    I got a call from these people; I asked them where they had got my number from and they said a telephone survey.  I dont remembering doing a telephone survey.  Anyway I was told £1 to cover cost of registering & Welcome Pack/Magazine; and wasnt I lucky that it was not necessary to give security number on card!  I asked how subscription was taken; would it be monthly direct debit?  The agent said "yes" and paperwork would be in welcome pack.  I didn't think £59.99 over 12 months was too much for a mag with all the offers promised; with the guaranteed £20 petrol cashback (even if you cancelled); which I will claim just out of interest!  When the welcome pack arrived it all looked very professional and the offers mentioned on the phone were repeated and, if genuine, would make it good value..I would use the £20 petrol, £20 cinema and £100 tavel vouchers.  But alarm bells rang when I could not find a direct debit form.  I would not have agreed if I knew it would be a one-off immediate payment; my finances would not cope with it.  I phoned my bank who said they could not do anything to stop a payment on the debit card but if it was taken I could make a claim (I thought you could only do this on credit cards ?).

    I phoned the 0800 number; it took a while to get through but the agent who answered apologised when I complained about the misinformation on payment and  she agreed to cancel my membership. To make doubley sure I tried to log onto their website as the letter said this was the best way to cancel....and I saw rows and rows of links where other people were complaining the £79.99 had been taken from their accounts within days, even though they had cancelled.

    I phoned my bank again, who had not been very helpful initially and reported the card as lost.  My card was cancelled and, on checking my account debits, it looks as though I did this just in time.  If not my bank will get another phone call;  refering to the earlier conversation with their rep.

    What's this country coming to.???!!!!  Please dont respond to any sales phone calls if you have not requested them - they are using all the tricks in the book; especially now they can be in big trouble by doorstep selling.

    In September 2011 i was contacted by Me-Magazine with regards to taking out a subscription to their Cancer charity magazine.
    I was stupid enough to agree to take a trial copy for £1 witht he understanding that nothing else would be sent or taken from my account without my say so.

    I received the magazine with a letter which said we had to cancel to stop a payment of £65 being taken.   I called and cancelled immediately.  

    A week later £65 was taken from my account!

    I contacted them and they did refund this.   I told them i wanted to be removed from their system and to never be contacted again.

    A year down the line, In October 2012 i noticed £59 has been taken from my account with no contact from them and certainly no authorisation from my self!

    I have tried to contact them on many occasions and when i eventually got through to them on 17/10/12 i was told a refund would be made within 10 days.   This never appeared!   It again took a while to get through due to their ever full mailbox but eventually spoke to someone last Monday - 13/11/12 to be told it was due to be actioned.   I said i would call back today 20/11/12 if it was not in my bank account.

    I had a phone call from "Melife" magazine today ...... at 18.40!! They told me I could get a £20 fuel voucher and the first magazine free all for £1 , they asked for my bank detains but I told them I was in minus already so I was not going to give them my details ( I really wanted time to google them first) Amy , or so she said her name was, then asked if I didn't have anyone else that would let me use their bank card so I wouldn't miss out on their great offer ..... I told her NO I lived alone, at that she gave me her number ..... they must have a new one .... 08006696480 ..... and told me she would phone me back next week

    I have also been scammed by this so called magazine offer, paid a £1 then before the 14 days was up they took £79.99, never even received any magazine or fuel vouchers, total scam, their phone number constantly just bleeps then cuts you off, if only i could get my hands on these scum bags behind this.

    I was taken by surprise by this company yesterday evening. I am by no means stupid but I was not allowed to get a word in and they said it was for charity£1 only.They were going to send me a voucher for petrol and a magazine if I liked the magazine the yearly cost was £80.00 The more I thought about it the more I realised I had probably been set up. So to be on the safe side I cancelled my card today.

    Same happened to me today! I had a phone call from a polite lady called Sophie saying that because I had done a telephone survey I was entitled to £20 petrol vouchers if I trialled the magazine for £1 and that I would have 14 days to cancel if I did not like IT and I could still keep the petrol vouchers. I stupidly agreed and gave my card details. After a couple of hours I did not feel right about the phone call so looked them up on the internet and have found this forum and another all saying the same thing. I called my bank immediately and they can't see a payment taken and I have cancelled my card. Hopefully I have gotten off lucky! I can't believe it is still happening though as I have seen complaints as far back as 2010! They need to be stopped!

    I also have been taken in by this company. Originally paying the £1 (26th Sept2012)and having the magazine sent to me, with several coupons to be redeemed, one being for £20 worth of free fuel.
    Again I was charged £65 (9th October) for annual membership taken from my credit card prior to the 14 days.I have managed to get through to them once, where they promised to refund my £65. I have just checked on mt October statement  where it was taken from and still no refund on my November statement. I have e mailed them from their website 3 times but no reply., and have not been able to get them on the 0800 number.I have no other recourse now except to cancel this particular credit card when it is at a nil balance to stop any further payments coming off.
    They are definitely a scam company judging by all the letters.
    I am 66 years old and am absolutely disgusted with this sort of scam. These bucket telephone sales are springing up all over the place.
    This is unfortunately not the first time I have been conned . 2 years ago I lost over £700 with an American Travel Company , which conveniently went bust,
    jail the lot of them, having had the lash first.!!

    Have been caught in the Me Magazine scam.Have been swindled out of £79.99 called at the end of November agreed to look at  the magazine and to pay £1.0.0 for the the magazine postage & admin charges gave my debit card details and then was told how much the subscription was and told the girl that there was no way I could afford that, she told me once she had taken my debit card details there was nothing she could do but there was a 14 days cooling off period and if I rang in the cooling off period nothing would be taken out. This I did but couldn't speak to any one left a message on the answer machine to say I didn't want to go ahead wth the magazine. On December the money was taken out of my account two attemps were made 1st was 3rd December and the 2nd whch was successful on December 23rd.Cancelled my card as I thought it had been cloned. Did speak to a young girl called Bethan who said she would arrange a refund but it would take 28 days or perhaps a little less. Have been trying to ring the company  didn't speak to anyone only an answer machine or a recorded message " Your call cannot be completed please call back later"

    I also worked for them for a week and they still haven't paid me for the week I was working their and i need a contact number if you got it so I can complain of you got it can you please reply with the number that I can ring them on :)
