TAPA is a scam. A group of the fake advertising companies set it up in 2007, charge a monthly fee, and in return you are not called by them. There was a third - all about 3/4 years ago now but can't remember their name. If I do, I'll look them up. Probably dissolved like the two above. Presumably they went onto to set up TAPA who were founded at about the same time. Anyone know the parent company for TAPA? Seems just to be a trading name.

I was just wondering how you have got on with TAPA?  I have been contacted today by Patrick he is trying to convince me to pay them a monthly amount to stop receiving calls and deal with an advertising company that is hassling me.  Trading Standards have told me to ignore all communication no matter how threatening it gets.

Hi, my husband and I are also experiencing problems with TAPA, we didn't realise that they charge a montly fee and can't really afford it so I sent them a cancellation letter to their London address returning all the literature that they sent us at the same time (recorded delivery) but we are still being harrassed by Chris Irvine to pay up saying that we didn't cancel in time ie seven working days from the date on the contract.  I have contacted the Office of Fair Trading and they say that under the Distance Selling Regulations we have seven working days from the date the letter was received which is as far as I am concerned we covered ie it came on 8th Aug and was returned on 10th.  He called again today demanding payment but we were out so he left a message to ring him back which I tried but was kept waiting for about 7 minutes so I hung up.  Will contact Office of Fair Trading again if we keep getting hassle from them. The date on our contract was the 2nd of August.

Tapa take your money then make a complaint on your behalf to trading standards, something you can do yourself for free.

Like a plank I signed up for TAPA not realising I had to pay anything, few days later had a call asking for money, I refused to a pay and they threatened me with the small claims court. I took legal advice and was assured that if I cancelled within 7 working days I was not liable. The company said it was 7 days not working days so I was still liable. I emailed to request cancellation and sent a letter by DHL at great expense to cancel to the London address.
I am reassured to see that it is a total scam and if they ring back and threaten me with court I will be happy to go!!!

I could go on digging but if you have not realised by now that TAPA is a scam by now or The advertising protection agency is a scam, then what can I say “There’s one born every minute”

If any nice person wants to find out who the share holders on companies house named above and do some digging there place it here and use the rest of my document to spread the word about this con man Mr Anthony Simister. The officer are only listed here but its the share holders who may run the company’s aswell, no doubt they’ll be linked to scam companies. Oh and if your reading this and are a member of any other forum please repost this or point people to this thread.

While I think on the if there are innocent Businesses on TAPAs web site (ok some may be a bit doggy), who think that tapa are a legitimate government body need to Think again and take action!  Contact trading standards and report them!!

I had the old non stop contact from a company, looked on net at their number and oh dear it linked to TAPA. I signed up online with no mention any where I had to pay!
Just over a week later I had a call, demanded money and said I entered into a contract!! I had had no paperwork from them in any way.
Feeling it a scam I checked them on google and yes, bad news. I sent a letter to cancel all and then reported them to Trading Standards and the local Police, surprise... its a fraud.
Pay them nothing.... and I too am looking forward to my day in court.

I had exactly the same thing. Signed up on line thinking it was free as no mention of a fee. Got an info pack with an invoice but I didn`t read the small print - it is really small and faded. Thought as I`d not agreed to pay I would ignore it. Got a phone call yesterday from a very aggressive man saying I owed money. After a while I hung up. I`ll be joining you all in court as they`re not getting a penny off me!

call your bank inform them that tapa or the advertising protection agency have frauded you of your money by selling you fresh air and demand that your money be charged back to your card I have just done this and got my money back. The banks fraud investigation unit are now looking into them.

I have reported them to trading standards, action fraud and the police!!!!

I have been having problems with a advertising company called EML placed one advert with them for £108 and was conned into thinking that I had agreed to another for £114.  Few weeks later they contacted me again trying to advise that I had agreed to another advert to which I told them to get lost.  I had been having quite a few phone calls from various advertising companies advising that I had agreed to place adverts with them to which I rejected all claims.  I came across TAPA online and telephoned them as it appeared from their website that they were some sort of government organisation but later found out this was not the case.  I had a so called investigations officer keep me on the phone for over an hour advising that I would receive constant harassment from advert companies and would have my recorded phone calls edited before going to court etc etc.  They told me that they can prevent all this all for a fee of £68+ Vat & £8.62+Vat per month I told them I would think about it. Something did not just ring true  The following morning received a phone call from TAPA to which I informed I do not want to go ahead at the moment and am seeking advice off a Solicitor they informed that they do not recommend that i contact a Solicitor or OFT can you believe it.  Also they informed that they could not help me now if I received any Court Summons.  I said that is fine I will risk it and bingo 15 Minutes later I had a phone call from a Scottish Guy who advised that he was from a debt collector and a Court Summons was being issued to me because I had not paid Media Solutions an outstanding debt.  I have never even hear of Media Solutions until today.  I challenged the caller and told him I knew he was part of a Scam and he hung up and guess what the number was withheld.  The best way to deal with these reptiles are to contact the Action Fraud which is a government advice line they will lodge a complaint and pass onto Police on your behalf and also Consumer Direct give me lots of advice on how to get any monies paid to bogus advertising companies back just do a simple charge back via your bank or credit card company and hey guess what TAPA does not recommend trying chargebacks they said the banks won't do it they are talking [***].  

DO NOT CONTACT TAPA THEY ARE CRIMINALS. RING OFT' OR ACTION FRAUD, CONSUMER DIRECT OR TRADING STANDARDS THEY WILL HELP YOU.

Hi there I phoned tapa to get advise on a dodgy company and before I knew it the fella on the phone had me signed up with them and after managing to cancel the first dodgy company I rang tapa up to cancel the order and was told it was canceled a month later I was contacted by someone by the name of Anthony Raine demanding the full years money I told him I had canceled the order and he said I couldn't cancel by phone it was supposed to be canceled by writing in and demanded money on the same day and sent me bank details to put the money in or he would take me to court I haven't paid and am getting calls every few weeks by different people all demanding me to pay how do you think I can get them to stop I would appreciate any advice thanks
