- RossI work for Vodafone Customer Services and can confirm that this not a Vodafone service. Please reject all calls and do not give out any details.
- paulJust had them call me but i didn't answer. Number looks very fishy. The funny thing is i had my phone upgraded last week.
- Lee JHad 4 calls in 3 days from these guys. Answered 2 but no-one spoke. Probably a scam but cannot confirm. Why don't they just leave us alone......complete bunch of a**eholes.
- Georgiethese people are really annoying me now, get at least two calls a day - keep ignoring it but cant work out how to block the number
- JadeThese people have called me constantly at least twice a day for the last week. Im a vodafone customer. I definately wont be picking up now.
- MichaelI have just received a call from the 08080000144 number. I answered the call after reading the blogs suggesting the number is a scam. The caller had some of my personal details, name and asked address (he gave the first line of my address and I gave the postcode). He explained I was on the smart step price plan and that the tariff is old and expensive....I spend £25 a month on top up. He offered me a rolling contract "£15 per month, 225 minutes free, 100 text messages free to any mobile network and any landline". I said I was interested, so he then said he will need to do a credit check for which he will need a payment card. This is where I resisted to give any further details. To my suprise he was able to give the last 4 digits of my credit card number registered with vodafone, the expiry date, the date the card was registered with vodafone. I was still not happy giving out my credit card details over the phone.....he was then able to tell me call details from my call log for the previous day. After further refusing to give any more details he then passed me onto his manager, who asked me for my pin. I gave my pin and she was able to tell me details of credit cards I had registered in the past. I was then happy to give further credit card details, but stopped short of giving the CCV number.
After the call I decided to give 191 Vodafone Customer services a call. They were able to verfiy my new tariff (225 minutes free, 100 free text, £15.00 a month). Customer Services confirmed the call is not a scam, they are an outsourced company calling on behalf of vodafone. They are just not as professional in dealing with customers, and I guess vodafone have not given them full system access.- Caller: Vodafone
- traceythis 08080000144 number is calling me every day. I answered it once and the caller said they from Vodafone and asked me to comfirm my name (which they knew) and a password. i wouldnt and finished the call but they keep calling!
- AndyJust recieved a call from this number but it sounded fishy so I hung up. Just dialed Vodafone (191) and they confirmed it was a courtesy call from themselves to see if I was happy with my recently upgraded mobile.
I'm going to go along with it if they call again and see if I can improve my call package. - LeeJust wanted to say thanks to ALL posts. Just missed a call from This number 08080000144 and after a google search I came across this site. Be interesting If they call back. Just taken out a contract with Vodafone. Perhaps something should be put on the Official Vodafone website stating that they will ring you from this number IF it isn't a SCAM. All The Best. Thanks again!!!
- IvesI'm a vodafone customer and didn't answer the call. Thankfully you guys have posted all these comments. I've lodged a complaint/warning with vodafone. Hopefully no-one will fall for this scam. Next time they call me i will answer and give em hell!
- Caller: NOT VODAFONE!
- Sam ArcherOkay guys, if you were to answer this call, here's some advice on what to do.
Place your phone under a large sauce pan (whilst they're still on the line).
Take a large wooden spoon.
Repeatedly bang the sauce pan surface (the phone will be underneath the upside down saucepan).
Win. - JoanneRecently missed a call from this number. I am a vodafone customer and have only just upgraded! Looking forward to wasting their time if they ring again! Thanks for the info! First time i've used this site and will definitely use it again!
- StupotI have just had a call from this number and again, similar to other posts they state they were from Vodafone and started by asking ME loads of personal questions.
I stopped him and told him that I wasn't willing to provide ANY details as I didn't know who he was ! I asked what was the purpose of the call and they wanted to sell me another line on my existing contract. I told them to get stuffed as I wasn't convinced they were from Vodafone.
I've just spoken to Vodafone and it apparetnly IS their number, I told them that THEY should be providing information that only I would know to verify that the call is real (Like 1st and 5th letter of an agreed password), not the other way around !!!- Caller: Vodafone
- HelenI've had three missed calls from this number, I answered while on the bus home yesterday. I got a foreign man on the other end, there was a delay in him speaking so it was abroad. He said he was from Vodaphone and was calling about an upgrade. I can't have an upgrade yet as I rang not 3 weeks back to ask about it. He said the call was recorded for training and for data protection he asked for my date of birth and the first line of my address. I said I was on the bus and wasn't willing to give the information out. He said no problem I'll try later. Just had another missed call from them. So thought I'd google it. Glad I did. I'm not sure but I think that went you sign up for Vodaphone you create a password and they normally ask for that??
- Caller: Vodaphone
- BJI been rang a few times and wasn't sure. So Rang Vodafone and gave the girl the number. She checked it and said it is a Vodafone number.
- calAnother person here just had a missed call off this number. I upgraded with vodafone last month, and have been pestered with missed calls from witheld numbers for a couple of weeks now - I wonder if this is the "witheld" number that rang me.
Either way I don't want to know them but will answer it next time just for the fun!- Caller: ???
- Scott Seaman-DigbyI had a few calls and the phone went dead when I answered it - I just called Vodafone (on 191)and it IS their department - upgrade or customer service calls. You can get them to update an account form blocking the number and any texts etc from Vodafone or anyone operating on Vodafone's behalf
- Caller: Vodafone
- DanThanks guys, I recently bought a Vodafone contract phone a little while back.
- JackSonI was cold called from this number this afternoon with the caller claiming to be from Vodafone (not on behalf of and not a 3rd party)- after all the pleasantries I was asked out of the blue for my details to confirm who I was. Sorry, to be cold called, the onus of proving who one is lies with the caller. I refused to give any information and ended the call.
I later spoke with Vodafone customer services who said no log of any Vodafone calls were made to me that day, and they did not recognise the number as being part of their services.
It is worrying that they know my number, my name and my network - but I am still not going to give these dodgy folk any more information - I suggest everyone does the same. - jimmyi have had calls from this number now just 10 minutes ago and didnt answer because i didnt no the number by the off chance my self googled the number and stumbled across this i cant wait till the phone back again [***]
