Thank you for your reply.I have already contacted your staff and
requested my details be removed from your data base. You seem to have
conveniently missed the point I was contacted by your staff stating I
was over paying by £2.50 per month for Sky equipment.I do not have
cover and  never have (this is my choice)  Your
staff member was insistent that I gave her my full bank account card
details to set up a direct debit for £7.50 per month ,and I should
cancel the £9.50 direct debit that does not exist! That is the issue
and this is what is deceitful reputable companies do not "insist" on
bank account details being passed over the phone, nor do they demand! to
know why you are not comfortable passing your details over.
It is very interesting to note ,at no point in your email have you
acknowledged my concerns or displeasure at your methods. This indicates
a lacking in your part  of basic customer care.Sadly all your  Internet
postings would appear to be founded .Regardless of the service you
offer your means of procuring business  are dishonest. It is interesting
you are requesting a £10 fee from me before you  pass on any
information.I will also post my concerns on the Internet

    Disgusted ! I

We run a business and so I have become fairly hardened to all these types of calls.
The chap was extremely determined to get our sky card number, but it became fairly evident that he never had the details of our Sky account as he did not record that we have a sky+ and an HD box.
He gave a return call number of 0800 7797444 AND an extension number of 113, (ask for Toby).
    Call came from 0207 183 9757.
Suggest that anybody who's racked off with these low life scumbags who make no valuable contribution to our society ring that number and place it on hold or ask them to hang on. They get really annoyed at that I'm led to believe. One Golden rule - NEVER EVER give any information out on the phone to unsolicited incoming phone calls. You can't go wrong that way.

Just had a call from a sky repairs.  Her name was Lisa Barlow and she convinced me that i was paying £8 mth for cover and that she could lower the price to £20 every quarter.  It was only when she asked for my card details that i made me think, i told her that my husband had my card.  I then rang sky and told them, they said that they are not associated with with number and not to comply if they ring again.

If im honest some people on here must actually be a little bit [***].

Having worked in the industry I know that Nationwide Sat Serv are 1 of many Sky repair companys. They are also fully FSA regulated, which means they have to act in a certain way as a business or they face closure.

Sattellite repairs is like any insurance, you would shop around to find the cheapest price surely?

What makes me laugh is the people who are calling them scams, you obviously have no valid intelligence or opinion so please sit down.

Yes sky reccomend sky protect, (who are actually not BSKYB but are infact a completly different 3rd part company known as domestic and general) but that is due to the 6figure sum paid to BSKYB each year for that reccomendation.

Its quite simple really, if you want an expensive cover then go to Sky Protect, If you want the same cover cheaper, in a lot of cases using the same sky-approved engineers that sky protect do, then shop around and use companys like Nationwide Sat.....

Just felt the need to comment here.
I have insurance with this company..... yes they called unsolicited, but the offer seemed genuine so I thought why not.
Today 22/10/11 I had to call with a problem with my sky+ HD box.
The call was answered within 5 mins (not too bad these days in my opinion)
The person on the other end of the phone was very helpful.... I  couldn't find any paperwork, but this wasn't a problem after a few checks.
More importantly though the depth of knowledge shown and the simple instructions given to solve the problem were excellent.

I know that there are numerous rip-offs available these days, but in my experience this isn't one of them.

Just received a sales call from a company called TV Protect, a subsidiary of BIG Warranties, in turn an Appointed Representative of Tobell Insurance, which is FSA registered.  TV Protect is offering TV insurance at £6.95 per month, for which you get telephone support+full in-home repair, and if repair cannot be done, full replacement up to a value of £500.  The call came from a London number (02071839757), but the Freephone contact number given by the salesperson is the same as for the other companies being discussed in this thread.  The sales call came off the back of a market research call in which I was asked about my TV, which is an ancient CRT model, too early even for widescreen.  This has not seemed to put TV Protect off - they are still happy to offer me the cover at £6.95 per month.  This sounds too good to be true: at £6.95 per month, it would take 6 years for my payments to reach the £500 mark.  Now, my TV is a 36" CRT - unlikely to be fixable in the event of a breakdown, so I'm assuming they would have to replace it with an equivalent flat-screen.  Of course, there's no guarantee that the replacement would be worth £500 - but as far as I can see, TV Protect is a genuine company.

I've just had a call from this organisation, even though they broke the law by ringing me,as I'm registered with the Telephone Preference Service.

After the call I checked out their number on the internet, and apart from your lone message Junket, there is nothing but loathing for this company.  I hope for your sake they are a genuine organisation but I have serious doubts on that count.  Why did you respond to a cold call?  If you were thinking of getting a TV warranty, surely it would have been better to have taken your time and done some research rather than take it out with a company you had never heard of before?

An idea would be to open a new savings account and set up a standing order to put in £7.00 per month. At least you'll know your money is safe, and if your old set last another three years, you should have enough set aside for a new TV.

This company is one of three which have taken money from an elderly friend for Sky warranties.  She lost her husband in February after nursing him for some months with terminal cancer.  Because of this and because she is a nice lady who believes what people on the 'phone tell her, whe has been conned out of about £100 per quarter. I only found out about this when visiting on Friday and noticing that whe was upset.  As she is also dislexic she was not ablle to read the paperwork sent to her easily and it was only when sorting through papers that she found out what had happened.  I have contacted CAB/Consumer Direct with the details of all the companies, one of them had set up two separate agreements, one in January and one in Spril, and they are passing details to the OFT and Trading Standards.  I also, at their suggestion, contacted Action Fraud, who will now liaise with the Police.  The interesting thing is that, whilst talking to her on Friday, yet another company rang, with the same con.  It looks like they pass round the names of vulnerable people.  Needless to say, I spoke to him and told him where to go.

I used to work for BIG Warranties, I am a moral person and would not work for a company who scam people, they are a appointed rep of Tobell Insurance services who are fully authorised and regulated by the FSA I know for a fact there calls are monitored internally as well as externally by a compliance team to make sure they are not misleading anyone as we had weekly compliance meetings and even if we avoided a question they would sometimes remove our commission, I received a weeks worth of training where they went through sales techniques and FSA compliance TCF (Treating customers fairly). From my understanding they used to offer Sky Insurance but no longer do that as it has a bad name. I can honestly say if they have contacted you or you have took out a policy you have no need to worry as they are defo a trustworthy company and actually pretty cheap.

My 80yr old aunt just had 2 very pushy phone calls from "BIG" trying to sell her TV insurance. It doesn't matter how many times you ring her, she will always say no. If she needs it, there are reputable companies available, without people stalking the vulnerable.

I have worked for a few insurance companies who handle insurance on sky in Bournemouth through out the years. which ones i have worked for are irrelevant because unless its home appliance guard the service all of them give isn't brilliant.

customers will always hear what they want to. unfortunately on the phone you don't pay proper attention and as soon as someone mentions sky you automatically assume that its sky.

also all of the agents you speak to are on a commission structure....why else do you think the job is so appealing? its because you can make good money from it! and it doesn't need a massive amount of skills to do!

the companies who are underwritten by a company who is regulated by the FSA (none of the companies are actually FSA regulated there all underwritten by someone who is regulated) then they will provide the service that you pay for......if you listen to them and ask don't assume you may get somewhere!

the ones that aren't FSA though i would be careful of as they normally end up being closed......

HOWEVER: all of it.....including the "sky protect" policy is a rip off.....if you tell sky your going to cancel if they don't fix your equipment then they will for free..........therefore meaning that you don't need sky insurance from anyone and even sky is ripping you off!!

    good day!
