- Security clearance needed..oh, I hope they call me back now, I want to see what happens when I give them fake details! If they agree the fake ones are correct it would be conclusive proof I think!
- AnoyedI too have just had 2 very short missed calls from this number
- anonThey are NOT HSBC! They ask for your security details which HSBC would never do.
- RichardI got a call from this number saying they were HSBC and the reply I got when asking them questions like tell me which branch I bank at was "it will contravene data protection laws.”
They asked for verification of my date of birth I said have you got it in front of you, yes they said, then I said in that case tell me just the month then I will tell you the date & year. But this again “will contravene data protection laws.”
I asked what this courtesy call was roughly about…… “ we cant say it will contravene data protection laws.”
So even if it was really HSBC I wonder what they could have possibly told me after answering there questions - DIt is HSBC. I phoned telephone banking and he told me the time of the phone call from the marketing department. Agree with others though - my bank shouldn't be cold calling me.
- Caller: HSBC
- Anon-e-mouseHey Anonymous, I've just had one of these calls that is supposed to be "related specifically to me and could be important". Problem is, I left HSBC 3 years ago to go to a proper bank. It's probably you that tried to phone me. A tip for you - ring account holders who actually bank with HSBC you might get somewhere. ZING.
Anonumous wrote "Hey John, i can assure you it is a genuine number because i work for them!! and its people like you that make our job hell....d***head!!!And aint always a survey so watch it alot of times its something reletated specifically to the person we're calling and can be very important" - JanI was called today on my landline phone. I answered and said 'Hello?' but no-one replied so I just kept the line open, they hung up after about 30 seconds or so. Not very professional HSBC!
- Rich BI am a HSBC number and am always getting called by this number, it cycles every few months. Always just clear the call. Never had a single security related issue, problem or need for the bank to call me... in short it is cold calling sales!
- KDReceived a missed call from this number on my mobile today (25/03/09), I then received a call from HSBC in the evening requesting for verification details. I politely asked if it was related to fraudulent activity and said that if not, could they please contact me by post and I would then choose to communicate with them at a later date.
- Caller: HSBC
- NicI answered, it was HSBC. There was an important problem with my bank account. It is important to answer, however sh*t a system they have, as they look after your money!
Then complain in writing after they've sorted out any problems.- Caller: HSBC
- JoIf HSBC wants something from me, they should't call but write the letter.
- EmmaIn case anyone is worried it might actually be something important, if there is any problem with your account HSBC would call from 08457404404 -& as with all strange calls, if you're not sure then call back on a number you trust to check!
This sort of thing doesn't really bother me -I just added this number to my auto reject list... - Lyi ignored the phonecall, then they tried another 0800 number... what the hell with HSBC?!
- Caller: hsbc
- StephanieJust had a call from this number - they sais that it was HSBC and asked to confirm a few security details prior to discussing my services. When I said that as they called me I cannot be sure that they are who they say they are, they said they can send the information by post, which I agreed on. Quite happy with that!
- ROYI got a call from this no. today and was asked to tell my birth month. Though, they told me my birth date, still I refused to share any of my details. I had an account with them, but I have closed it. I would suggest to ignore these calls.
- Caller: HSBC
- NBI got a call from this number today. Like others- I was told it was a service call, but the lady started asking me to "complete" my security details- she would give me half and I needed to say the other half of the detail.
I refused, and rang HSBC. They confirmed that noone from HSBC tried to contact me today (from their log). I suggest hanging up also! - worriedjust had a call from this number, they claim to be HSBC, then asked for my security details, birth date etc; they would not tell me what it was about. So I said no thanks whatever it is and that I thought they were scamming me.....even if this is a real number, I think it is highly unethical to ask for security details on the phone.
- Caller: HSBC
- R MClaimed to be from HSBC.
Wanted security details. I told them that if there were who they said they were they could write to me on their company letter head. 15 days leter. no one has. Local office of HSBC know nothing about it.
So who were they really? - Bap McFrugalI just answered a call from this number. The lady identified herself as being from HSBC and asked if now was a convenient time for me to talk to her. When I asked her "what about?" she said she couldn't reveal this until after I had answered her security questions but that it was "nothing to worry about". I told her I would not answer any security questions by phone to which she simply replied "ok that's fine" and hung up!
- Caller: HSBC
- H NThey phoned today sayong they were from HSBC and wanted me to confirm my date of birth. I did then asked what it was about. They then asked for my postcode and i said i wouldn't give them anymore info unless they told me what it was about. They then said thanks for your time and hung up.
