Nationwide Satellite Services - Jamie replies to PeterIn reply to the above then why do you totally ignore TPS users who do not wish to be called? And why do you use Indian call centres to gather information for you to use while cold calling, which just adds to people being harrased further?
Sorry but i dont believe a word you are saying,it is a scam. - sparky| 2 repliesI've just this moment had a call from 08007797444 but did not pick up the phone as I have caller identity. Having read the comments on this site I obviously made the right decision, however, yesterday afternoon I had a call from 09 1562. This one was from an Indian sounding lady who obviously had my name and address and among the question she asked, she was doing a survey, was whether I had Sky television. When I confirmed that I had she then asked if I had a mortgage, at this point I simply said 'thanks but no thanks' and put the phone down.
What I have read here leads me to think that yesterday's call was a fishing exercise prior to today's call! - Peter replies to sparky| 1 replyWe are supplied data from Third Parties Companies which complies with the TPS and we are also registered for Data Protection purposes. These companies contact customers to research their current supply of products and services, these include warranties. In light of the difficulties of the current economic climate, we offer warranty cover thats comprehensive at market leading rates. This means that the vast majority of the customers that are switching to us are making real savings.
As previously mentioned, I apologise if you have been called and do not have SKY. Please contact me on 0800 779 7444 or email me on peter.king@natsatserv.co.uk with you details and we will remove your information from our database, to ensure you will not receive any future calls. - Jamie replies to PeterI noticed you avoided my question......are these companies Indian call centres that you use to obtain information? And isnt that just a clever trick to bypass the UK TPS rules as there is no way to block them?Would be very interested to have your reply on that.

When questioned was truthful about not being my current insurer but I had to ask. When they realised that I have broadband as well he was gone like a shot. I suspect that they are offering a real service but would have liked a straight conversation that they wanted to offer me a new policy as a different competitor company. A bit duplicitous and I am concerned this is the second similar contact recently.

- Unhappy Customer| 1 replyI had a call from Elite Sky Repairs who told me they were sky and I fell for it and they took more money than they agreed, I even asked if they were sky and they just said yes, this is very misleading and I even called them and quote Trades description act 1968 because they mislead me but still I am waiting for my money back I think the way they conduct their business is an outrage. Also I would like to know why it is that Elite hasn't just changed its telephone number but on checking companies house details their name was changed to "Big Warranties" on 10 November 2010, so must have been trouble with the FSA or something like that to make a change that big. Please stay clear of this company I have learnt my lesson now

- Steve 1958 replies to Unhappy CustomerI had a call from Nationwide Satellite Services and spoke to a chap called Jack. I already had a cover plan with what I thought was Sky but he explained that this was not Sky it was just a independent insurance company called Domestic & General who pay Sky to recommend them which is why their prices are so high. He went on to tell me that the engineers are just self employed and there is a high chance that I would receive exactly the same engineer from their company to fix the Sky if something went wrong, he also told me that with Sky Protect they provide you with a 0845 number which can be very expensive to call which I agreed with him. To cut a long story short I decided to take a chance as he seemed genuine, the paper work arrived a few days later as stated and after reading through the terms and conditions everything matched up with what he told me. I have to say so far so good although I have not had to call them with a problem yet so fingers crossed and hope I don't end up eating my words.
- Jethro| 1 replyReceived a call from Nationwide Satellite Services in Bournemouth claiming to save me money on cover. Quoted £8 per month which is way more than I currently pay; then reduced this to £6.50 which again is more than current provider. Caller then told me that NatSatServ are regulated by FSA and explained that this is important if the company goes into "liquidisation" (sic) as system cover will continue. I questioned the point of such regulation unless they were providing financial advice and asked how the FSA underwrites a company's commitments when in administration and she was lost. To be fair she was polite and clear throughout the conversation.
Having read the previous comments, I am concerned that this firm is using an arbitrary term to confer a "regulated status" upon its activities when in fact it is selling a service that is more expensive than existing market rates.
I share the views expressed by others and can only conclude that some desperate measures are being applied to their marketing efforts.- Caller: Nationwide Satellite Services

- dan wSo many idiots posting in this forum that dont have the first clue about companies like this, and need to learn a bit about how COMPETITION works.
I see so many people here that were obviously complete [***] down the phone to the person calling them, and then seem to wander why the hell they had a similar attitude coming back to them. I once worked for a similar company (SRS) on the sales team, and theres nothing worse when just doing your job you have some old fart with an attitude giving you a hard time. I had one guy blow a whistle down the phone once to try and damage my ears! If you are a prick to me, i will be a prick to you but never before.
People WITH the cover will in 9/10 cases be paying more than what elite does the policy for, so by switching over you ARE saving money, and they are FSA regulated clearly, and will always have to honor the agreement by law or potentially loose their underwriters.
In short all I see posting here are stupid people that dont know their [***] from their elbow. - dan w replies to JethroCaller then told me that NatSatServ are regulated by FSA and explained that this is important if the company goes into "liquidisation" (sic) as system cover will continue.
This is true, the underwriters will carry on the cover. That is the reason underwriters exist, simply for the customers peace of mind in that they trust the company that they underwrite enough, to say we will cover this end of the deal. - fed up with sales calls| 1 replyMy husband took a call from this 0800 779 7444 this evening while I was out for 10 minutes. Gave him some story about being able to save us money on the cover we have just now for our Sky dish. As the Sky subscription is in my name I'm surprised they spoke to him. They convinced him to take out cover at £7.00 per month. When I called them half an hour later to cancel, I was told it couldnt be cancelled over the phone and we'd need to wait up to 14 days for the paperwork to come out, then my husband would need to write a letter back to cancel the agreement . This company is a total joke. avoid at all costs
