I received the same caller as you guys. An Indian guy looking for a person name Yap Sil Mun. Definitely not me and I asked calling from where. This guy said from GE insurance. After reading all these comments, definitely a scam call. Ignored it if call again.

I'd just got the same call asking for Unicef donation.
But I think this is most likely from a BPO representing UNICEF.

I also received missed call frm the stated no. just now twice. call back engaged. Luckyly i check this no thru google. After reading all the comments, I suspect this caller just wanted your particular especially your credit cards no. for monthly deduction for charity. Later they will miss use your information..  There are now a lot of this telemarketter calling people, getting them to join or enrol in. They are very professional in persuading you without you knowing they already got your credit cards no. BEWARE OF THIS KIND OF NEW SCAM.

I really do not like this kind of method of telemarketing. get people information thru phone to enrol/buy  something that you are not giving a time to think about first...

Received call from this no. Saying that I'm one of the selected Citibank card holder to receive a new type of insurance (How come I always been selected..?). To pay monthly RM 190 to receive some hospitalization benefits and so on. Claimed that they are from AXA Affin insurance works hand in hand with Citibank.

In general, i think all of us who received calls from either 03-78491000 or 03-78491300 shared the same experience.. None of us managed to talk to the other party when we tried to return our calls (lines busy or not able to get through) Conclusion, we are at the bright side and the other party is at the dark side. Let's not to be fooled on this.. Whenener you receive calls from those number again, p/s reject the call.

I was reading all of the above while getting the call from this number (thank God for internet!) It's the same as one of you; telling me that if i signup CPP today for RM98 per annum i'm eligible for an instant 300 points from Bonuslink.

    1. Yes, they have all our information (phone numbers, address, full name, etc) <-- scary ain't it?

    2. They don't have our I/C number and Credit Card numbers <-- phew

    3. I guess they really are in effect BPO telemarketer; since one of you were told it was from prudential, the other allianz, and in my case CPP <www.cppasia.com>

And what did I decided in the end? I said YES to that telemarketer. Why?

    1. He has valid reason to actually call me up and close the deal on the phone; the CCPAsia HQ is in Hong Kong (that's why I can't make a walk-in registration)

    1. Because he cared to explain painstakingly everything to me

    2. He told me firsthand that he actually has all of those information and won't require me to actually dictate them one-by-one through the phone. Simply put, he just need my validation (and IC and card number) and I value convenience =)

    3. He understand the risk that I am taking, and reassures me that he won't ask for my Credit Card information such as Expiry Date, the 3-digit at the back of the card, name, etc. He just need the 16 digits on the front side of the card. He even suggested that I used my Debit card if I have one (and so I did!)

As pointed out by some of you, yes, the telemarketers are mostly school drop-outs. As such, they are inept for being patient or tactful. Lucky me I got a good one; he really understand the idea of respect.

The bottomline is: yes, our banks do solicit our information third party. But my guess is it's not the Bank's fault but the scheme of some of the bad apples in the company.

Will update if the supposed transactions go wrong (or if I did not get my Bonuslink points! :P)

don't you idiots read the whole thing? no it's not a scam. the calls are made from a call center. most large banks and insurance companies outsource their telemarketing to this call center. and they also hire idiots to make these calls.
what do you get when idiots talk to idiots?
