- Frag888Someone called from this number today and said they were ringing from O2, I asked him to repeat the company name and he confirmed that it was O2, he then said that they found my number from the internet! He asked me several questions about my current contract, none of which I replied and then he asked if he could speak to anyone else in the house about offering a cheap deal.
- Caller: O2 (Allegedly)

- Linda replies to marcusI've just had a call and this company definitely claim to be 02. The caller asked me questions about my contract - my reply was - you should know that if you are 02 I then asked her not to ring again and she was very rude and most insistent that because she had my number from 02 records she would be able to ring. Hopefully I will get the same caller if they do phone again because I have some very rude words I would like to say to her.
- Anoyed @.comseveral of similar numbers have been cold calling for weeks when will they get the message i don t pick up too numbers i dont know ....
- Call type: Prank
- DamonJust had a call from this number. Claimed to be from O2 and asked whether there was anything they could offer as a better term. When I told the guy that I was already in a contract with them (I migrated to them a couple months back) he claimed "there's nothing in the database for you there". I knew full well that this contract is in my fiancées name so by addressing me directly told me that it was a cold call. I straight up asked whether he really was calling from O2 - simply requiring a yes or no answer - to which the reply was "I don't know if I should answer that question or not"
Felt that I should no longer continue speaking to him, given he couldn't tell me where he was actually calling from.- Caller: Apparently O2
- Call type: Telemarketer

- SylvI received a call from this number yet again. I didn't answer but did a search on goggle to find out who it is. Turns out it's O2. I have never been with O2 and never will.
I have just today found Telephone Preference Service and registered my three numbers with them to stop nuisance calls, it will take 28 days to completely stop but if it doesn't then you can either email them direct or there is an address to contact as this is ILLEGAL- Caller: O2

- LBM workerAfter reading the majority of these comments I personally feel I need to defend the people that are doing this 'cold calling' for a living, myself included. Not one of the numbers that are dialed are personal, we don't look up a number and type them in to harass you. We work off a database which dials numbers every 30 seconds under no control of ourselves, unless we pause to break. It also gives us the option to disposition a call to however it ended. If you don't answer we disposition it as 'answer machine' therefore making it recycle round to be called again by someone else in the call centre. If you answer the phone and say politely to have your number removed, there is an option to have the number suppressed from future calling.
I am a young girl just finding my way in the world and this is the only job I could get in the current climate that feeds me and my daughter and keeps a roof over my head. I'm not sure what everyone does for a living, but I'm pretty sure that if you were told to f*** off on a daily basis you would be a bit peeved also.
We are told by our superiors to 'objection handle'. Example: I'm busy - I understand that but I will only keep you 2 minutes'
All calls are recorded, if we are not seen to be doing this we can lose our job and end up on job seekers.
All I ask is to not answer the call guns blazing and abuse the adviser because they are human beings too.
And yes we are calling on behalf of O2, the company itself buys data from clients which are O2, giff gaff, Vodafone, t mobile, tesco, Virgin, ee/orange etc. maybe you should contact your actual provider and see if you can suppress your number from being passed on.
I can't speak for the rest of the advisers in the business but I ask questions to the customer genuinely trying to see if I can save them money, not to con people! If I cant do a better deal, I let the customer go.
Also in regards to data protection, if you are on O2 we have a separate web page to enter the mobile number into to see whether you are with O2, it has details such as name, address, whether you are contract or payg, and how much you are using. For data protection purposes we am have to ask for full name and postcode before we discuss any of the details in the account because we could be speaking to anyone also. If we phoned someone and started talking about your account without asking to confirm you wouldn't be too happy, so it initially for the customers benefit. And I wouldn't risk loosing my job just to prove I am who I say I am, because there really is no way to prove unless you confirm details.
I apologise for going on a bit but I hope this will give you all an insight f how it is on the other end of the phone.- Call type: Telemarketer
