Had 28 calls in the past two days! Day one: 10 calls, the final four were one after the other at 9.59pm.
Day two: 2 calls at 5.59pm then 16 consecutive calls from 7.59pm until I disconnected the phone for the rest of the evening.
Spoke to my local Nationwide branch after day one who admitted it was one of their numbers, but they had no record of them contacting me. Said I would close my accounts with them if it happened again. Day two I was stroppy by the time I disconnected the phone. Sometimes just one ring then they hang up, other times we would pick up after four rings. My son picked up twice to hear a man say, "Sorry, wrong number", but on all other occasions the line was silent. Spoke to Head Office today who has now removed my phone number from their database, so fingers crossed. I'm guessing there is either a fault or something suspicious, so I will give Nationwide the benefit of the doubt at the moment. If I get another evening of persistent calls tonight I'm closing my accounts tomorrow.
Dialled 1471 every 3rd call or so, so def the 0800 number every time.

This number covers all nationwide departments I think. i was called by a company called KPR which is a subsidury of nationwide, just because i was behind on my credit card by a few weeks. genuine number though

Just got a call on my mobile and it stopped after two rings.  I have no account with NW and have no debts so they'd better be careful if they cal me again

i think mine is regarding a job interview aswell however i missed the call as i was at work. who did you call to find out the nature of the call???

Caller ID proves nothing, not even if you get it from 1471. It can easily be spoofed, whereas properly configured email can be traced by to the sender. NEVER answer bank "security questions" if they initiate the call.

This number keeps ringing our house, and mobile, but leaves no message, and they are driving me crazy.   I am going to write them a harrassment letter and tell them that I am reporting them to the police.

Got a call from this number. Answered it and could hear people in the background but then it went silent so i hung up. I do have a nationwide mortgage but have not contacted them at all so why are they ringing me??

Missed a call from them while I was in a meeting, as Peter T says when called back there is a recording telling you Nationwide called and they will call back later.

Nationwide Building Society - called regarding question on an account change.  Legitimate call.

It is in fact Natiowide Security and I called it when I had my card stolen. They were very good, stopped the card immediately and arranged a new card which arrived by post 6 days later.

Genuine number for Nationwide Building Society. This is a generic number so could be anyone from them ringing you.

Had this number 5 times in 2 hours but didn't know it so didn't answer their call. When they talked to my answerphone it was only a very dumb "Hello", male and female voice, with no reference to a company, name or reason. Totally unprofessional!!!
