Report a phone call from 08080000144 and help to identify who and why is calling from this number.
- MickNine missed calls from this number over the past two days - finally spoke to them and they offered me pay as you talk insurance and a free upgrade...
I asked them to confirm the first and last number on my account pin number and they hung up
They seem to be targetting vodafone customers only - why doesnt the network just bar their number?? - VinceI had a silent call from the number yesterday in the evening. So i looked up the number on the internet and found this. So i was cautious. They phoned me up today and asked for my details. So i said i wouldn’t give out any they told me to phone customer services. Just did that (didn’t realise how quick vodafone’s customer service is). They confirmed it was a genuine call from a company they hire.
Still, with all the scams these days, i think this is the safest option, not to give out any details. - ClaireTo put it bluntly:
DONT answer at all, not even to complain as you get charged premium call rates.
ADD them to your reject list if possible.
REPORT any texts to an official Vodafone number. - BenThey ring me 3-4 times everyday for the last few weeks
i ant be bothered answering anymore- Caller: 08080000144
- Subterranean DevilJust had a call from these idiots, didn't answer, look forward to their next attempt, will play THEM up a bit, my new name? Errm, Michael Mouse. Googled the number and found this site, so now sure they are scammers or some marketing pests.
- Caller: scammers-r-us
- Innocent Thugi got a phone call from 08080000144 saying that they are calling from vodafone and they are giving me an upgrade? i was suprised as i just took a new contract and they also said they are crediting my account by £20 as I've got 2 lines with Vodafone. After I've talked to the person I called vodafone customer service straight away and they said that such a call was never made to me!
- TonyI've started getting these again now that I've just upgraded my phone ; I first started getting them when I upgrade 18 months ago. Although I've never had anyone talking to me.
If you call the number back (I used my works phone) it does tell you to call back during normal office hours (I called at 10:30 on a Tuesday) or try 08080000155 if your call is urgent. It also mentions Vodafone in the message. - DeeThey are definitely dodgy!
Had calls like this before, and recently from this number.. asking for my name and wanting to give me some 'reward' for being a Vodafone customer for a long time.. well I had only just joined it! So she was asking for my name, I said.. 'You should know what my name is' and she said something about security/checking bla bla bla and I said 'I'm not supposed to give out this information' and she said something about putting me through to the customer services dept. and then soon hung up!
They are just scammers!! Don't give any info. and why not waste their call by telling them your 'Mickey Mouse' or something! They shouldn't fone again!! - DanaCan they be caught? And how... can the numbers be traced?? As they are very annoying.. and who knows what they can do with the info that someone who isn't in the know would give them??
- AH
- Ruchii just called up vodafone and although they said they have no record of the call, that is their number...
- AlexJust received a call from this number, didn't get to my phone in time to answer it though. Before calling the number back I checked it on the internet - I'm glad I did. I'm due for an up grade on my mobile/through vodaphone/ I probably would have fallen for it!!!! Thanks for helping me out!
- CloeI've had this number calling me before and when I spoke to Vodafone direct, I spoke to a very helpful little lady who called the number for me. Aparently they are a market research company working on behalf of Vodafone.
THEN I started getting calls from them again. It seems their new game is to offer upgraders...They told me I was a loyal customer so they were going to reward me. I said, 'You're not Vodafone though are you?' and then the bloke said 'What about if I tell you you've got a Sony Ericsson bla bla bla'. How they knew that I do not know because I have got that phone but it's not the one I bought with my contract. I had a Samsung with my contract but have just put my sim card in my boyfriends old Ericsson.
I just hung up but now I really want to question them!- Caller: Vodafone (aparently)
- Matt GiblinI work for LBM, i am payed by them its a crap company, i work for Vodafone Upgrades.
I googled the number when a customer said they had and it came up as scam!
Anyway LBM is a marketing company who work for other clients ie Vodafone. Which have one big call centre in middleton just for them and is worth a lot of money to LBM. But less to Vodafone as we have made a huge profit in the year and half Vodafone has been a client.
The number calling you may even be me on ther other end, i call excisting customers to explain they have come due for upgrade and can have a new phone, but if their happy with the phone they have, they can have a discount on the bills instead.
We are required to ask security questions as at the end of the day we may be sending a phone to the person we are speaking too and commiting the customer to a 12 or 18 month deal. As part of the DPA rules we can be fined by you the customer by giving out information to the wrong person. i agree this is stupid but its the law!!!
We can confirm your mobile make and model, and when you took out your current deal, and even which store if done in store. Ring the number back there is a recorded message from Vodafone.
As for the silent calls and hang ups, unfortunatly some agents will rather speak to the person next to them rather that the customer and leave you on hold or even hang up, this has led to so many sackings believe me, and yet it continues and these forums prove how out of hand it is.
Hope this clears up a lot.- Caller: LBM Vodafone
- DuncDef scamsters keep ringing few times a day
DO NOT ANSWER - Philip WThe last writer is correct (thank you for being honest about it)and this firm is well-known for its nuisance calls. Here is a link to tell you all about them and how to stop their seedy activities:
http://www.dynamoo.com/diary/lbm-direct-marketing.htm - AnaI got this call second time in two days (missed call) did not answer. Any ideas? Is it spam?

- phil j.Like many others i've also been getting these calls. I think it's a legit company who get commission for everyone they sign up, unfortunately, their sales methods are highly dubious and possibly illegal. I think we all should all contact Watchdog. They will investigate but only where there are a sufficient number of customer complaints.
