receive this number with no answer and when called it has a disconnected dial tone

I regularly get calls from "Telstra" offering me good discounts but I know they are hoax calls so I keep asking them questions. I've had two of these calls tonight, the lady couldn't handle my questions so just hung up but the man got smart when I asked what his phone no, was. He gave me a number then hung up and surprise, surprise, when I phoned it, it was a private number in my local town. I felt terrible for worrying the lady but had to prove a point. I would love to stop getting these calls, I'm an aged pensioner and I think they pick on us.
