These people have called me 7 times this evening.  Each time, the call goes silent as soon as I have picked up the phone but on the last call, a crazy American woman was talking in a very high pitch voice (....you know how they sound) that was so painful I hung up the call.  Capital One are very well known for their nusience calls and if i'm not mistaken, they have been fined many times for silebt calls.  The company has no idea of what customer care is and is just out to make yuor life hell.  Do what I do... Pick up the call then hang up straight after, their system them thinks you've spoken to one of their idiots and all of a sudden your phone goes quiet again.

Yea capital one that is they are a fcuking nightmare they call me 6-7 times a day!!!! Does my head in mun!!!!

just got a call they asked for my husband i asked who is calling....so ans so from capital one told them sorry he aint here...ok put phone back on charger 3 seconds later phone rang again same message but from a guy wots wrong wi these clowns a said very rudely av just had a bloody call from use lot and am sick of the calls 5 6 times aday!!!!!they woke up my wee boy who was takin a nap no happy likes...me and my husband like a lot of people are very wary about giving details  esp personal and private info over a phone,,,,there are so many scams ect out there cant trust no one that calls asking for info.....a wish they would stop calling all day why dont they send a letter out,,they used to do that now they call everyday it makes u think

I have a solution-call your service provider and ask if they offer call-blocking. If the calls are coming to your cellphone and it runs apps, you might already have one and not even know it. In that case, check your screen for an app market, click on it, and do a search. Then add your annoying caller(s) number(s) in the spaces provided and follow the prompts.

It's very possible that these people are not who they say they are, and are spoofing their number on your caller ID to hide their true identity. Their behavior is very unprofessional, and no company would resort to these tactics if it wanted to stay in business. There are a lot of bill collectors of this type running scams, and a lot of complaints on whocallsme about them.  Report them to www.IC3.gov. They are conducting an investigation.

I have had the same constant calls for weeks now, sinc November 11 in fact. Driving me nuts, I managed to speak to someone in the end, it turns out my son applied for a credit card with them; but no longer requires one as mummy has bailed him out yet again. I told them he doesn't want a card, don't call this number again, this is my number and I pay the bills, not my son. They told me they would take me off their call list; but the very next day the calls continued as usual. Don't know what else I can do. My son has also spoken to them and has told them he no longer wants a credit card. Anyone got any suggestions? PLEASE!

Yes, its crapital one.  I have paid off my arrears and am back under my limit but they still keep calling!!! GO AWAY, I DONT OWE YOU ANY MONEY YOU A***HOLES!!!!!

Capital One - Tried to call me even when I've agreed just the previous week to pay this months due payment together with next months direct debit instead, this was logged on their system - so they are making unnecessary phone calls

Yh... since we got issued a new phone number (EX-DIRECTORY, might I add!) we've been getting at least two or three calls a day for a "Sarah Mason" (*Blatant* Info Solicitiation Attempt No.1).

At first we ignored them, but then we started answering the calls, telling them that "this person doesn't live here" and "no, this phone number is NOT registered at Edwards Rd" (*Blatant* Info Solicitiation Attempt No.2), finally requesting that they remove this number from their records...

...only for them to start their harassment afresh the next day!

Enough. Is. Enough!

Capital One- I paid them £20 which I was told would stop them calling; it didn't.  Essentially direct debit didn't go through for January, I can pay it but it won't make any difference as the February dd will still be twice as much?  Asked me for more money which would not change the situation at all, feb dd would still be the same?  Furious is not the word.  I'm beginning to think there is some dodginess within the overseas call centre.

I have exactly the same problem- I've kicked off big style today- I can pay extra but it won't change my dd being twice as much next month?  Could not see I had paid £20 to stop them calling me?  Well dodgy.

Register with the TPS.http://www.mpsonline.org.uk/tps/index.html  As you are not a customer, if they call you whilst registered it would be a breach and they can be fined.

Can I stop these irritating phone calls?

I think it is Barclays Bank who keep calling me on this number, but I do not owe them, or anyone else money.
It sounds like a tape recording, so not sure the whistle would work.  Anyone got other ideas?

No its  not, its only illegal if hey say they are calling about a debt but can just ask for you by name and say who they are.

These people started calling me a couple of days ago.  They don't answer when I say 'hello', but hang up. Strange behaviour.  Last call I said nothing, which was responded to with silence, then a hang up. I see from the webpage that linked to this one that others have had the experience cu of being rung by them and have identified the callers as being from Capital One.  I wouldn't know for certain but it makes sense as I do have a credit card with them. All very strange and I'm now wondering as I've made a few complaints about their customer service if they have some kind of bullying unit to discourage people from complaining. I rang the number back from a payphone, got an automated customer service message followed by...absolute silence. Nothing. Bizarre way of debt collecting if you say nothing when the target answers! Still, Capital One certainly don't strike me as the sharpest tools in the box.  Incidentally I left the phone receiver off the hook, so presumeably that could tie up a line until it's disconnected
