- JohnnyI have recieved several calls from this number. If it is HSBC why are they trying to contact me, I don't have any HSBC accounts?
- Rabid Receptonist replies to AnonymousHey Anon I can assure you, that people like you are why people like us prefer to not give details over the phone, it must be nice to feel so superior.
- Mrs JoesphActually quite surprised by this. It was the bank, and it was helpful. I was very nervous in answering the call, and also being asked security questions, but they were inoffensive enough that my curiosity got the better of me and i'm glad it did. The welsh gent i spoke to was very informative, kind and professional and helped my business. I've saved the number now so I can answer again if the call. Thanks HSBC (wow i never thought i'd say that!!).

- ConkerI've just had a call (or should I say another call!!) from this no. The lady was called Nicola and said it was a Service Call and just wanted to go through a few Security details bfore continuing. At that point I said I don't give that sort of info. out on the phone and she then asked me to call in at my branch tomorrow instead.
I think it's bad practice for banks to do this sort of cold calling when there are so many fraudulent people doing this. I shall be complaining tomorrow morinng at the bank.- Caller: HSBC
- TomThey say they are HSBC. Keeps pestering me, phoning every few days. They ask for Bank ID security details. I wouldn't ever give that out to someone who randomly phones me from an unknown number. Slightly dodgy, I would say.
- Caller: HSBC possibly
- rahimI received a call from HSBC which I could not take. I am awaiting a response for a decision on my mortgage. Got a voice message to call back
- Caller: HSBC
- dbcoolhullI keep getting a call from this number, I don't have any accounts with HSBC or any other dealings!!!
- Zubi Sam replies to KatieHi
They just wanted to get some feedback regarding your experience of HSBC banking service. - OzCalled saying they are HSBC asking for bank details for data protection act and so on ... I didn't gave any information I told them I work for MI6 and I knew where they were calling from. Woman got scared and hanged up. All the people here saying it is HSBC calling , they are part of the scam too. Be aware!!!
- Caller: Scam
- Adam replies to AnonymousAs consumers we are told day in day out not to give security details over the phone to unknown callers.
Your experience should tell you a lot about the fear people have about scamming and identity thieft. And because of the repeated warnings, consumers are rightly cautious.
The issue, therefore, is not how difficult customers are when asked for security details but the process invented by the corporations on the exchange of security details.
Anyone who has suffered identity thieft and registered with the credit authority know that they will be asked a question when they apply for credit. The question is one the customer has made up and therefore they instantly know if the call is valid or not. Why do the banks and utilities not follow a similar process? This way a cautious consumer would ask you 'what is the security question' and categorically know your call is valid.
Don't blame the customer for a poor corporate process. - JalilI have had many calls lately from this number but have now blocked it.
- Caller: HSBC
- FatimMe too, no idea who they are
- Giarc replies to KatieThey aren't allowed to disclose full purpose of the call without verifying they are talking to the right person. Under data protection law whilst they represent the company they can be prosecuted directly. You should call them to find out why they called you on a number you know.
- Freida replies to quadropheniaThis is [***] as I too work for HSBC and if you check this is one of our numbers used to call customers if suspicious activity on the account is flagged or if it is noted they have trouble with PIN/Online banking and haven't contacted us with 48 hours it will flag to contact them!!
So wind your neck in and stop telling people [***]!! - PaulIf you call back it is a 48p per minute line, so do not call them back.
- petethis number keeps calling and no one their ban it ?? its a nascence
- Caller: hsbc
- C CA man called me and said he was from fault dept of HSBC and did security checking. When he started to ask me personal questions, I refused and he said I could call HSBC myself and quoted the reference number.
After the phone call, I found my card was locked and could not do any transactions in shops or online purchase. Then I called HSBC and found out the call was really made by them! They just quoted a few transactions recently to make sure it's done by myself to make sure my account was not used by others.- Caller: HSBC
- Master a/c replies to AJPwhen someone says they are from the bank and want details for security, I reply ( which Account are we talking about?) as I have several accounts with bank. Then they have to tell you, and then you have the upper hand and decide to continue the conversation. Most times I politely say thanks for the call and hang up.
