Report a phone call from 08007797444 and help to identify who and why is calling from this number.
- Lesley replies to PeterOn Monday night I received a call from an Indian call centre, asking to confirm my contact details and whether I had a sky dish. I didn't confirm my details, and asked them quite a few questions about where they had obtained my details from. Unfortunately I found it very difficult to understand what the caller was saying, and this resulted in the superviser intervening.
On Tuesday night I received a call from this number, identifying themselves as Nationwide Satellite Services. They advised that I had a warranty at £7 per month which was due to expire (I don't). I was quite polite to the girl (Emma I think she was called) and advised that my number was TPS registered. She confirmed that she would suppress my details so I was not called again. I was satisfied with the outcome of this call.
Peter, the reason I am writing to you directly is because having done some research on your company (I can see you are registered with FSA, and hence my visit to this site) I feel you deserve a fair chance to offer your services to those who are interested. However, you do need to be aware of the marketing guidelines surrounding telesales calls. You mentioned in one of your responses that you bought lists which were TPS checked, however the responsibility for ensuring that you are not calling TPS numbers lies with your company (not the list supplier). Guidance from the Information Commissioner is clear - http://www.ico.gov.uk/upload/documents/librar ... v3.1_081007.pdf
Specifically they state "If you obtain a list of numbers where you are assured that the subscribers consent to receiving unsolicited marketing calls, you should make sure that the list is screened against the TPS and your own suppression list before making any telesales calls. If you buy or rent a list, regardless of the assurances you have been given, you will still breach the Regulations if you call a number that is listed on the TPS." Being in breach of the Regulations means that complaints may be made against you, and potential fines. If you were advised by your list supplier that their lists have been TPS checked, my experience confirms that information is incorrect, and you may wish to select another company to supply your lists or ensure that you TPS reference them yourself.
Kind regards - DaveHad what I suspect is 2 calls from these today although the first was a different number (01234567891), First call was a woman with some really strong accent that I just didn't recognise, Asked for a Mr Porter, Mr Porter has been dead for about 13 years now which I had to tell her about 4 times as she kept talking over me before hanging up on me. A few hours later another call, Man this time, English, Again asking for Mr Porter to which I replied "He's dead", Oh but it's Mrs Porter we wanted to speak to, Really then why first ask for Mr ???.
So, The [***] who have replied on here saying they are from these companies, [***] OFF, I don't care if it's your job to cold call people trying to sell [***] warranties, If I wanted one I would make enquiries about it myself, and the reason they are rude to us down the phone is beacuse their [***] little "jobs" probably only pay on commission so when the call doesn't go as they want it to they spit their dummy out.

- Vicky replies to jimAll you need to do to stop these kind of companies calling is tell them your number is TPS registered, if you are not registered, do it now on line its free, and meens any company cold calling you will get into trouble and have to pay fines etc if they continue to do so..
If you say this is a TPS registered number remove me from your database they are legally abliged to do so. I used to work in a call centre so know this to be true. You can also request a copy of the call. - jo bloggs replies to davidhaha you so work for them
- Nationwide Satelite servicesI think people should make their elderly neighbors aware of this number/ company as they are the poor people who fall for this kind of harsh selling.
They don’t care who they make money off as long as they get the card details on their first call.....
A way to tell if your being called by an automated calling system (call centre where the computer dials the numbers and staff just sit in front of a screen reading off your details when they appear)
Is that when you pick up and say hello, there will be a silent delay of a second or so before the person speaks.
If this happens just hang up before they speak, pr say you a re TPS registered and they have to remove you from their database.- Caller: V

- AnnieThis company also rang me yesterday, and told me that I was paying £8.99 per month for any repairs that I may need on my Sky account. I do not have a maintenance account with anyone, and as soon as I said this to the caller, he rang off.
On chekcing who the number 08007797444 belongs to, it Elite Sky Repairs, obviously a scam company, as they tried to pass themselves off as actually being SKY. Something needs to be done about companies liek this, as so many people are being ripped off by them.- Caller: Elite Sky Repairs
- Patricia maudling| 3 repliesI have just received a call from this number off a guy called Shaun Davidson. Couldn't hear him very well but said he could reduce my payments for sky repairs. Wanted to know who my bank was. I refused to tell him. He was very polite and I said I would ring him back in 30mins. After reading the comments on your web page Im not sure what to do. I wont give him any bank details though.
- Mermaidquay replies to Patricia maudlingThis is definitely a scam. A lady called Emma phoned me earlier today saying that she was from Sky. When she asked me how much I was paying for insurance on my Sky box I said I had insurance with
Domestic and General. She then said that they were part of that company and could reduce my monthly insurance. She then asked for my bank details. I said I would call her back. AfterW8X7 reading this forum I'm very glad I didn't. - Mermaidquay replies to Patricia maudlingThis is definitely a scam. A lady called Emma phoned me earlier today saying that she was from Sky. They read of the scams from this bunch and still give them the OK to take money from their accounts.
The "good" reports are NSS employees not joe public and they are trying to use this forum to add another means of promoting their scam.
Please get a life folks, tell them you are TPS registered and whatever you do give them no information whatsoever, least of all credit card or bank details.- Caller: Nationwide Satellite Services

Can't be too long before they get spanked again - Swanny| 1 replyPersistant little turd called Rames from this number is cold calling my elderly parents trying to con them into taking out insurance they neither want or need.
He's convinced them he's from Sky and is trying to get them to go to the bank and change their direct debit to Sky to him. Putting the phone down does no good, he just immediately rings back. He better hope I never get hold of him!
To the apologists / employees who've posted here. How do you sleep at night? Do you get a twinge of excitement when you've hoodwinked someone vunerable? Or are you as I suspect, a hollow, coin obsessed, husk of a person? You're lower than the belly of a snake.
We'll be contacting Trading Standards.- Caller: Unknown

- Easter Sunday replies to SwannyAppears to be an entire nest of these companies run by the same people operating from the same lairs:
The rate and range of each individual company changing name is bewildering. What are they hiding?

http://www.companiesintheuk.co.uk/ltd/bournemouth-independent-group - joy| 5 repliesWe had a phone call tonight saying or I thought they said that they were dealing with the repair plan cover for our Sky set up. They told me that the cost of the cover was going down by 2 pounds a month. They were keen to establish what specific sky set up we had HD etc and then who the bill payer was. This was all very friendly and very believable. I began to get suspicious when they started to ask for bank account details and I called my husband. He then took over and when refusing to say any more details and to question the call was passed over to a supervisor , my husband voiced his concerns and asked for a phone number. He then rang off and tried to contact the firm but got music and theneventually a voice saying goodbye. The message said we were phoning Nationwide Satellite Services. I always thought I was pretty savy about phone calls but this one was very slick. There was no pause before they spoke to you, no background noise and no heavy Indian accent!

Companies House Number: 07416449 Last Accounts Made Up To: (NO ACCOUNTS FILED) - Tom replies to Neil| 1 replyHi Neil,
BIG Warranties Ltd owns Nationwide Satellite Services Ltd purely for intellectual property reasons and trades under that name for our satellite cover business (the Ltd firm name is effectively dormant but protects the brand from others taking that Ltd name). In turn BIG Warranties Ltd is owned by the Bournemouth Independent Group (BIG), thus the BIG in BIG Warranties Ltd.
I'm not too sure why Premier Sky Repairs appears as a useful link as it has nothing to do with BIG Warranties but it is located in the same town which is why that may have happened.
Thanks for your time. - Tom replies to Neil| 1 replyHi Neil,
We forgot to mention the company was formed in August 2009 not October 2010, the NSS name was taken for protection in 2010. We have over 70 staff and have our head office in the centre of Bournemouth.
It's that simple! Hope this helps. - David replies to TomStill reeks of a scam. BIG Scam Ltd?
