- emccmindy| 2 repliesplease please please dont do it!!! no matter how desprerate you are TRUST ME burger king is a far better choice than lmc marketing or g-force or any other of these marketing companies, its easy to spot the current employees on this blog as they are the ones saying -WORK HARD- lol makes me laugh, work hard so the manager can do nothing and rob you of your earnings while preaching to you that you can do it! i wont bore anybody with my experience with one of these so called marketing companies, but i do feel i need to leave this message because during my time there, i witnessed a lot of good decent people being taken advantage of, running themselves into the ground, getting more and more into dept because of it. it would be nice to believe that its that easy to own and run your own marketing company in 12 months, but the reality of it is even if you do get that far, you will be in thousands of pounds worth of dept, 9000 of these offices have been opened world wide, and only 800 of them are still operational, so DONT NEG OUT!! SEE CLEARLY AND DONT BE BRAINWASHED! the people telling you not to neg out are too far into it to see themselves, i feel so sorry for people in these companys even the ones at the top, and hope one day you all find better decent jobs, or at the very least run your own businesses- the honest proper way not by scamming young people outta there hard earned money!!
- emccmindy replies to emccmindyoh and before the manipulators try to twist anything that i have said, let me make it VERY CLEAR, while i was 'self employed' i earned very good money, - i was one of the lucky ones, and i found being out on the field extremely enjoyable,- and if it ended there i wouldnt be writing this- but once promoted finding out the truth of the matter, you start to realise where all the b.s in this company really lies, and when you find yourself taking obs out- spinning the b.s that someone spinned you- thats when you realise 'what the fudge am i doing'?! so please again, go work in burger king - because theres no shame in making a honest living, and at the end of the day you will still be able to look yourself in the face :)
- Miss SmithHey everyone,
Just thought I’d comment as I needed to prove to a friend that the 'interview' she was going to would be a waste of time and showed her the various blogs along with my own personal experience.
I was employed in one of these companies originally as one of their 'Dynamic Marketing Assistants' needless to say the position wasn't for me as will be explained below, then as an 'Administrator' when a position became available that was deemed more suitable.
My experience as an administrator is as follows....Be at the office 8am, Update each of the adverts placed on the recruitment websites making sure you're advert is the first advert people see in the morning when starting their job hunt, prepare the CVs that have come in from the previous evening, Call that days prospective candidates and confirm they will be attending the interview at allocated time, Call 2nd round candidates to confirm their appointments, call every number from every new cv and act like their cv is the best cv we have seen and persuade to come in for interview either that day or next day. Had to book between 50-60 people a day to allow for cancellations. When candidates arrive for interview pass out application forms, keep the chatter light so that they don't talk to anyone else; update adverts again (top of the pile). Be as vague as possible at all times. Send out second interview confirmations and prepare for final interviews for returning 2nd stage candidates on their return to the office. Day finished 6-7pm depending on if you'd reached the day’s target.
Needless to say I had some morals and left after a month. Would have been sooner but desperation and the need to pay bills was a must. Administrator position was paid position apart from the supposed commission for each candidate that walks through the door.
My experience as a Field agent....
Desperation makes people do the stupidest things.
Basically get to the 'office' at 8ish, prepare for your team meeting and daily training session known as ‘atmosphere’ where you learnt that KISS SEX and STD's were something else other than the obvious. Keep It Short and Simple blah blah blah, Fear of loss and running impacts will be familiar if you've been there. Running around a circle ringing a bell too. Atmosphere is where the brainwashing starts as you try to learn the management program (copying useless information off a whiteboard). This can take up to two hours per day. You then get your stock and go with your team leader who will have a 2nd round candidate with them to your given destination, anything from door to door, the annoying charity people in shopping centres or petrol stations to 'directly market' your clients product of which you receive a very small commission. Believe me...they don't have to pay too much for the product so their mark-up is quite high. You carry on for a few weeks because sheer determination to prove yourself wrong that you haven't been mugged off working 12+ hour shifts 6 days a week for pennies will eventually pay off. When you finally decide enough is enough ....you get promoted and get to build your own team (how exciting) they just got another couple of life sucking weeks out of you.
It goes like this, you start off as a distributer (mug), then a training manager (build your own team b**********g the next bunch of innocents ), Team/Crew Leader (supervising your team while they supervise their teams, Extra commission on above sales), Assistant Manager (as above with apparent basic wage and yet more commission) to owner eventually (your own office sucking the life out of desperate people never ever earning anywhere near the £75,000 promised). This evident by the fiat puntos that they drive.
Needless to say the administrator before me did a runner (I wish I’d taken a leaf out of her book) and that's how I ended up mugging people off for which I really really regret. - Wary D replies to heleneThere is far too much of this sort of thing going on in this country today. Get rich cowboys are everywhere. This one smelled bad from the moment I saw their ad on a jobsite which I think from experience are dodgy themselves (is there any that arent?)
Classic signs of the dodgy"employer". 1.Sales/Marketing related.2/Self employed status 3/Vague or no job description 4/Everyone gets the job 5/Commission is rarely paid if ever 6/ Many different names associated with the company 7/Cold calling sales 8/They will use YOUR PHONE,YOUR COMPUTER,YOUR CAR 9/No expenses paid 10/Will promise you the Earth but never deliver.
They exploit people who have difficulty getting a job for various reasons like young without any qualifications/ experience or people over 50 who have been made redundant and due to the rampant, stupid and illegal age discrimination in this country are frankly desperate to escape poverty and the equally immoral debt collecting industry.
VINCE CABLE SHOULD DO SOMETHING ABOUT CLEANING UP THESE RODENTS AS WELL AS THE BANKERS - TeeGuyz never ever attend an interview at SMG Solutions they are time wasters and they are liars. I spent the whole dayin Daventry for nothing and they just congratulate you for nothing. If they know that you will definitely get the clients why cant they put a basic salary.

- joe bloggs replies to johnnyYour an idiot mate for saying good luck in your £5-£7 per hour jobs lol u say u earn 400 a week nothing less ok lets do the math....u guys work 12 hours a day 6 days a week (sat is not a half day that complete bull) so that makes a 72 hour week....so 400/72 = £5.56 (i rounded it up just for you) so your on £5 per hour too mate lol complete idiot and one more thing your self employed so that £5.56 is gross without deductions so in fact mate your the one who needs luck.
- Ex employeeYeah this is a scam it's great fun but you don't earn money I worked a Coventry office Jan- march 2010 I was doing events work at the time and I know Joel and mike and Sophie (the mangers) they are great people they take you down local pub and buy you drinks at end of the day i can't say enough positive things about them you play games do loads of shouting dancing the office is like a night club (a bad one) BUT you don't get enough money to live on you may have your good days and bad but it's not enough money to pay rent, petrol, gas, electric, tax ect and being self- employed you have to fill out very complex tax and government paperwork this means unless your good and tax and maths you need to pay a accountant or tax expert and that ain't cheap you WONT be a manger on 60k and three months you WONT progress in life you WONT run your own office and have your own staff but you WILL have fun you WILL met loads of new people you WILL get loads of free drinks at the local you WILL work aprox 11-14 hours a day at least 6 days a week (they will get you to work Sunday) I hope I have helped you I have tried to show both sides of the coin i have tried to give the facts with out being one sided

- Eddie| 15 repliesI had an observation day with MP Solutions Direct in Coventry yesterday, which was great fun, in a sarcastic kind of way. We set off by car to a service station 70 miles away near Oxford, and set up shop selling Victoria Jackson cosmetics. I was told to observe and not ask questions except to the team leader, and only if I had to, because I'd be interrupting the 'event'. So I watched, had a coffee and slice of cake, had a read of the paper (we were in a service station - lots of cafes and shops etc), and waited in anticipation of one of the team making a sale.
I know from another source that they get £5 for every make-up set that they sell (team leader refused to tell me that, just said she made £500 a week), anyway, 4 hours gone, no sales between the 3 of them. At lunch the team leader said she'd sold 2, but I'd been 'observing' so I knew that wasn't true. After lunch a sale was made, after which the team seemed rejuvenated and started jumping about and getting excited, but that was the only sale of the day, meaning that 1 person out of 3 had made £5 for a 12 hour day - the others made nothing.
The best bit of the day was mid-afternoon when the team leader told me she'd been on the phone to the manager and he had given permission for me to work the 'event' for the rest of the day if I wanted to, which was apparently unheard of and he must be really impressed by me! I declined this kind offer and said that I didn't want the job anyway. The team leader then phoned the manager again and came back to me saying that she was sorry but she would be terminating the interview, as she felt I wasn't career-driven enough for the position. I was delighted to hear this and tried not to laugh.
I felt sorry for the people there - they make next to nothing, pay petrol to get to the 'event' site, pay for their refreshments out of their own pocket, and are obsessed with promotion and management, saying that they'll be opening their own office soon.
I hope for their own sakes that yesterday was a one-off, a particularly bad day, but I doubt that is the case.
The manager of MP Solutions Direct is Mike Poole, who I believe progressed from Pure Solutions Direct which used to operate from the same office, but has now ceased trading. The office is also home to SMG Solutions.- Caller: MP Solutions
