Got it too in Melbourne like 1 minute ago, highly annoying !

My husband just called me from London on his mobile and this number came up on my phone so I do not know the technical side of international calls but it seems it is a generic number for overseas calls from mobiles.

Same story as callers listed above.

Missed a call and called back twice to get a message saying the lines to that area are busy... strange

I hope I don't get billed for calling back!

I got a call 11.45 pm last night - was my friend rob mccoy coming in on a voip style fone from cairns - he's australian ceo of giconnect, a service provider - i note that he comes in on a different number every time sometimes it's 0113111001 really odd numbers - giconnect gives u an american number and all calls in and out go through this number - it is a gateway and when the switching stuffs up anyone can get anyone.

me again ... appears to my friend to be 02-8209-4700 is an antiquated if you like gateway - he says that when the system overloads with too many callers (not giconnect, the gateway any vioce on data ie skype, giconnect, voip etc can be allocated) then glitches - when stressed (1) people already on calls can suddenly find themselves talking to a new connection (ii) multiple connections occur as when a free line is sought and it's busy callers (switches) from usually different parts of the world will go for the free line simultaneously and due to switching latency and a busy network two to several may be allocated the same line ... then stepping can get out of synch and (iii) a queued  string of callers may all be allocated the previous or following callers destination - so seems to be an old gateway that suffers under a load it was not designed for and trying to interface with too many networks that are very fast - this it what it appears to be -----

I've just received a call from this number 02 8209 4700.  It was a guy from google Adwords.

fret not people the number is as 'dick' said a gateway, which implies most of the calles made from overseas to australia using any sort of VOIP systems.... be it calling cards or Online systems like skype or yahoo ..... end up routing calls through this number.... :p

Called me around 10am aest , sadly I tried to call back 4 times before googling this info. Not happy.

I just got a missed call from this number, they left a voicemail.  It was from Zend (the php company). Someone was calling to bug me to renew some licenses.

This number keeps calling me between 6-8pm every night (Sydney time). Yet to answer it! It was anon number at first.

pretty sure this is a skype out thing. if someone, anywhere in the world, has your number and calls you with skype out, then it shows up as this number.  something to so with the server gateway perhaps.  that's why its an indian telemarketer for some, and relatives for others. just a thought, but makes sense, no?

I got a call from this number 8pm last night. I pressed the stop key as I didn't recognise the number. In a few seconds it rang again and this time the number was not displayed. I don't get many calls to my mobile, especially in the evening, so I assume it was the same person ringing twice. Someone from overseas, ringing with a calling card, then trying their own phone line, thinking there was something wrong with the card when the call was disconnected? My first thought was that it was the Yellow Pages or some other telemarketer. Now, after reading some of the comments, I will listen next time.

Have received calls from 02 8209 4700 all arvo about 30 times and so over it.
Tried to call back but only a computer generated voice in the other end.
Who is this?

I received six times from this number.
