Just thought I would say something diffrent than all the slagging off. I work up north with talk talk witch I'm sure a few people on this blog might of heard of. I have been door to door for the last 5 months and I am loving it on adverage I make 350_500 per week. Yes I work long hours yes the pay is performance witch they tell everyone on second interview. Yes there have even been days where I made no money but let's look at it this way
Let's say I started up my own biz.
I would first need a lot of money to get the things I need building, stock, ect
If it is my biz I would work all the hours I needed to make it work. And even when you see these shops on the high street witch are privately owned they still work on commission if they don't sell anything they don't get paid. If the worse thing happens they loose there biz loose house and all the money they out into it. So before everyone who reads this then listens to the bad things said if you really want a oppatunity workiing for yourself making money based on how hard you really work then go along and see for yourself. All these people who slag it off either got turned down on interviews because they were not right for it and feel they wasted a day of their life so the only thing to do is come on here and slag it off cos it makes you feel all warm inside. Also the people who say they got a bad impression or had source that told them about it your full of it cos why else would you go back.
Or they worked in places like this and failed because they were lazy or admins that got sacked.
These oppatunites are real yes there is hard work long hours but do you see people slag off security companies where you work 12 hour days.
I advise going to a interview and make up your own mind don't let these narrow minded people do it for you, like I said I enjoy it and working on talk talk door to door I love it.

Sorry 'still working' but people in the north don't work 'up north', it's like saying you work 'over there', it's an expression used by people who aren't located there, and if you work for Talk Talk why are you working for someone else and what's the relevance anyway ? Did Talk Talk sack you or did you resign ? The comment is meaningless and irrelevant and isn't likely to fill anyone with awe either.

I believe the employment terms being 'self employed' on a commission basis is not 'performance' and why only mention it on the second interview ? If you don't mention the basic employment terms in an initial interview what is discussed - football ?

Aaaah you mention "talk talk door to door" - so do you think Talk Talk door to door is what that firm does ?

I've got to say that your attempted defence of the company has quite the opposite effect, and if this is typical of your I find your claims concerning earnings must be imaginary, like your location.

I had an interview with SMG solutions a few months ago, the job description hardly said anything about what the actual job entailed and I assumed it was a telemarketing job of some kind. The first interview again, they didn't say anything about what the actual job entailed, it's funny you should mention football, we had a brief discussion about that. Anyway, like I said, all that was mentioned in the first interview was that it was a great job for progressing, and the interview told me how he went from earning something like £100,000 or something ridiculous, after only 10 weeks. Being naive as I was I thought this sounded great and eagerly to see if I had got the job; only to hear that I had a second interview. So I went to the second interview the following monday (the first was on a Friday) which started at 12:00, which I thought strange as they called it an 'observation day' so I was basically doing a full day and watching what the job entailed. When I got there I was slightly confused when we were led out to the bus stop, and then it finally hit me that it was a door to door job selling loft insurance!
The whole day I had to follow some other guy who seemed to have been suckered into the job, who told me how great the company was and how much money i'd get for it. I actually bought it for a few hours, but then I found out that the entry level 'employees' didn't even get paid at all! The whole thing stank to high heaven, not to mention I noticed that hardly anyone there seemed to have been employed by them for much longer than a couple of months.
Anyway, I decided to stick it out for the day, out of a matter of principle more than anything, untill finally at about 9:30pm I was offered the job. I asked the bloke if I could have a couple of days to think about it (in honesty I just didn't want to  turn them down face to face) but I was told that they were looking for people who were enthusiastic, and that the position may be filled the next day, so I told them that I didn't want the job and went home.
Since then every time I look for a job I can't help but stumbling upon an advertisement for this job, and it fills me with relief that I obviously had a lucky escape! Why, yesterday I counted 13 advertisements for SMG solutions on Jobsite; almost all of which had different job titles/descriptions, but were obviously the same job, so obviously the placement I turned down was never filled.

i think you will find that if you are from london and you move away that the term up north is commonly used
people if your reading this message trust me these are people that worked for one of these places and were crap at it
they started like everyone because they saw great progression but realised soon after that they were to lazy to put the effort in

i have posted on here few times but no one ever seems to answer when i say
we work for talk talk the largest uk and home broardband provider

if it was a scam they why would they work with these companies

all you that on here chatting [***] one of you answer that

we knock on a door - yes
we sign people up - yes
we get paid based on the apps we sign - yes
does a talk talk engineer go round to fit in in -yes
are they in a talk talk van - yes
do they get talk talk bills - yes
is it hard work - yes

then how can it be a scam
i read once on a site like this where someone wrote if the biz model that good why dont you pay basic
    the answer is that simple
we do not need basic we are confident that i put in the effort my pay reflects that
better than working extra hours in normal job and not getting paid for it

anyone who thinking about going to a interview go down see for yourself go out if you get invited back and if you get through try it you might like it

people like this are narrow minded and they were no good at it and it a shame the first thing alot of people do if they dont like something or they were not good at it is try to slag it off as being something that it not

Talk Talk are a scam company. You try to cancel because you are moving and it's impossible until you get trading standards and Ofcom on their case. It took me 5 months!

Yeah right, anyone with half a brain cell can tell that any positive comments on these scam companies must be posted by the scammers themselves!

These companies are just ripping people off, deceiving people, and are contiuing to get away with it.

If these companies have such major companies on their book, why the hell are they so vague about the job roles they advertise?!

Can you answer that simple question?

If they have major companies on their books why the hell do they have such a high turnover?

Any marketing company can have major companies on their books, and the reason is because these major companies arent paying these scam companies a penny unless they deliver, hence why all the unfortunate people who go to the interviews and then get the job are all self employed, and payed on a COMMISSION ONLY BASIS: NO SALES = NO PAY.

Stop trying to con people, full stop.

    What a load of bollocks!

Are u even aware that the role is self employed meaning the compnay doesnt take any responsibilty or liability for paying you or even having you on their books.

Growth, potential, earnings?  Earnings from a no sale, no pay structure?  Ur having a laugh arent you.

If you want to do sales, go to a proper sales job, with a bsic wage, and proper commission stucture

This post by "Taylor"  is just another post made by the scammers.

How much did they pay you to write this crap?

    Answer me this then:

Why are the job roles so vague?
Why are the interviews so informal?
Why dont they tell you anything about the job description in the job advert?

    What a crock of [***].

IF YOU WANT TO WORK LONG UNSOCIALABLE HOURS WITH PAYING TRAVEL AND LUNCH EXPENSES OUT OF YOU OWN POCKET WITH NO GAURANTEED PAY UNLESS YOU MAKE A SALE, THEN GO AHEAD AND WORK FOR THESE SCAM COMPANIES.

If you want a genuine sales job, look for a proper one with a basic salary.

anyone who offers you a job where the interview is so vague, they dont stress the self employed aspect in their adverts, the commision structure is not clear, and you can become a "manager" in two weeks is a rip off merchant. They will basically have you working ur asre off for them for no basic salary, whilst they send you off all arund the country using money from you own back pocket to pay for travel etc.

THE FACT THAT THEY HAVE KNOWN COMPNAIES AS CLIENTS DOESNT MEAN THEY ARE BEING 100% ETHICAL AND TRUTHFULL IN THEIR RECRUITMENT PROCESS OR ADVETISING OF THEIR ROLES.

I worked at Midlands Consulting centre and went through the same process everyone else did, immediate answer to my application, short first interview, very long second day interview etc. Needless to say I got the job and threw myself right into the mentality of the whole thing. I loved it, meeting the people and working hard. Unfortunately I was naive to the commision based aspect of it, sales is hard and if your not a natural from the get go you have to put time and hard work into it. Time however was not on my side and I couldnt afford to stay at the company long enough to get good at sales, I had to pay the rent.
After seeing the running of the company, I will say I don't think its a scam but it is a very effective business in a recession. Its a modern day marketing company aiming to get the highest profit for the smallest cost. Self-employed workers, low expenses and high turn over of staff makes this one streamlined company. Sales is psychological manipulation whatever the circumstance, these companies are just a bit more obvious. Go into with your eyes open and you'll have a great experiance, just be aware of what you're getting into.
Anyways that my two pennies worth.

I was stupid enough to go to both stages of the interview with SMG solutions in Coventry. I was very suspicious after the first interview, with the pay being low and hours long but reluctantly attended the second interview the day after. On the second interview I was sent to observe door to door sales of loft insulation by a team leader in Birmingham. After observing only three sales being made in a whole day I decided to go straight home after getting to Coventry Station instead of sitting a stupid test on the laws of averages and all that bull, with the possibility of getting the job.
The employees there were as a whole very pleasant, and seemed to believe that in the next year that they would be opening up their own office earning £3k a week (sounded like ****) and thought that I was a fool for not going ahead with the opportunity and wasting my time going to university.
Do not waste your time with SMG solutions or similar companies!!!! Although they never state what they do in the first interview, it's door to door sales with you earning 100% commission, which i suspect is below the minimum wage. Although i have to admit the day I spent shadowing a door to door salesman was definitely an interesting and at times a fun one.

Avoid this company at all cost's. They will rip you off with very bad commission rates. There are better companies such as Warmfront to do the same job for a much better rates. Yes they know how to have fun in the office, they tell you it isn't about getting 'the numbers' but concentrate on building your business, which goes for the same rule as taking out multiple 2nd round interviews, you find 9/10 you will be paying their travel fare as the great "Shem" fails to tell them they need to pay this or for that matter he will not tell you anything about the company before you go out and it is expected for so called glorified apparently fully trained 'Surveyors' aka Team Leaders to tell them about the commission based rule and the 12 hour shifts you do and all the standing around at night without any organisation skills from Management. My Uni degree is more qualified than SHEM & SMJ. It is no more than a profit making scheme at the expense of ripping poor vulnerable souls off who when they make a complaint they are no less than bullied by Shem, swearing and screaming at so called self employed employees is no way to do business. If he ever did and i were waiting for him to do so i would have knocked the pathetic species out. I am so glad i am back in my own country where you dont find such bad companies.
