- purpleblue replies to Mandy| 1 replyas far as i know, receiving call from home country while in oversea will lead to u being charged international call. as far as the caller's side is concern, they are only being charged on local call rate.
meaning, his/her phone to your phone = local rate applicable to him/her, u answering the call = international/roaming rate applicable to u.
the caller will never be charged/penalized because of the location of the receiver unless he/she is dialing an oversea phone number. - purpleblue replies to purpleblueby the way, i got a few miss call from 03-7849 1000 also. didn't manage to answer any of the call.
from all the post in this site, seems like this number belongs to some telemarketing company that provide services to other company (such as banks, insurance, bonuslink and so on) and help them market their product. and believe me, people who work in this kind of company (call centre) is... ehem... may be not all, but a lot of them are school leaver, so, they practically do not know tele-etique. all they care is, get u on the phone, talk to u about their product (client's) and get the job done, and receive commission (may be) from that.
and, this number most probably is just a hunting line. that's why it is not answered most of the time when we return the call to this number. - FaridJust revceived a call from 0378491000 and when answer the call, the caller cut off the connection....4-5 days ago, this number was make a call to my HP number 2 times...

- Lee03-78491000.... this was a call from prudential. Tried to sell me medical insurance and said that they offer this to selected Standard Chartered card holders. hmmm.. I listened to the entire pitch and they seemed genuine but except for 1 funny question - the caller asked if my card was active. So it could possibly be a scam but i don't know what was the purpose.

and the weird thing is...they called my maxis number too ... =.=" maxis giving them our number or what? - lizaI pun baru dapat call dari no. ni 78491300. Namanya syikin dan dia kata "Sebagai salah seorang pelanggan standard chartered bank, cik sangat bertuah kerana terpilih untuk mendapat promosi life prudential insurans. Plan untuk promosi ini adalah rm73/month, dan bla...bla...bla... ", and lastly, disebabkan I takde credit card, dia nak minta no account standard chartered bank pula sebab nak buat pemotongan melalui saving a/c. dan black & white doc. pula dia akan hantar melalui pos.
Boleh ke I bagi no. a/c via phone tanpa face to face dengan dia? Ada sesiapa yang experience dalam hal ini?
Thank you.- Caller: forget
- Very Annoying| 1 replyI just got a call from this number too, minutes ago. Annoyingly, they know my full name, house phone & hand phone no etc and asked me to subscribe to their insurance product via a particular bank's credit card facility. Such info I suspect (no prior permission was given by me), was unethically sold/shared by my bank to Allianz Insurance, whom thereafter outsourced the marketing job to Symphony BPO (http://www.symphony.com.my/) who has a contact centre in PJ. (Hmm....should I complain to BNM or Public Complaints Bureau? Would it be effective in this Bolehland?) And this is not my first experience either. So, BNM should already know of such "dirty" practices of the banking/insurance industry, long long time ago. What is BNM going to do about it?
I still remember when I joined a local bank some 13 yrs ago, I was made to sign some non-disclosure documents. I was obligated by law not to reveal any personal/banking info to a 3rd party or another customer (not even to customer's spouse). Now, the finance companies themselves are breaking such rules. How ironic.
As governed under the BAFIA, banks should endeavor to protect their customers' info at all times. Selling/Sharing info to 3rd party is not only unethical but should strictly be made unlawful by the relevant authorities, and it makes the bank looks like an accomplice of spammers with poor integrity/credibility. If they want to market more products to me, do it more discreetly. By all means, send by snail mail or email. Don't ask a stranger (who knows my profile while I don't know his/her profile) to do the sales pitch to me, on the phone. I feel my privacy has been encroached.
I'm contemplating to cancel my business relationship with that bank. I'm looking for a bank who respects their customers, with strong integrity.
Any suggestion?- Caller: Citibank-Allianz Insurance c/o Symphony BPO
