Report a phone call from 08-0044-4231 and help to identify who and why is calling from this number.
- sarahpopple replies to Whistle |Blowerthere is no fee to register with TPS, and you have to redo it.... it's not a one registered forever stopped... well it never used to be anyhow. might be worth checking. TPS only works with UK call centres too. If they are outside the UK then you won't stop them.
- RichardRang a few minutes ago on my mobile phone. I didn't answer. I don't respond to 0800 numbers.
- j bensonStop=stop=stop.
- peeved D&G recipientI'm also ex-directory and on TPS (which doesn't filter silent and abandonned calls anyway) and I'm very careful with tickboxes. I've been getting 1 or 2 calls a day from this bunch for over a month and I always let it go to answerphone, not that anyone leaves a message. So I called the number 0800444232, given in the earlier post, just now. I got a very feint voice message and long-winded instructions to leave my name, then wait for a tone, then leave my phone number and wait for a tone, then my postcode. It said if I didn't follow those instructions my request could not be dealt with. I listened for the tone, I left my name and waited, but no further tone audible. Then a voice message said I had to continue with my message or I would be cut off, so I gave the other two pieces of information without waiting for a tone. I spoke very clearly, and slowly, and told them to stop calling immediately (the voice message says it may take 30 days - rubbish!) before I hung up. We shall see. Clock is ticking. I've reported them to Ofcom anyway as they are keen to hear about this sort of thing.

- JohnTold them repeatedly who they ask for has never lived at this address and to remove this number from their database, no wonder they cannot get a proper job. Telephone harassment is now out of hand.

I've told them if it continues I would close my account & what happens they call me again this morning. So peed of I told them I will be cancelling today. - DIANNE GARBETTThis number, I believe, is from Domestic and General. They got through to be about three weeks ago and wanted me to take out insurance for my gas hob. They wanted my bank details and I refused to give them and asked him to write to me if he wanted my custom. He then cut the call short. I then rang this number and was told it was Domestic and General Insurance Company and the number was legal. I said that the caller was not very business-like. Half of the time I couldn't understand his broad accent. The operator then told me again that the call was legal. I told her I did not conduct business over the phone with complete strangers.

- Matt H replies to Whistle |BlowerJust be careful doing that, as if you cause te person on the end of the line hearing damage (which can happen if the person is using a headset) you could be liable for criminal assault charges. Best thing to do is mention you're registered with TPS and that if they persist in calling you they are breaking UK law.
- ECall at lunchtime today. When I answered they cut off and only using 1471 did I find out who they were. Since I am Ex-Directory I wonder from where they got my number
